My GOTO experts for all power supply related issues!
As always they are helpful, knowledgeable and fast.
This time the job was critically urgent and they came through and helped our client get back into production within a few hours.

Very few engineers have the niche ability that is control has, hard to find specialist skills to this degree these says

First, I would like to say that I do not take writing a review of this nature lightly. I would not normally take the time to write something like this, but if I could save someone else from having the same experience that I had, then I guess it is worth it.

Initially, I gave Indcontrol two power supplies and a remote control to repair. These are parts that I am having fixed on behalf of my customer. The remote control had two issues, one was the charging port and the other was the buttons not working. After not replying to two follow-up emails from me I needed to call Michael to find out exactly what was going on. It's worth mentioning that almost every time I spoke to Michael, it was like I was speaking to him for the first time. He barely knew who I was, or what I was calling about.

After a few weeks, the parts were finally ready. The next day I then went away on a family holiday, with the parts at my house. While I was away, my customer informed me that their last remote control was broken in an accident, and they desperately needed the one I had repaired. As I was unable to verify the repairs myself, I was a little concerned that the repairs might not have been done correctly, nevertheless, I had the part couriered to my customer. My fears were realised when I was informed that the remote was still unusable - the buttons were still not working. It turns out the $750 of the bill that was attributed to the remote repairs was the cost of fixing a 12v charging port (2x soldering joins and a 50c part from China).

When I got home, I collected the remote from my customer and took it apart. I found that the domes underneath the buttons that give the button its tactile "pop" needed to be replaced. So, I got in touch with a dome manufacturer in the US and had new domes delivered. Easy fix. THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD EXPECT INDCONTROL TO DO.

I regretfully decided to give Indcontrol another shot. I had called out Michael about the expensive cost of repairing a charging port and he said that he would transfer some of that cost onto the next job. The next job was to repair a few components on the PCB of the remote, as it had been damaged by a forklift. The transceiver, the LDC display and the SMA connector needed replacing. Michael assessed the unit himself when I brought it into his shop. He even got calipers out to measure the thread of the SMA connector. After a few days I received an email from Michael offering me a ridiculous solution (see attached image) to the button issue that the remotes had. I told him not to worry as I had domes coming from the US, and if he could just carry on with the PCB repairs, and provide an estimate of when they would be complete. TO WHICH I RECEIVED NO REPLY. Two-and-a-half weeks later, I followed up with an email. The next day I received a reply from an Indcontrol employee saying "We can't repair this unit. The display is broken, the antenna plug is missing and the keyboard is missing. There is too much damage". This epitomises the incompetence of this business. Does this employee realise that his boss was the person who assessed the unit when I brought it in?

When I rang Michael and find out what was going on, he didn't really have much of an answer for me. That afternoon he wrote this email "I looked at the board and it is incomplete. We can’t power it up as we don’t know where the power supply fits. In my opinion it is beyond economical repair and only to be used as spare parts. ". Thanks for making me wait nearly a month to tell me something you could have told me the day you assessed it. But wait! Is it really beyond economical repair? After 30 minutes of searching on RS Components and JayCar, I located my parts. New LCD - $9.95. New SMA Connector - $2.90. New Transceiver - $48.12. THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD EXPECT INDCONTROL TO DO.

In summary, these guys are completely incompetent, I would strongly suggest finding another business to do your repairs. Indcontrol has nearly ruined my relationship with my customer. STAY AWAY!

Michael and his team were able to locate our system's faults and rectify very quickly and professionally. There are fewer and fewer of these kinds of repairers around these days and this one is a real gem.
