Life Matters Psychologists reviews
12Could not speak more highly of Matthew and Lynne and their caring nature. They also ensure that access is accessible and that I make it safely from my vehicle to my appointment and back. Nothing is a problem to them.
Fantastic workplace! A lovely practice that's providing a very unique, helpful, and loving approach to Psychology across the Newcastle area.
Do not use this practice they're more intrested in your money then your mental health.
Edit:
A response expected from a business not a health service.
A complete fabrication and void of any actual fact.
Anyone reading this review stay well clear of this toxic business.
If I could give zero stars I would.
The main concern is the $$$ amount they can achieve out of vulnerable patients for little effort.
My wife booked an appointment where they took a $60 deposit for a $230 session. 1 hour after realising the practices cost My wife booked elsewhere for free under the mental health plan. Immediately calling back to cancel the appointment she spoke to a receptionist who stated "well your now going to have to wait months to get in somewhere else".
My wife still went ahead with cancelling the appointment where she was then told the $60 deposit is non refundable because that's the admin fee to book an appointment which took 5 minuites to set up. When speaking to the team leader she was aggressive and unsympathetic towards the situation.
I highly recommend choosing a different practice with your health and best intrest as a priority.
Edit- response:
For those reading the owners' responses, take that as a small sample of the empathy and service you're going to receive.
An initial welcome email was sent 10 minutes after the phone call with the receptionist. This was obviously a standard template, so find it hard to believe it would be worth $60 of time.
This did include a link to complete an assessment, general information details, and a credit card authorisation. NONE of these were completed as the appointment was cancelled literally 1 hour after the call.
Completely understand business costs and that if my wife was set up as a clien, this may have been a30-minutee process. However, as you can see, this is a blatant lie from the business as no such account or client profile was set up.
So essentially, they are suggesting a 10 minute phone call with a receptionist, and a template email is the equivalent of a $60 charge.
If the business took more time taking care of patients instead of lying on reviews, they would probably be a better company.
'High level of care' is laughable considering we dealt with them for all of 10mins- shocking response.
Beware - triple the fee, and I doubt you will receive a caring experience judging on the response here. I hope this review can prevent anyone struggling and in need of mental health support to seriously reconsider and look elsewhere.
(5 star reviews also include staff members! So, not actual clients)
Terrible experience- too money focused and dont care about patients. Would go elsewhere next time.
Life matters they should change the name to money matters
They are not in this field to help people but to make money if you don’t have money up front you can’t have an appointment then when you do have the money you can’t get an appointment
The admin staff have no training or skills to deal with or have any empathy for un well people
Legally they are to have emergency appointments available on the day that’s not the case nor is there any attempt to have contact or inform your physiologist that you need help
If you don’t fit their small selection client criteria you don’t get an appointment and dumped off to fend for yourself
Very disappointing
Cannot recommend kaine enough for behavioural Therapy. He is fun and engages my child in a positive way. He has us laughing (me in tears of laughter) for most of the sessions with his crazy scenarios and reenactments, but it works as the messages are getting across to my son and he is learning in a fun way.
I am also learning how to help my son.
Life matters has a very relaxed vibed going and the waiting room is very comfortable.
5 stars all round
Amazing friendly team, and their services cover support for all ages and issues. Much shorter wait times than most other Psychologists too! I have referred my friend there for an assessment for her son.
I’ve worked with the team at life matters for close to four years now and it’s a big family with seriously switched on and empathetic psychologists and team members genuinely doing their absolute best to support mental health and well-being! Big love team.
No disability access seems like a massive oversight for a psychologist. Surely Physical and psychological injury go together? And to have a building without even a ramp seems insane. But it's nice and close to beaumont st for the hipster staff.
After much research, I booked in with this organisation. The booking process was simple and straightforward, however the person I booked the Zoom / Telehealth appointment with failed to show up.
I phoned 3 minutes past the agreed time and the receptionists said they would try to contact the person. By 10 past I phoned again, and someone different said they would try and get hold of them. At 17 minutes past, I phoned again and was told that "something happened" with a previous patient. They asked if I could reschedule the appointment, which I could not, owing to both my work schedule and my lack of faith in the company/ process after this experience.
They agreed to provide me with a full refund.
Whilst the ladies on the phone were lovely and they did everything in their power to help me, the process for alerting people when their appointments cannot be met is non-existent.
The hardest part in all of this was the fact it took an immense amount of bravery on my part to overcome trepidation and book this appointment; to be let down like this has done much more harm than good.
I genuinely wish I had not booked this appointment with this organisation - it was not a positive experience and I would not recommend.
The reception here is very friendly and caring they make you feel very welcomed and comfortable before your visit and Jay Richards My psychologist is a very pleasant and caring guy who knows how to quickly get to the core of your problem and offer hope and positive reinforcement that you can be fully well once again as you work together on your mental health challenges. I highly recommend this practice and my psychologist Jay Richards. You will find the help you need here.
