Getting flat built in our rentals backyard, some of the builders tradies, plumbers are so inconsiderate of us still living here.

Our waterproofing in the bathroom was not done properly. Cubbits decided to start the repairs on Easter week, told it would take 10 days. Spent 5 weeks without a bathroom. Did damage the the lounge room, clogged the shower drain with concrete, damaged the mirror, damaged a wardrobe shelf unit and the painting was horrible. Builders didn’t notice the damage they had done or the poor job they had done. I had to chase them up. They where rude and unorganised, showed up when ever they liked or not at all. Organised people to show up to do works without telling us. This started in April it’s now September and it’s still going. Completely incompetent. How hard is it? I wanna know.

Visited on a Saturday as a walk in, nobody was able to assist or help me as I didn’t have an appointment so had to leave and be followed up by phone at a later date.

Stress free experience building my granny flat with Cubitts. Highly recommended if you are looking to build a granny flat. Everything went so well with the built from start to finish. All staff and my site supervisor excellent service.

We live in our newly built granny flat and really appreciate the good quality. The build was pretty easy and the contractors came back in a reasonable time frame to fix issues at the end. We have already recommended them to family members and others. Cubbitts might not be the cheapest but it's worth paying for quality and a smooth process. Even things like having full insulation included means you don't need to think about what's missing.

Difficult build, business does not respond or your given promises that don't fix the problem involving lengthy delays for any action. Very Very frustrating experience, one I wish I missed out on. This build has sucked the life out of me.

I hired Cubitts to build a granny flat. I did a lot of research ahead of selecting Cubitts, and really glad I did that due diligence. The overall job was well executed. Brad the project manager, communicated each week with an e-mail update, followed by a phone call. Brad managed the trades persons and supplies well throughout. The trade-persons were very professional throughout. During the planning phase, the planning team were also very good, and so were the accounts department. This is the worst builder in my experience. I have built 10 houses in my the last 22 years. Very involved in price gouging as well as bad response when we have issues. The staff of their contractors do not care how they treat your property.

Greg and Brad done a great job on our mothers granny flat, built in record time and to the highest standards. All the trades were very professional and always on time, the boys and girls always had time to answer any questions I had about the build. My wife and I are Extremely happy with Newcastle Granny Flats. We started as owner builders and when seeking additional funding from our bank we were told no unless we locked in a contract to completion with a builder. We tried several. No one would touch us as our build was challenging on a very steep block. Thanks to Ben and the team, early completion ahead of the contracted date saw us have the house tenanted quickly. Took a load of stress away and the finish is fantastic.

They organized Council approval for us as our granny flat had initially been declined, they fought hard with Council and we won. Work was performed very efficiently. Our site managers Peter and Brad were superb, just nice honest people. They kept us informed by email about the work that was to be done in the coming week. We even had some work done on a few Saturdays. The work was completed a month ahead of time. The house included everything, down to blinds etc, many of the others sting you for this stuff, but Ian Cubitts give you real finished price. We have no hesitation in recommending Ian Cubitt's Classic Home Improvements. In fact, we have already done so.

Fantastic Quality & Service!
The team at Newcastle Granny Flats were great from the very start. From the Initial home consults (discussing the proposals/granny flat concepts), through to the final receipt of keys. The finish was great and the overall quality of the granny flat is excellent and could not be faulted. The team were always courteous, professional and proactive throughout, delivering a quality product whilst keeping my partner and I fully informed throughout the journey. I couldnt fault Brad & Pete (in charge of the build), they were always very professional, knowledgeable and very responsive to requests. Great effort team, we now have a beautiful home in our backyard for our Mum to live!

Newcastle Granny Flats has been absolutely fantastic throughout our building journey, from our first phone call to our finished granny flat. Each staff member, trade person and contractor has been punctual, friendly, informative, patient, understanding and accurate. I can not thank or recommend Ben and his team enough for our smooth running, on time and quality granny flat build.

The quality of the work was very good and construction was mostly trouble free. There were a few delays with small things right at the end which was a little frustrating but all in all they did a good job. I found them to be courteous, helpful and fair through the process and made good on a couple of minor faults on completion.
My only real issue with them was that they quoted a price which included plastic cladding and other basics for a house to be built in a bushfire prone area. The house needed a bushfire upgrade which increased costs by about 10 percent. With their experience, I thought they could have foreseen this.
