Lachlan Swamp reviews
8New trails and a boardwalk viewing platform! Always a favorite to show out-of-towners the flying foxes.
I went as the sun was setting. At first they were just sleeping and starting to wake up. As the sun was going down they started wiggling, stretching and eventually taking flight. Thousands of them! It was amazing to see.
Quite small, but one of the few preserved swamps in Sydney. Might not be the same as it used to be, but the atmosphere is certainly unique from the bush and other native ecosystems.
How do they have this swamp in the middle of the city! Very cool little area that transports you to another place. A few signboards around that explain the colour and smell of the swamp. And of course hundreds of flying foxes in the trees!
Beautiful bats, also creepy but very special swamp.
Just wear shoes that can be cleaned easily, lots of bat guano on the path.
Have fun!
No one knows about the swamps, great little hideaway in Centennial Park. Best when muddy with gumboots. Look up for bats!
Loved this on the middle of the park. Hhas a nice walkway though it. The flying foxes are wonderful to watch, you can hear them long before you see them.
What a lovely place, with a lot of different views in one place from dense trees, to open green fields to small lakes and all this is in the middle of city, nice place to run away from city life but in the at the same time are still in it.
Very nice views, clean place, well taken care of.
A lot of walking and a lot photos taking.
