Everything about this place is stunning. The rooms with the marble, right down to the finest of details such as the linen on the bed. Just beautiful the view and all, definitely worth the price!
The bar/ restaurant serves the best food! Everything I tried was so good, and im a big foodie so im quite critical.
The rooftop pool, the bar up there, is also immaculate, clean, well designed & you'll want to be there for hours.

The only negatives, were that the service could've been a little better. They could be alot more helpful, and more prompt.

It's luxurious but the service is really lacking. Alot of guest complained about the same thing whilst I was staying there.

When I asked staff simple questions, they failed to provide me answers. In my book, this is poor service that needs to be addressed because this can create conflict in the future. Miscommunication is one of the roots of conflict. I am not impressed.

Really nice looking place - If you’re ever in Double Bay I recommend you visit. The service and staff was not that great.

I didn't stay in a room this time but I went to The Bar on level 1 for cocktails. Very elegant and opulent and good drinks. Staff were very friendly.

From the moment we arrived and still 2 days post our stay, we are having nothing but stressful and frustrating issues with the Intercontinental double bay.

Firstly we booked 4x suites for 14 people. All booked in my name and paid for on my account to make it easier. On arrival we were told all 4 of our rooms were canceled. Apparently this was due to the card declining. We had a confirmation email to confirm our stay but never did we receive any cancelation notices or phone calls. Once I questioned the card they had on file it was the complete wrong number. They then said they did not have my email or phone number on file yet, they sent me a confirmation to my EMAIL.

After a long argument with a rude and arrogant manager we finally got 4 small, undersized economy rooms for the same price as our double room suites!

At check out I was called back from breakfast as they said I had not paid for 1 room. Under further investigation this was incorrect. Cut short my breakfast and wasted 2 hours of my new years morning.

Now sitting at home I can see I have been charged an additional $750 and I have rang twice to request an invoice with the charges and after 12 hours nothing has been sent through.

I have now rang to speak to a manger as clearly the “ overseas staff that take the phone enquiries” as per the manger from the hotel stated are not passing on the correct information and cannot even write down my correct name, email or phone number. I have been on hold for over an hour and now told the manger will call back when they can.

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. We stay at over 20 a year and nothing compares to this terrible place. NOTHING. If you want a Hassle free, relaxing and polite experience, stay as far away as possible from this place.

Not to mention I am a GOLD member.

Stayed 1 night for a staycation and, overall, my partner and I had a good time.
- The room was great and clean, and the bed was comfy.
- The food at the rooftop bar and at the restaurant, The Bar, was amazing (though very pricey!). Service at The Bar was pretty good too.
- The pool was a disappointment; it was so small and there weren’t many lounge chairs so you had to come early in the morning to get a spot! But the view is pretty.
- The breakfast buffet was not worth it. There weren’t many selections and the food was just okay; though the A la Carte dishes were good.

We booked a suite for 5 days. Beautiful interiors in lobby and room was nice too.
Prices are as well known are above average but we dont mind. But what we do mind is then you expect service to be high quality. I am reffering to room service and the staff they didnt clean the room and bathroom well. There was hair on the floor didnt vaccum the area just changed linen and towels didnt even wipe the sink there were tootpaste and soap marks still there. Didnt wipe side tables and food table as well.
There are much better options in this price range so explore!

Beautiful location in double Bay. Loved the view of the room. Nice, cosy and well kept hotel. I just loved the breakfast twice. So fresh and hearty with the most amazing bakery and pastry items. The sourdough bread, the croissant and the coffee were just flawless and perfect.

Just finished work experience here, it is a lovely place. All the chefs are very passionate about the food they make. Silas is a very friendly breakfast chef who prepares the best omelette, while I never got to try it i'm sure that it is very delicious. Adam was very kind and made sure everything was organised and on time. He was kind to all the staff even when they went off task. Robin will make sure that everything is clean while entertaining all the chefs. Patrica always checked up on the staff and made sure everyone was feeling well. Anyone staying at the lovely hotel make sure you stop in to grab something to eat as it will be a great experience made by a very nice team.

Clinton may have stayed here but I never will again, despite having family nearby. For a mere $600 a night, I had a lovely view of a wall. Then, this happened: 1. I checked in at 9 PM, after a 12 hour flight from the States only to be told I couldn't get a glass of wine or food at the bar because, "we're hosting a private party. " Really? However, for $24, they'd be happy to send room service up with a glass. 2. Opened the door to my room and almost gagged from the horrid stench of perfumed, room deodorizer. Tried to open balcony door to breathe but the curtains wouldn't part. Couldn't find any lights to see so had to return to front desk. Christina (lovely) came up to help and even she had trouble opening the curtains. Together, we used the sofa to brace open the door. I froze trying to sleep. By 4 am, after disturbances from drunk guests I went downstairs for coffee. Milan (a Godsend) made me a cup himself. Following day, while working on my computer, the curtains suddenly opened and the lights went off & continued to do so willy nilly throughout my stay. Even with the lights on full & wearing my glasses, I still couldn't read the tiny writing on the heating control in the hallway so had to bundle up. There is no fridge or micro- so at 5 AM the day of checkout, I returned to Milan, yet again, to heat up my coffee. I got back in the elevator with my coffee and pushed the button to my room. The doors closed & nothing happened. Nothing. The elevator didn't budge & the door wouldn't open either, despite countless times of trying to use my room key. I began to call out "Hello, " since it was early & I didn't want to disturb anyone. No one came. There was no emergency phone, but finally, without my glasses, I located a 'bell' sign and pushed. It was loud. Still no one. I began to sweat, my heart raced & I called out again. Nothing. I pushed the bell again & finally, Milan arrived. Apparently, my key had stopped working. Need I say more? And here’s their reply to my review: Response from the owner 2 days ago
Dear Helen,

Check-in process was far too long and clumsy with my credit card swapped with another guest (who coincidently was at the reception desk to complain about other issues). Pillows are old and lumpy. Wifi is so slow there's no point connecting - 3.3mbps.what a complete joke. Will not stay here again.

This hotel once was my favourite in Sydney. The price has doubled but the service and quality has halved. As we were travelling from interstate we were arriving early and called ahead to see if early check in was available. The staff on the phone were incredibly rude and aggressive which I have never experienced. However upon arrival we were able to check in early and the reception staff were nothing short of delightful. The hotel is in desperate need of a refresh, it’s looking tired. So does the service, a request for a cheeseboard and wine to the pool deck was met with too many “I’ll have to see if we can” as the pool bar was closed for winter. The weather was stunning so we wanted to sit in the sun. It didn’t last due to the pool furniture being re-stained and the smell was unbearable. Great that you are doing maintenance but on a weekend in peak period? Every request we made during our stay felt like a burden. The QR didn’t work for room service, the phone was unable to be answered (weird) Cocktail variety was poor and there were no special requests. Room was very small and not catered well for three adults. The view and the beautiful buffet breakfast and staff saved the stay. The best aesthetically pleasing and delicious breakfast I’ve seen at a hotel. However overall, for the price, even though the Intercon used to be my absolute number one, I highly doubt I’ll be back.

The Intercontinental Double Bay is a beautiful hotel. The standout for me was the incredible service I received from all of your staff. I will absolutely be staying here regularly now as a result. I would like to mention that Christian was outstanding and went above and beyond for my guests and I. It was very appreciated. Chad at valet was also super friendly. The other valet staff of whom I didn’t get their name should all be commended too! Thank you for a great experience:)

This was probably one of the worst stays I’ve had at an intercontinental location, rooms weren’t clean and were covered in dust, carpet was coming up and there was mould throughout the bathroom and sealant coming up exposing more mould beneath, room wasn’t serviced once the entire time we were there and there was consistently food trays at our door (not from us) with dirty plates and cutlery we had to step over to get out, unhygienic, and definitely not worth the price. Only good thing about this place was the drink selection and cocktails, although the in room iPads for ordering didn’t work.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Over the past 2 years with various interstate lockdowns, I have stayed in local hotels. I have been in The Star, Sofitel, Fullerton, Crown Plaza in Coogee beach etc. Of course, they were all good but I liked this hotel the most.

1. Super quick check-in experience. At the Star and Sofitel, there were long queues. The Star's queue is always extremely long with 30 min - 1 hour wait times being the norm.

2. Super luxurious rooms. I really love the modern interior and the marble tiles in the bathroom. The automatic curtains was also a pleasant surprise.

3. Heaps of entertainment options. I was able to watch the El Classico on BeIn 2 Sports channel which many hotels do not offer.

4. You have a choice of buffet or a regular breakfast menu. I only eat a small breakfast (1 toast) and I always hated having to pay >$50 for a buffet breakfast for one slice of toast.

Of course, the staff were very friendly, was accommodating to my request for a room change but these are basics that all other hotels were good at too. The above 4 points are things I didnt see at other hotels. Highly recommended.

The hotel is just gorgeous, very welcoming and has a lovely calm ambiance. The GM is outstanding and the staff were very hospitable and accommodating, the rooms were immaculate and extremely clean. The roof top pool and bar is just divine! Highly recommend checking the views out from here. We enjoyed our stay very much, we will definitely be back! Thank you Intercontinental Double Bay

Used to always stay in the CBD, but wanted a change. Love this hotel, the spacious rooms with balcony, beautiful decor throughout and perfect service all in a lovely location. Has a boutique feel for corp hotel. I’ll be back.

We spent our honeymoon in a room with the blinds drawn as the "courtyard view" room was in fact ground level with windows into the public courtyard, a dozen kids were high pitched screaming at the top of their lungs and it was a public holiday so everywhere was closed. I approached the front desk, they said "we were in the right room" (did not offer me any alternative options, I would have paid any amount of money at this point) and said they have no control of behaviour in public areas. Honeymoon ruined, will never be back.

If you're after a luxury hotel experience I'd recommend you try somewhere else.

Attention to detail sets a mediocre hotel apart from an impressive one and Intercontinental Double Bay is left a bit lacking.

On entering our room there was a bottle of wine, chocolates and a welcome note, addressed to someone else. Called reception and let them know they might have mixed up the rooms.

Half an hour later a staff member arrives at the door with a bottle of champagne. We suggested they may perhaps have the wrong room again? Yes they did - and promptly took back the champagne and the wine and the chocolates.

It's enough to make Basil Fawlty blush.

Two of the five lamps in our room didn't work. The controller next to the bed to operate the curtains was broken. The scales in the bathroom out of batteries.

All small things, but something a $600 a night hotel should be able to get right.

The view across the harbour is lovely. All the rubbish on the common hotel balcony that no-one could be bothered picking up, not so much.

Whether mismanagement or laziness, it feels a little bit like the hotel has given up on being anything more than just barely ok.

My fiancé and I were considering hosting our wedding at the Intercontinental Double Bay, however due to the poor organisation of events staff, we will definitely not be hosting any function there. After arriving early for our viewing appointment, no one from the events team was available to guide us. Instead, a staff member named Annabel with no events knowledge reluctantly showed us around. She stated the events team would follow up with us via email the next day. It has been 3 days. Very disappointing service.
