Kaiza Izakaya

We ordered 7 dishes. All platings looks good, but all foods were either too sweet or too salty. Fresh oyster had me worry of food poisoning as it was served WARM AND SMELLY. Staffs was good and mood were the only other good thing. AVOID!

Interesting lovely food and great service. Not too noisy. Good atmosphere. The pear and ginger sorbet is excellent!

Fantastic to find this Japanese and Vietnamese fusion place. Full of flavour and interesting elements. Great GF options and friendly staff.

My family and I had lunch here on Saturday. It was quiet place and the food was so good.
My husband got the sashimi platter which he said was delicious, I had a few small plates including the scallop, steak tartare and salmon tartare which were all amazing and my 6 year old had the soba noodles and lamb cutlets, he has not stopped talking about how good the lamb cutlets were and even had the gaul to ask the chef for the recipe! The chef responded 'if you come back I will share it with you' my son wanted to return on Sunday and continues to ask me when we will be going back.
We will definitely be returning.

Excellent food, some of the most memorable dishes we had in Sydney! Highly recommend the scallops, the lamb, and the toothfish skewers in particular but we liked everything we ordered!

So extremely disappointing. Fine dining prices, for subpar food and terrible service. I wish I could go back 2.5 hours and not walk in the door

Food was delicious and the service was out of my expectations! Too busy eating so I didn't take a lot of pictures, but tofu and lamb are amazing. Definitely be back

Not the first time anymore, but everytime I come back to Kaiza, they always give me the best experience just like the beginning. Every dish is fabulous, from the flavour to the texture. And now coming with the cocktail (new drink menu), I've tried all of the cocktail, unique and really "Kaiza". Kaiza will always be my top fav restaurant. Thanks to Kaiza team for taking care of me every single time!

One of the best restaurants I've been to. The food is very good quality and fresh. I absolutely love the Crispy Eggplant. Especially the service and staff are extremely good. The staff is very enthusiastic and friendly, always attentive to the customers. Will be back

My partner and I had one of the best restaurant experiences this past weekend at Kaiza Izakaya.

From the very first bite, we were amazed at the flavours and taste of each of the dishes. We decided to skip the tasting menu and have a little fun by ordering our own dishes. It was hard to choose a favourite amongst the Chicken Skewers, Grilled Unagi Bao, Tuna Takati, Grilled Broccolini and Wagyu Chuck Eye… they were all simply amazing.

The service was excellent and atmosphere was very cozy and friendly. Jade was fantastic and came over at the end to chat about our experience which we really valued.

We haven’t stopped raving about how great the food and experience was and are looking forward to our next visit already.

Food was delicious and the service was outstanding! I will certainly go back when next in Newtown.

I have allergies to chilli and while most of their dishes have it in a component our very knowledgeable waitress informed me of what I could or could not eat on each dish our group ordered. Then organised an individual portion without chilli on a couple of meat dishes. All without needing to consult the chefs! So accommodating and eager to help. I didn’t have to miss out!

The rear has a real alleyway izakaya vibe. The sashimi is the real star. Get at least one. The mains can be a bit small though.

Went here for my birthday with a group of 5. We got the banquet which provided a varied set of dishes. Enjoyed every dish! All dishes were unique and different, which we enjoyed. We also drank a lot of different sake which were all nice too. Service was attentive and quick. Would recommend

Interesting Vietnamese Japanese fusion flavours, however the food was quite salty (maybe due to the use of fish sauce). Nevertheless, we enjoyed the experience.

We had lunch on Friday and we've been surprised about the high quality of food, every dish was superlative, great presentation and amazing service on the floor. Incredible thing is that menu in total is also kind of cheap (specially if we consider the high quality of food). I suggest this restaurant to everyone who want to enjoy a great cuisine on Newtown strip. 5 stars is the minimum we can rate this venue.

We had a lovely meal. The staff were brilliant.helpful, friendly, not pushy. A really enjoyable evening. We'll be back.

The food was amazing but there was house music blasting on a Sunday evening the whole time which made us want to leave. Wine was flat but the Wagyu Nigri saved the night. Very fresh and tasty!
