Every time I come to Gymea I love to go to this shop. So much art inspo and other visual feasts. I’m grateful that ships like this still exist

Wonderful store full of an eclectic mix of unique books and artwork. From the first step in the door you can tell that this shop is a family passion, and that every piece of art, piece of jewellery, and every page on the shelf is carefully curated. The owner is quick to help find what you're looking for or suggest things that might suit your tastes, and rarely have I felt more welcome on a first visit.

I have found several wonderful volumes that I purchased for myself since discovering the store earlier this year, but more than that I have purchased delightful gifts for loved ones that I'd never have known existed before walking in. Really just a delightful experience every time!

For millenia, before "the" media, there was art as communication. Lonely Coat is the perfect place to be inspired by all manner of visual communication, literature, craft and art.

Like a daily trip to the old lolly shop, one looks forward to breathing against its windows and perusing the week's latest books and toys. This quaint little store is so far beyond the homogenous offerings of non-independent retail conglomerates, that is gushes authentic. Imagine that retail, on its own terms, not at the behest of shareholders, can move you. It takes a determined, and brave business owner such as Shivaun to go against the grain and offer this. Don't miss out on picking a cute little handmade gift for a little one or attending a craft workshop. You won't be sorry.

Lonely Coat is a little patch of paradise in Gymea. It's wonderful having an independently owned bookshop so close to home. Both my 5yr old and I love to browse and seek the owner's expert advice on our next read. I'm also thrilled to see them creating a hub for considered and respectful discussion in our community.

If you need a reminder of how important books are look no further. Lonely Coat houses the most beautiful gifts for all ages and has a pleather of items to treasure for yourself. Bespoke, selective and comforting. I’ve only ever ordered online. Service is fast and friendly. Call if you’re unsure and you’re met with consideration and support.
Lonely Coat is a perfect example of why and how we can support small business.
I love this shop.
Shop away I say

Not just a wonderful experience wandering around looking at books, artwork and jewellery, but my go-to shop when after a special gift for children or adults.

Perfect drop-in for both young and old. Comfy chairs and warm environment to sit and read, look at the beautiful artwork or chat to the knowledgable and friendly owner. Great books for children and unique pieces of art you won't find anywhere else in the Shire. A real gem and must visit.

This beautiful shop glows like a jewel, a warm, colourful and inviting space. It stocks an exceptional collection of books for those that love art and design, artworks to love and live with, and some stunning artisanal jewellery. We dropped in after a visit to Hazelhurst gallery and walked out with some beautiful and unusual treasures. Looking forward to returning to see what's on the shelves, and on the walls, and in the window.

Such a warm and welcoming space. I love the bookshop/Gallery blend (My two favorite things!) Great art, great selection of books. I got a brilliant Hiroshi Sugomoto photography book and a small original art work when I was there and I'm really chuffed with both. Also the owner is lovely - had a nice chat about art when I was there.

It's quite unique to enter a store and not being forced to buy anything, but to engage in deep and meaningful conversations with the owner. The atmosphere in the shop is extremely warm and welcoming. Every piece of Art, books, or furniture has a story and that's what makes this shop particularly special. I highly recommend it!
