Kui Kiosk reviews
7 I do not recommend you to drive in here from the Mittagong side, roads are some sort of really dodge unsealed sand roads, the Teralga side is way way way much better. If you drive from Sydney, just make a bit detour, you’ll get the real pleasure of road trips.
They probably also need some more road signs to guide tourists on the way to these caves, I mean, they have really nice caves and helpful staff, don’t just give it away.
And also there’s no reception in that national park area, so before you enter the park, put the destination on map and do not exit anyhow! Otherwise you’ll get so lost in there.
Wombeyan caves is amazing we only did the self guided tour which was easy the big caves are guided tours which run in school holidays all in all an awesome day out
Magic. The kiosk is your first port of call when you arrive. Here, you obtain a token for either one of Wonboyn Caves sight seeing excursions. One of the caves is self touring where as others are provided with a guide. Mind you some people may be a little claustrophobic, but it's not all that scary. It's always special when you visit this type of tourist attraction and marvel how nature creates beauty like this. For the camper, wow, the grounds are well laid out for any adventurer plus the camping grounds have cabins to tuck yourself into something more cosy. Walking tracks can take you further into the wild for fitter folk's. Bring you camera to record your stay.
A really lovely little spot with a bit of everything. The ranger staff at the kiosk are friendly and helpful and can not be faulted. The caves and walks are lovely and really well marked.
The kiosk has all the basics, drinks, nibbles and pies etc. The amenities are clean and well maintained. Everything is centrally accessible from the car park.
The only down side is that it is hard to get to, the road from near Mittagong is rubbish, it is mostly dirt and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a 4WD, the 75 odd klm"s will take you 2 hours, i was lucky to do 40klms ph for most of it. The road is seriously dodgy in parts, very narrow, bumpy with the odd fallen rocks but the scenery is stunning and there are plenty of Kangaroos in parts, there is also a really lovely river crossing and the historic Bullio tunnel which you get to drive through.
There is an alternate route via Goulburn which is twice the distance and about the same time, apparently it is a better road.
I recommend it but just be warned, it's hard to get to but worth it once you are there, i'd go back.
Please note there is absolutely no internet or phone signal available but there is a phone box!
I'd go back.
You buy entry tickets to the caves here. I suggest some signage to caves entry on the camping site. From here to the first cave is a short walk (less than 5 minutes).
Two roads lead to the caves: one from Mittagong which is unsealed and dangerous. The other is from Goulburn which is sealed. We took the first one by mistake and it was like a nightmare. We got there at the end. I checked the website before leaving and could not see any warnings or information about the possibility of people taking this road nor any warnings about the road from Mittagong. I strongly recommend that you update your website to make it clear which road should people take.
