Lovely peaceful morning out. Quality arts & crafts to look at in the shop, great items to buy as gifts for family or friends. We stopped in at a cafe down the road for a coffee on the way up to Larrikins Lock up. Then continued onto a lookout that the lovely owner recommended to us. Nice area’s for kids to enjoy too.

Had a lovely morning with our family at Larrikins Lock-up and recommend a drive out to soak up the country atmosphere. The host was amazing and can tell you all about the incredible history and hard work behind the property and it’s structures.

Very relaxing country drive out to Larrikins lock up located on a beautiful plateau 700m above sea level. The property was extremely well presented and the host was very lovely with an abundance of history to tell.
She had some quality crafted items from locals and themselves to purchase and everything was very interesting and well worth a day trip to visit. After we visited we took a short drive to the national park and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Plan a day trip and enjoy the cruisy country scenery and step back in time and relax with the locals at Larrikins Lock Up!

I always enjoy a visit to Comboyne and this time I visited the historic gaol which is now called Larrikins Lockup. I loved it. Gorgeous plants out the front then the old gaol was a showroom for many wooden sculptures, bowls etc.as well as my sort of pots.
The grounds also were inviting with lovely gardens and a lawn sweeping down to the river. A fire pit with a hand built rock wall is a recent addition I was told.
A great place for a picnic or morning tea.
This is a great place to visit. I will be back.

A bit disappointed. First up, there was no info or story that the small building was an old goal or its history. Secondly, there were some plants, hand-crafted timberware and other bits and pieces for sale but at very expensive prices.
On the positives, it is in a nice setting by the river (stream) with quiet sitting and eating areas, including as pic, adjacent to Comboyne village.

We traveled from Wingham to Comboyne and on to the famous Ellenborough Falls. Comboyne was an ideal stopover with its coffee shops and other attractions. Visiting Larrikins Lock-up was a delight with its large garden and locally made woodcraft. I was particularly taken by the well designed bird baths. My visitor from Switzerland was most interested to hear the stories of the old lockup. We are so glad we dropped in.

Beautiful drive through Byabarra to Comboyne on the sealed road. Interesting history, beautifully restored buildings, lovely setting (great for a picnic in grounds by the river). Friendly informative owner will share her abundant knowledge of the site and the area generally with you. Craft items for sale, locally made. Worth a visit to Comboyne and specifically Larrikin's Lockup.

Absolute waste of a trip. Drove over an hour on horrible roads to get here, hoping for a historical jail with lots of historical information, relics and at least a good coffee. Walked into a tiny timber shed full of random things for sale. Asked where the jail was and was told “You’re in it”…. We felt punk’d. Save yourself the nightmare drive, wasted fuel and wasted time if you’re hoping for a historical experience learning about the old jail and town. If only someone else had left a detailed review, we wouldn’t have wasted a day of our holiday. If you want to buy some plants or random wooden things and don’t mind using half a tank of fuel, go for it. If it’s a historical experience you’re after, stop back in Timbertown or Wauchope.
