I recently had the pleasure of visiting of the new Joh Salon in Double Bay, and I must say it was an absolutely extraordinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the refreshing and healing decor, adorned with a tapestry of different shades of green. Joh Salon has truly embraced the future of hairstyling, pioneering a new age of transformation and reinvention.
One cannot overlook the enduring legacy of Joh Salon. Through their commitment to excellence, they have stood the test of time, solidifying their place in the industry. The bustling ambiance of Double Bay, with neighboring salons thriving, speaks volumes about the enduring reputation of this empire.
What sets Joh Salon apart is their unwavering dedication to accommodating their clients. No request is too much for them, and they go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met. The salon's receptionist, Chris, deserves special recognition for her exceptional service. Despite juggling another job, she remains diligent and dedicated, making magic happen for every client. Her willingness to go out of her way to address our needs is commendable.
At the heart of Joh Salon's success are their outstanding stylists, led by the exceptional Heath. Heath's talent surpasses boundaries, as he flawlessly enhances each client's look with ingenious and artfully executed styles. Despite the challenges posed by my hair, Heath's transformative results were consistently amazing. To put simply, Health listens to my needs. His devotion to his craft is admirable, and his famous spiral blow dry and super silk treatment are truly remarkable.
Moreover, I must mention Tanya, the master of the tenuous with twirly hair blow dry. This signature technique, developed by Joh Baily and Marilyn and their team, adds a touch of magic to your hair, leaving it beautifully twirled and full of life. Tanya's expertise in this style showcases the salon's commitment to innovation and creativity.
The attention to detail at Joh Salon is evident in every aspect of the experience. Each hair wash is precise, accompanied by a hair massage that highlights their commitment to exceptional service. Even on short notice, the staff works diligently to arrange relaxing and soothing appointments, elevating the overall experience.
Heath's warm and heartfelt welcome made me feel valued as a client. His technical skills in cutting, styling, colouring and treatment position him as a true pioneer in his field. But beyond his expertise, it is his genuine sincerity and passion for his craft that truly shine. Heath consistently delivers brilliance and outstanding quality service, going above and beyond to ensure his clients' satisfaction.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to the entire team at Joh Salon, including as mentioned Chris at reception, Tim, Mel C, Mel T, Amy, Tina, Paul, Yoyo, and many other talented stylists. Their dedication to their craft contributes to the salon's exceptional reputation and creates an environment that exceeds expectations.

Very unprofessional customer service from Marilyn (hung up on me while I was booking my appointment with no apology when I called again). The hairdressers are very nice but I will not be coming back.

Update: Judging by the inadequate response I’ve gotten (one of those ‘sorry that you feel offended’ statements which are incredibly tone deaf and disingenuous) my comments still stand. There’s more nonsense I had to put up with that I didn’t mention in my review but I’m not going to waste my energy on a place I don’t plan on visiting again.

Andrea Oconnelly and Joh Bailey joined as of recently, and the girl who did my highlights did an absolutely awful job. She did two colours on my hair and made me go orange. Also charged me $550. Do not go if you can help it, i made that mistake.

Highly recommend Jacki - he’s one of the best for mens styling, colouring. Very personably, creative, and knowledgeable.

Super salon! Called in without an appointment as I needed some help with styling my hair for an event. The girls were savvy & professional & had me sorted in no time. Highly recommend:)

Extremely disasppointing service. From the receptionist (no greeting, no attention what so ever) to the hairstyling service. No care was taken of my thin, blonde hair. The girl who washed it barely applied any conditioning and the subsequent hairstyling was painful and unpleasant. The hair stylist ripped thorugh all the knots, damaging my hair. All three people involved in my stay were not good. I will not be coming back.

I've been going here for years. Best colour and cut hands down. They always make me feel special and looked after. Great job guys!

I went for the first time to this salon today. I don’t remember the name of the girl that did my hair, sorry. She was a beautiful blonde girl with long hair. She did one of the best blow drying ever. The girl that washed my hair was also perfect. Best of all: they are very fast. I hate when they take long time to do my hair, since I am not fussy about it. I really recommend it. Great location.

5 minutes of cutting and an hour of unnecessary blow drying with 6 hairbrushes hanging in my hair. At the end it looked equivalent to a straight blow dry which could have been done in 10 minutes. They didn’t use any heat protection spray or products and were pulling on my hair excessively and getting it into knots with the heat up way too high. Upon giving feedback to Joh Bailey himself, he was rude and arrogant.

Absolutely fantastic. Great service and great location. Maggie does a great job on colouring my hair.

The hairdressers are fine but low stars based on the basins! They moved so much was the most painful and unpleasant experience and I complained a few times to the girl washing my hair but she said nothing! Just endured a sore neck for days and kinda ruined the experience! Was awhile back so hopefully they fixed them would love to return but don’t want to risk breaking my neck!

One of the worst haircuts I’ve had and it cost me $77! I had to get my wife to fix it when I got home. They were nice, but I don’t think they know how to cut men’s hair.

I wish I could be Jane Fonda to get nice service, but I am not. And what the reason to be nice with me? Right? I deserved only short "I'm done" from Joh Bailey. I am definitely not gonna come back! Overpriced for just chopping the hair. And rude!

Jasmine is amazing- perfect colour and cut every time! I’ve been away for a year and my hair is a mess. Can’t wait to get back to Sydney next week! Hope she can fit me in!
