Kempsey Powerhouse Motel

Great motel, lovely family and the room service is spot on and delicious (home cooked meal). Family of 5 and a dog staying here and we were really pleased with the size of the twin room, hot shower, awesome water pressure, amenities were great and really close to the highway yet far enough away that you can't hear a thing except the wilderness.

Disgusting place to stay for that price ($180). The place looked clean at first, however, no matter what you touch it’s sticky and doesn’t feel hygienic. The carpet needs a deep clean. It’s oily and sticky. And the highlight was when I wanted to use the sticky kettle to make an instant coffee it was full of flies and gross slimy substance inside. I don’t even know what it was. We just wanted to leave this place ASAP. It’s a shame we didn’t take any pictures.

Comfortable and very clean. Everything you need in a small motel. Friendly service - lovely genuine people.

Only stayed overnight, but well worth it. Room was fantastic, had a sofa, dining table and chairs, heaps of room. Lovely hot shower with great water pressure. Room service dinner of reef n beef was the best we have ever had. Steak, prawns and scallops were cooked to perfection, and so fresh, none of that crumbed frozen stuff. Would definitely recommend Powerhouse to others.

A true diamond in the rough. Great place to stop over between Sydney and Brisbane. This place is pet friendly on request. Room was large with a modern bathroom and all very clean. Will stay again.

Unexpected oasis between Sydney and the Gold coast. Lovely big trees, guest saltwater pool edged by palms, grassy areas in front and behind. Comfy bed. A k or so off the highway, so a bit quieter. Nice to chat to Jason too (motellier). Everything neat and tidy in the room.

For what I needed it was perfect. Dog friendly, clean, in house dining if needed extras in room. Will definitely stay again

After reading the reviews for a pet friendly motel on the highway for travel, I chose this gem. A fantastic little motel to stay at just off the highway, easily accessed. The rooms were wonderful, very clean and tidy and everything you need for a short lay over.

We stayed in the twin single room and the beds were so comfortable, and the pillows as well. Great amneties and pets are welcome.

The owners are lovely people, very accommodating, personable and they know customer service to a tee, I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality.

The prices are very modest especially for what you get for the rooms and service. Other places I have stayed at are priced much higher and rooms grimey and old.

I highly recommend this motel, will be at the top of my list every time I travel between Sydney and Brisbane now (or generally any time I'm down this way). The previous 5 star reviews say it all.

Stayed one night in unit 2.
Room was clean and comfortable.
Reception was closed when we arrived at about 6pm.
Called the number but call was not picked up.
But after 10 mins the lady came.
The taps in the bathroom gives a loud noise when turned on.

What a great place, off the highway so it’s quiet, well furnished rooms and food available as well. All for a very reasonable price with friendly check in.

The accommodation, amenities, room size, shower, air conditioner, sound proofing and staff behaviour perfectly the best.

Large comfortable room. Great room service. Excellent staff. Very clean room. Lots of parking space. This is our second stay at the Kempsey Powerhouse. Highly recommended.

Great place to stop on the way to Northern Rivers. Friendly and accommodating. Reasonable tariff. One disappointment, they don’t cook on a Sunday night. Reviews of the good are good so I look forward to stopping over again.

I Stay in Kempsey often for work, dinner at the Powerhouse is something I always look forward to! Jason is great, very friendly and the rooms are clean with a comfortable bed.

This is definitely underestimated as far as being a great motel.it may be a older style motel, but by far the best in Kempsey. The staff are great and the rooms are spotlessly clean.and I'm definitely satisfied with the price of the rooms Big thanks to the management for a great service and pleasant stay.

They remembered me from forever ago. Must have made an impression. Not 5 star, but good service, good food and comfy enough in the rooms. Good price too!

Travelling with my 94yo mother, so suitable bathroom, comfortable beds, and plenty of space are important. Powerhouse Motel ticks all the boxes. Not only that, they provided a toilet seat with handles (why don't all motels have one of these? Most toilets are too low for people with a disability). The shower had a grab rail, so even though this wasn't classed as a disability unit, it made our life very much easier. Room was spacious and included a table and chairs where we ate the room service dinner. Delicious! And saved us a drive into Kempsey. Motel is just off the main highway so no need to go into town at all. In the morning after checkout we were 15 mins down the road when Jason called to say the cleaner had found my mother's handbag in the room. Wow! - this saved us a lot of trouble as we could turn around and collect it immediately. Great service. 5 starts to Jason and his team. We'll be back.
