Hot Star Large Fried Chicken reviews
25Went there at 9 pm and they close at 9: 30. They advised that they only did original fried chicken and nothing else. Was disappointed as I would have spent $40 otherwise on other options. Not sure why they stop serving 90% of the menu half an hour before they close. The chicken was not fresh either which probably means they serve the old leftovers for the day. They need to some how let people know that it’s limited menu half an hour before close so people don’t waste their time.
Compared to my last visits last year, it feels like they've dropped their standards on the quality of food. I'm tasting more of the burnt taste of the chicken than the seasoning which they only put on one side.same goes with the other shops in Hurstville and the CBD.
We were walking around Bankstown on our own food tour when we came across this place and made it our second stop. We ordered 8 chicken wings with a spicy coating. Service was a little slow from taking our order to making it, but it was worth the wait. The chicken was tasty, spicy, and piping hot out of the fryer. There is no internal seating it is standing room only in the small entryway or on the street, hence the lack of atmosphere other than the hustle and bustle of Bankstown's own little Vietnam in Chapel Street. While the chicken wings were tasty, they didn't live up to the name large fried chicken. They were more Red Rooster size than buffalo wing sized. I'd still recommend them nonetheless and will try more of the menu next time to experience the large fried chicken in the name. There is outdoor seating not far away that does have an atmosphere allowing us to watch the Friday afternoon hustle and bustle.
Got the chicken after 30 minutes waited. Just only one employee who works in the shop in the rush hour at night. Cannot understand.
When they first open at Bankstown, it was great but within this last year it went downhill. They changed the extremely chilli powder to something more mild so now spicy isn't even spicy and if I get extra spicy I end up with 40% of meal being tasteless, slightly spicy powder. They also got new workers recently. The new workers can't even get the order correctly, sometimes giving me no chicken salt on my chips or not adding spice to the chicken. The only reason I even still buy from this place is that I can add my own chilli powder at home and when they get my order correctly it tastes amazing.
They claim to be the No. 1 fried chicken brand in Taiwan. Having tried their food, I can believe it. The fried chicken was well spiced (not too salty, not over spiced), crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside.
Dropped by this afternoon and ordered the chicken bites.
Haven't visited this place for years.
The wait could be quicker but not a deal breaker.
The portion is smaller than what it once was.
The chicken pieces were also much smaller, it was also dry and tought to the point that I had to really use those muscles just to get the provided wooden fork into the chicken.
Taiwanese fried chicken is famous for it's size and for being moist, this is neither.
It should also came with fried basil and it didn't.
Quality have really dropped, very disappointed.
Best Hot Star in this surrounding area.
The guys use an amazing thick batter and fry this to crispy and not too oily perfection!
The food is good usually, a bit pricey, but they give me the wrong drink usually than I specify
Customer service is bad, and I asked for little spicy but they make me extra spicy and too salty.
Really, really good chicken, and tasty chips and squid. Decent prices. There is a long wait but it just shows it's cooked fresh. I need to know what the 5 spice seasoning mix is they use on the chicken, it's so good!
I ordered it and was really kind when the staff there wrote thank you note on my bag. And 1 can of soft drink even though I didn't order it, maybe a combo, which I bought many times before but didn't have?
Poor customer service. Have to wait for over 30' for 2 order of chicken and one of them is stone cold whilst the other order was being served for someone else.
Waited for 30’ for 8 pieces of chicken. When asked, the employee said he gave it to someone else as we were not there but the other portion of the order was left in the counter to cold.
Love the original chicken. Large. Tasty. Crunchy. The sweet potato is good too. I tried the chicken bites (little spicy) too but it was more like "spicy" or extra spicy. The spiciness doesn't have any extra flavour to it. Would juat stick to original.
Best fried chicken ever, good customer service. I highly recommend chicken wings and squid with garlic seasoning powder. Crunchy outside juicy inside. Must try!
Arrived before closing time but was told they were closing early tonight. Very disappointed after driving here specifically for the fried chicken. I will not be back!
Hi guys i wanted you to know that the staff up there is being partial and serving their community first. I have ordered and after me 2 persons have ordered as well but the staff knows the 3 person and served him first and when i asked him he came after me and how could he serve him first he was not having any thing to say and the other staff came from inside and said sorry and told to take coke as complimentary. I have seen this second time first time they have done it with a lady and this time it happened with me.
Crispy, moist, tasty, spicy; this Chicken franchise puts out delicious snacks at amazing prices.
I’ve had both the large chicken and the tenders from here and I have no complaints.
If you haven’t tried Hot Star before I really recommend you get yourself here and give it a shot!
Chicken was good and has a strong sense of smell, but the food isn't worth the price, the curly fries were good for fries but they have a variety amount of weird food like fried eggplant. The service wasn't the best, you could immediately tell that they had no choice and needed some money.
A 2 star rating is for the chicken taste but missed out 3 stars because it's a rip off. Go KFC, if there is a Hot Star chicken next to you, just go KFC although this Hot Star is in Bankstown so do whatever you want.
