Randomly got kicked out of the nye party at defected for some reason, the security guard heard 'a guy in a hawaiin shirt over the radio' and just happened to pick me out of hundreds of other guys were hawaiin shirts.there was another guy getting kicked out with me who was conviently brown as well.racists

Rude security who are obviously racists based on the people you see them pick out as being "intoxicated". Watched as they picked out my friends who they assumed were drunk while allowing the promoter itself of a party stay who was literally passed out on the couch with over 5 people fanning him and pouring water to wake him up.

Racist! Worst experience ever after going to the ivy with a few friends and passing the first part of security we were quickly turned around by a security claiming that one of our friends was seen on the security camera but they wouldn’t explain why. After five minutes of excuses they finally tell us because of his hair he was not allowed in. Because of his cultural hair style he was denied entry and we have wasted $100 on entry and still waiting for our refund!

Heads up if you are in the mood to get rejected by a inbred power tripping bald racist that looks like egg man from sonic look no further, got told to leave after they checked my ID and said I was ok to enter being 2 steps always from entering their venue (ps the entry smells like tradies portaloo in the desert) this big albino shrek looking donkey runs up to me gets in my face and tells me to leave the premises without any reason then starts saying that “it’s been seen on camera” (I was standing in line starring at the ground) then I ask what I did wrong an the vague 6”5 donkey repeats him self then comes up with another vague reason saying “it’s house rules that you can not enter ” as another bald brain dead cow rooter joins in telling me to vacate still with no proper explanation as I turn around and ask them one last time they tell me my hair style is the problem after 5min+ of repeating them selves, I looked up the ivy rules an it says to dress “casual smart”, no mention about hairstyles at all, this place is a embarrassment for its ratings. (I have been staying in a 6 star venue for a week and not one person has mention my hair or denied me entry into their venues) still waiting on a refund for my $120 tickets.

I don't think it's fair that people should be refused entry by a third line of bouncers after going through one line of bouncers for an ID check and one line of staff for ticket purchase. Merivale makes enough money without resorting to these sneaky tactics.

Overcrowded security is rude and disrespectful inside and outside on public street. Management is the worst i've seen so far.
I felt unsafe there.

Best to go when there are events for particular electronic music genres. Regular Friday and Saturday nights are too jam packed.

Bit pricey, I'd only go if there was an international act or special otherwise you can go somewhere else.

They asked where I was from, I said penrith and then got refused entry because of my ‘sneakers’. They were decent vans. Everyone else in the same/similar shoes were allowed in. Not happy

I love Ivy but Ivy hates me. I send them an email, and did not receive the common courtesy of a reply. Why do you hate on me?

My daughter and fiance booked the Ivy ballroom for their recent wedding. I was apprehensive, a venue noted for being a popular nightclub venue.really! Weddings in Sydney are expensive so your choice is expensive or expensive. The Ivy provided a great wedding option. It is a central city location, the event staff incredible and attended to every detail, involving over 230 people.and, not one person complaining about anything. The food, just top-shelf, the service seem-less the staff bringing it all together just so passionate. We could not fault any aspect of the service the Ivy provided.

Incredible place in the city, nice and modern with top class interiors and a real vibrant feel to the whole area itself.

The drinks were pretty expensive but otherwise ivy is a great place with good music. There are different floors you can go to. Two dancefloors, a pool and one lounge type area from what I remember seeing.

The place has changed a lot since I was last there a few years ago. Blame the Sydney lockout laws. But still a classy place to entertain yourself.

This venue honestly shocked me, it’s so beautiful. Nothing like I’ve ever seen before. Incredible venue, went on a Saturday night and the music was epic, lots of people, great vibe. Everywhere I turned I was honestly amazed! I do however can’t wrap my head around a $40 entry fee. Veryyyyyy pricey for a venue that doesn’t offer any sort of discount drinks or compensation with that price. Drinks are around $10 each. Had a great night, but very pricey. I recommend going there just on pay day or when your willing to break the bank nice staff!

Attended a wedding breakfast reception at the Ivy Ballroom and afterwards danced the night away around the pool area.

Who wouldn't love to dance on a Bollywood theme in Sydney! The place is great for a weekend party, very close to Wynyard Station. They offer a nice atmosphere with drinks at affordable prices (they don't charge like other expensive bars of Sydney). Would totally recommend spending the weekend night at this place. If you're not a Bollywood lover, check out their normal party, which I believe is more fun!

Such a great bar to go to when in Sydney! Refreshing drinks and great music make this place a must do!

Great quality restaurants with execllent service. It misses the intimacy of good small business owner operators who meet and greet their returning patrons, but the staff are still first rate.
