Edit: I have adjusted my review as this issue has been resolved after I made a formal complaint to Donna at Jindalee. (Previous discussions had been with different staff). Donna promptly had staff come to my property and view the contaminated compost, remove the remaining compost and provided an apology and full refund. I really appreciated her quick resolution after receiving my formal complaint and mostly her apology of the error. I think I have been the unlucky recipient of a “bad batch” and trust Donna’s report that Jindalee are reviewing this fully with their supplier. Thanks Donna.

Original review: I purchased a load of compost. The compost has a significant amount of broken glass fragments, broken hard plastics, soft tissue plastics. See my photos. I found a whole pikster end and whole piping flute. U fortunately it wasn’t obvious at the time of delivery as it only became very visible after rain had washed away the fine compost off the debris. I complained to jindalee regarding the quality of the compost. I received a brush off that this was expected contamination in their processing. No warning or disclaimer of this was provided verbally or in writing at the time of purchase. It is not highlighted on the product page on their website. Regardless, I was told the product goes through a 10mm mesh screen… the pieces of glass I am finding are greater than this. I found a whole pikster, whole piping flute and large chicken bone… obviously larger than 10mm. The original email response I received acknowledged that this was below standard however when I subsequently requested a partial refund given that some of the compost had been used prior to becoming evident how contaminated the compost was, and I was only offered $50 refund on the delivery only. Inadequate.
I now have broken glass throughout the garden that my children play in, and have paid $600 for the luxury of removing shards of glass by hand.
Jindalee do not stand by the quality of their product. They present themselves with photos of their children on their website however clearly do not value the safety of other people’s children.
Check the quality of the compost before you buy from ANY company. And if you wish to use a company who stand behind their product and provide transparent disclaimers on the chance of hazardous contamination, go elsewhere. Jindalee have lost mine and my family’s business.
