When picking things up by 5 on a Friday it can be difficult and full of traffic to get to the Lawons site in the burbs, you get calls every 10 minutes for an ETA and credit card information as 5pm approaches. Maybe open until 5: 30? Not everyone who purchases from Lawsons is retired xx

Worst auction house in Sydney and Most arrogant owner/manager. After two years of fortnightly bidding on items worth
$1,000s I had enough this year and don’t buy from them anymore. They don’t accurately describe flaws in the furniture or even A/F on an item with damage. They damage your items and then keep your items, after you’ve paid for them. Then tell you it’s for not picking up furniture on time. I’m in WA And Pedemonts interstate transport can only pick up on certain dates and if they don’t fall on Lawson’s Dates for pick up, Im penalised! You think as a regular customer who spends large amounts of money that they might have a bit of patience with pick up times from interstate buyers. Apparently Not! Do Not Buy From Lawson’s if you’re an interstate buyer of furniture. They’ll take your money for sure but no service, understanding or empathy. Yes I’m talking to you Adam! Never use them again.

The team at Lawsons has a profound understanding of the market and passion for collectables. Their knowledge, expertise and respect is immediately evident from start to finish. It provides me with confidence that my items are in the right hands.
The consignment process is seamless and well organised. From the first interaction of cataloging with Peter and the team straight through to their online platform. If you have unwanted collectables or family items you would like to part with, I recommend Lawsons to look after you.

Plenty of car parking out back for collections. Staff were very friendly, especially the Kiwi boys on the floor that helped to locate my stuff.

Don’t bother making any enquires, as you get no reply never. I don’t see how they business doing well as no one will bother to buy from their website as a result of no response

I had a very good experience with my first Lawsons auction. I won the bid on a large quantity of art and bric-a-brac and the boys on the floor were ever so helpful. They carried all my stuff out the front and loaded my taxi when it arrived. Thank you so much for a smooth anuction experience.

Highly recommend the professional and efficient service provided by Lawsons, with a special mention to the friendly and very helpful staff of the Bric a Brac and Miscellany section. They always make me feel welcomed and valued as a customer. They cheerfully load up my purchases for me and have assisted me to load my car when the items are heavy. Great customer experience that keeps me coming back for more.

After many purchases with Lawsons, I can say I will not be purchasing from here.
BEWARE: they fake their own biddings to make the price go higher. I have lodged a fair trading complaint against this company as shill bidding is illegal. They unlawfully charged my credit card on file for a purchase as well without notifying me.
Horrible customer service. Do not recommend. RUN before you purchase from here.

In response to their comment below: can they explain how I’ve bid on art before and I’ve not won the bidding and then see the art re advertised in the next lot?

Arrogant, rude, patronising and aggressive furniture manager. I've bought and sold various items at Lawsons over the years and yesterday was the very last time. Went to collect a lounge suite less than 24 hours after receiving the invoice only to discover that it had been in the rain and all the cushions were wet and water stained. When I asked why it had been standing in the rain, said manager launched into an aggressive attack on me that basically implied it was my fault for not collecting sooner, but that there actually hadn't been any rain, and that the original owner had lied about it being weatherproof. There were so many other ways he could have handled the situation but he chose to go with hostile and deeply unpleasant, which made me very angry. My only consolation is that other people witnessed his bullying behaviour. So that's it. Won't buy there again for the privilege of paying 25% commission and being treated like garbage. Strongly recommend any other auction house.
I look forward to the response to my review - it will be interesting to see what spin and gaslighting they resort to, after reading their response to many other complaints about poor service.

Dear Lawson's Family,
I am happy to write this review for you because of the enjoyment I have had doing business with you as a buyer and a seller. I have made a number of very satisfying transactions with you and I attribute a lot of that to your wonderful staff.

In the front Libby, Kylie and Liv have always been very helpful and cheery in dealing with me and my scatterbrain queries and transactions.

Adam has always guided me with some valuable tips and suggestions, and Anzac.

The bric-a-brac crew is one source of fun and entertainment with Sam, Boggi and Ben, who have become mate.

April has helped enormously with my understanding of jewellery sales and valuations.

Natashas art expertise is sound and always helpful.

The upper back with Harry Seve and Jess is a learning curve that has paid off with their kind assistance and help.

I would highly recommend Lawsons auctions.

Best Regards,
Ron

Arguably the most horrible customer service I have received from any auction house. Adam was particularly insolent and unhelpful.

Edit - I have been a previous client of your auction house and regardless, the approach with which you chose to interact with anyone should be independent of whether they are your customers.

This platform is extremely confusing and there are extra fees that aren’t clearing shown. Extremely unhappy with the whole process and will not be using them again

Beware $50 storage fees and also late fees regardless of item value. Very minimal descriptions online, which often do not describe or acknowledge damage to items. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Guilty pleasure going to this auction house, finding interesting curios and vintage furniture.

Ridiculous low valuation for such an antique French piece that was bought directly from an antique French dealer on Proantic. The French dealer said the piece would have cost thousands on 1stdibs but was valued by Lawson for $100. What a joke!
