Kotara Family Practice

A family member attended this Practice very recently. Extremely disappointed with the outcome of the Dr's visit. Personal questions asked about my daughter's experience being gay, the Dr was lucky I wasn't there, I would have told her that Homophobia is a personal problem, that she has.and not what is appropriate behaviour from a GP!

Doctors charge individually. I paid $122 for a 17min consult for 8month old baby. Each doctor decides what they charge and may not apply health care concessions. I have never had a doctor there that has not rushed me or my children out the door, even once ushering us out without children properly dressed. Receptionist tried to charge me $95 for immunisation and when I questioned it, it was rectified to $55. Staff have openly agreed that high medical fees should be applied to children! I only go to this practice because it’s close and cannot get into another practice. If you don’t mind paying high fees for doctors and staff who are unpleasant then go to this practice.

Move past the comically rude counter staff and review the doctors! Dr Oscar Cummings is a great dr, thorough and friendly - highly recommended

Front line staff are pretty rude Ashley is lovely the rest give or take depending on the day! Charged a fee when a friend of mine missed the Telehealth call by 8 minutes called back and said too late you need to pay &48 this was a mental health check up but yet still want to take $48 missed call fee from a patient like what is wrong here so rude! The doctor was already 20 minutes late at the time and we tried to reschedule but the reception adamant to make sure they paid the $48 I defo wouldn’t call this a family practise not by any means and not considering the reason for the appt in the first place! Good work Kotara family practise nothing like being a real genuine caring business!

Snooty SA receptionist informed me that 'this practice is not taking any new patients'.
'A lot of people try and get appointments here' she added haughtily, her inference and tone implying 'but you're not good enough'.
How unfortunate that GP's with a good reputation, choose staff who talk to prospective patients like this.
No thank you Kotara Family Practice - I would never book with a practice that doesn't understand patients are actually customers.

I come into this practice yesterday afternoon for the very first time as I was looking for the pathology collection centre to drop a urine test off and the Kotara Family Practice receptionist lady was polite and friendly and professional and kindly pointed to where they’re despite me not being a patient of theirs,

I wanted to say thank you her for her help but she was away from the desk busy with something else which I understand so that’s why I’m writing this review today the lady was sitting on the right side of the desk as you walk in but I didn’t know her name.

I just came from an appointment which I had booked but which was cancelled without telling me. I had taken the whole afternoon off of work only to have them get there and not be able to find my appointment, which I had confirmation for. Barely an acknowledgement of the inconvenience from the front desk and no explanation. Disgusted. Would give it negative stars if I could.

It was hard to get the knowledge out of the Gp. I shared all the things I was doing to help my son and in response to that, Doctor Charles Piao just replied saying “I’ll be doing things differently” … after that off course I was going to be asking for his opinion, this is the reason we all go to see a GP right? Then he share some information but because he took longer discussing this, maybe just over 15 minutes, at the exit I got charge $150! Even though when I got the appointment the admin lady said the consultation cost was $85… If the Gp choose to charge the double he could at least ask me if I’m agree doing a longer consultation or no, this was a super bad practice. As a patient I suppose to have the right to choose this.

I don't usually leave reviews but the service I received from counter staff was really disappointing. I enquired about an appointment at the practice and was told you are not taking new patients. I was dismissed immediately with no concern as to why I needed an appointment. I desperately need a renewed script for my medication and was given no alternative options or help. If you're going to work in healthcare, even as a receptionist, it helps to be kind and care about the people who walk in the door.

Dr Olivia Brentnall is exceptional.
First appointment and she has already shown she is caring and intelligent and I will be back to see her.

Dr Erin Rickard was amazing at giving me my flu vaccine. Easy, painless and the staff is very nice. Highly recommended!

I have received, exceptional “above and beyond” service from everyone at this practice! The ladies answering the phones, the ladies on the desk, the nurse and Doctor Charles! I can’t recommend them highly enough! Simply wonderful.

One Dr in particular is extremely condescending. He is rude and made a disparaging comment about me to my wife during her consultation. This used to be our family practice, but no longer.

They say they "Believe in treating you well and keeping you well" but it's nothing more than a marketing slogan. Have had awful experiences and made a written complaint they obviously couldn't be bothered responding to. Steer clear of this practice if you value your health, time and money.

I am not one to usually leave a review but they don't listen as you are just a number to them and that is it.

I have been coming to the practice for 2 years now and I have never had a problem with the doctors. However, the last 3 experience I have had with reception here have been nothing short of disgraceful.

They way they talk to you is like you are nothing and you have no choice in anything unless it suits them.

This is the second time I have had an issue with appointments. I had just booked in a tele appointment, the reception called me and said she was booking someone at that time so I will now have to move as she wants the spot. It does not matter at all that I had first booked in the appointment and that I now have 3 kids under 3 that I will need to juggle through an appointment as she said 'I have no other choice' she wants to book the spot.

Horrible customer service, and to a returning client. Will defiantly be moving practices now.

Charlie is the best doctor I have ever been to. So knowledgeable and caring, and all-round just amazing at his job. The wait times at this practice are also very good, I have never had to wait for longer than 20-30 minutes. The nurses are also very kind and make you feel at ease.
The reception staff however are quite blunt and intimidating. I understand they would deal with a lot of annoying situations but I do feel they can be quite impatient at times.

I am pregnant and I went to get the convulsive cough vaccine that is paid by the government and just that day they charged me the right amount of the vaccine the most in my consultation with the excuse that my consultation had been longer, a lie since my consultation started 30 minutes late due to the doctor's own delay.

Introducing a kind doctor (those who thinks of the patient like a family member). The name is Dr Charles Piao, Speaking Language, Chinese, Korean, Mandarin. Patients who have trouble communicating in English will be very helpful if they find Dr. Charles.

Dr Charles Piao is very knowledgeable and caring doctor. The nurses are great with the children, especially when it comes to vaccine time.
