Just such an awesome place to send your VW, Steve is so helpful and even when his super biz he’ll always try and squeeze in a bit of time to help me out. Never taking my car anywhere else. True master’s of the trade

Very nice guy but extremely expensive. Charged 350$ for a simple service with a 120$ hourly rate. Plus he left his business sticker (which I can not remove) on the back of the car without consulting me first. Would not recommend.

Steve is the most knowledgeable mechanic around and has always made the time to get us back on the road when we’re in a tight spot. He was recommended to us when we bought our VW and we’ve since recommend him to everyone we meet. His knowledge equals great value for money and means that what others might call a ‘terminal’ job, can often be solved before it gets to that point. If you need a mechanic, this is your guy.

Fixed my T3's windscreen wipers quickly and cheaply, really good honest customer service, highly recommended.
3 weeks later and I've just had a service completed, can't fault the attention to detail, thoroughness and obvious care Steve and Brad have for Veedubs- you're in safe hands here

Steve from Mackellar Service Centre is a one of a kind mechanic. We are so thankful to have had him working on our T3 over the years. Steve knows his stuff and goes above and beyond to provide the best service (he has even talked us through some roadside mechanics over the phone when we’ve found ourselves in less than ideal locations/situations)

When my VW T4 had serious issues Steve went above and beyond what I have ever experienced with a mechanic. He is honest, knows his stuff and most of all doesn’t jump to costly conclusions. He is rather curious and is after a proper diagnosis in order to treat the root cause. Even though he was totally under time pressure, had a looming holiday a couple of days away he took the time to accurately diagnose the fault and left me in no doubt how to best deal with it and also in regards to looming costs. His pricing was fair given what he undertook.
When one drives VW vans - you know to seek a VW specialist - Steve is it! Above all he delivered excellent customer service.
I know now who I will seek help from when the VW coughs!

Why is this workshop always busy? Because these guys are Pros. I’ve been taking my cars there for years, all of them run perfectly all of the time because I listen to their straight up advice on what to do and recommendations of where to take vehicles for Automatic transmission services, auto electricians etc. You could otherwise be lost with choices and experiences. Great mechanics

Just spoke to him on the phone.r u people talking about the same man. Very rude. Not interest ed. Not going there.

Honestly the best mechanics I’ve worked with. Great guys that are never trying to sell you something you don’t need and can always help out when you’re in a bind. Legends!

New business owner has no idea and is not a VW lover. Overhead on phone saying "It's just a great little niche I've got going". Went 4 times to fix 1 issue - $1,600 later and no resolve. Another local mechanic took 5 mins to fix it and charged me $20. Stay away from this cowboy as he doesn't understand nor appreciate your kombi, he's just in it for the money!

Very helpful, was new to the area and they were very accommodating to my situation. Great service and will be using them as my regular mechanic.

Have been using Steve for the last 5 years to service and maintain my 72 Superbug. Steve and Brad seriously know their stuff and are able to diagnose and sort out those really tricky issues you get with a car that's older than you are! Pay no attention to the other reviewer that says they know nothing about VW's most everyone on the Northern Beaches uses them for a reason! Steve will go the extra mile to help you out when needed and takes great care in offering a quality service.

Just went to to Steve at Mackellar service centre with an issue with my T4 transporter, he stayed back late, diagnosed the issue and fixed it that night as it was the only car we have at the moment for our business and home. Steve great service & the price was acceptable. Thanks mate I'll bring back my T4 to you from now on.

By the way Steve has owned the business for 8 years so not sure what the other review means new owner?

Steve Beale at Mackellar Service Centre provides excellent service for my air-cooled '74 Kombi camper. Most of the classic VWs on the northern beaches seem to go to him - and you see them everywhere with the Mackellar sticker. He knows his stuff and saves me time and money because of his experience, approach and stockpile of original parts - he can identify the problem quickly. On top of that he and Brad are nice guys and do their best to squeeze in any genuine 'emergency' I have faced and to guide me to a sensible value-for-money repair or maintenance outcome. (He is a VW owner himself with a number of classics, has many years VW experience and is well regarded throughout the VW community - so I disagree totally with the BeeHava review with the negative comments - perhaps some competitor or confusing Steve with someone else).

I moved away from Sydney a few years ago, but Im still driving my MacKellar sticker around ;)
Steve has been always doing a terrific job on my T4. Sorry its too far to drive now.
If you want your VW looked after in Sydney, this is the place to go.
