Leaves & Fishes reviews
25Fantastic food and service. Relaxing atmosphere sitting over a tranquil pond. Able to feed fish and turtles.
Beautiful place! The lady serving us was very friendly and gave my son a bag of food to feed the fish which kept him entertained. I ordered the soft shell crab, the crab was nice and crispy but unfortunately the singapore chilli sauce that it comes with was a bit of a let down which is the reason I'm not rating 5, but overall still worth a visit!
What a beautiful spot. Leaves and Fishes is peaceful, stunning and the perfect choice for families too. There is bread for kids to feed the ducks and fish. My son had a wonderful time. The food is great and priced well. The service is amazing. Staff are very friendly. Lots of options for adults and kids. Thank you for a beautiful lunch experience.
This little gem is one of the best kept secrets of the Hunter. Cool place, taste and flavour takes centre stage. Chicken wings is juicy and tasty. Great value for a menu you won't find anywhere else. Definitely will be back
Very tasty food lovely staff beautiful outlook overlooking the dam pure Bali. We liked it so much. We came back the next day.
Lovely little restaurant overlooking the water. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious, highly recommend the scallops. They have clean bathrooms with a baby change table. We were also lucky enough to be able to feed the fish and resident water dragons.
The food is so fresh and yummy.
Really loved the atmosphere and location, highly recommend.
Well it wasn't open. 4 cars pulled up but it was closed even though your website said open. Might have beena good ideas update the Web site.
I had an amazing birthday experience in Leaves and Fishes. Never been to the place but I was surprised of how beautiful the place was. We sat outside the restaurant and the ambiance is top notch. The food is good and reasonably priced (cheaper than many restaurants in Hunter valley).
All the staff were very accommodating. My relatives were very happy about my choice and we will be back next time.
A must try for everyone.
Such a beautiful place to visit and incredibly delicious food!
The restaurant is located on the water, it reminded me a little of lovely restaurants in Bali. Lots of water Lillies and you can feed the fish! There is also a separate cafe and accommodation. Don't go past trying this place. Thank you for a great experience!
A family owned business for over 40 years. We met the owner who was pleasant and humble
We also tried a drop from their winery which was crisp and hit the spot,
Lunch was served promptly and was fresh and delicious,
This is indeed the best kept secret in the hunter.
The view is beautiful by the pond, and plenty of antiques as well as a Shed full of surprises to look at!
Indeed a pleasant experience.
Amazing lunch experience. Shared plates of very yummy food. Staff were so friendly and made the afternoon even more special. Make sure you have the Tassie Scollops and the pineapple and cashew Asian salad.
While they have spent time and money on making this place look great, it fails on food and service. On entry to restaurant we were not provided a menu but were advised to take a photo and take a seat. No table service considering there were 2 staff for 12 diners. Food was very overpriced and was dropped on our table when ready with little effort. Poor wine selection and also overpriced with 2 semillons and 2 rosès.
Don't go for the food!
This place looks great but the restaurant experience lets the location down dreadfully.
Beautiful Balinese style gardens set beside a lovely dam. Restaurant looked very attractive, an old wooden place with stained glass windows and a great deck overlooking the water.
However it is a very limited Asian fusion menu; no pasta, no rice, no burger, most meals are fried and while they sounded good, everything we had was bland & lacking in any spice. My husband's roti had been deep-fried!? Yuk, & my supposed Szechuan chicken wings tasted of nothing but lots of Thai sweet chilli sauce. We were all very disappointed with our meals.
No service! No menus, order at counter, couldn't get a coffee despite there was an expresso machine (had to go to the separate cafe) no tablecloth (not even paper) and everything was served in takeaway containers! What the heck?
Hoped to make up for lunch with a coffee in the garden, but sadly was weak coffee and Portuguese tarts that my son said 'looked & tasted exactly like the ones he'd had from Costco'!
What a shame such a beautiful place is letdown by sub-standard food and non-existant service.
None of us will ever go back.
Amazing food and great ambience. Highly recommend the scallops, soft shell crab and tofu. So good!
Beautiful surroundings in a lovely area. Food was yum - had the Szechwan chicken wings. Would have loved proper crockery and cutlery instead of disposable given price point.
Spectacular. Great food and a great experience. What they have created here is absolutely sensational.
Gorgeous atmosphere and location. Food was served up in take away boxes and paper cups. Not sure on this as we chose a dine in option. Fish and chips were delicious. Great fun feeding the fish in the dam.
We chose a delicious selection of dishes to share.
Szechuan Chicken, Fish &Chips, Half Shell Tasmanian Scallops, Pineapple Salad.
Totally recommend.
Lovely calming atmosphere.
Gorgeous setting.
Relaxed vibe.so sweet and chic.
Stopped by for lunch and had trout. It was delicious and cooked very well. Just felt that the portion sizing was bit small.
