Hornsby Salvation Army Family Store (No Furniture Donations, Call 137258 for Salvos Pick Up) reviews
14Well priced. Shame they got rid of the discount days.would be handy to have them especially during such hard financial times currently.
Full of treasures at excellent prices. The staff are lovely and helpful. I bought quite a few items recently and a kind lady who served me insisted on taking some things to my car. This place is a gem.
I love Hornsby Salvos!
It is an Aladdin’s cave of treasures with something for everyone. Clothes, books, toys, entertainment, bric a brac, electrical, new and used (and more!), are to be found in this store at really really great prices for the savvy buyer. Think 50c for children’s books $1-$1.50 for adults books, $2 for DVDs, gorgeous potted plants for $3-$8.
The store is run by an efficient and approachable manager, and a wonderful team of lovely and helpful volunteers.
My elder daughter picked up a formal dress with the tags still on for $30 a couple of years ago and people were stunned at her lucky buy with her sensational dress. I have purchased a second hand sewing machine for my younger daughter to learn to sew on which works as well my expensive once-new one, plus it also has a 12 month warranty. Last week I picked up a plain coloured single bed 3 piece percale sheet set still in its package for $20.
This morning I purchased some new Christmas decorations for a wreath I am making. Yes, I could go to Colesworths to pick up some inexpensive items for the job, but I prefer buying quality items at low prices whenever possible from this charity shop, which in turn uses the proceeds to help real people in need rather than already prosperous shareholders.
Of course, keep in mind, timing is everything! Some days you’ll find a load of stuff you’d like and others perhaps not; it really is pot-luck how you’ll go on the day. I think it must be a rare person who gets out of there without something taking their fancy during a visit though.
Keep up the great work, Salvos Family Store Hornsby!
Excellent people to deal with. Very helpful with unloading our bags of clothes, good parking and good natured people. We drove up from Forestville as our local charity shops are so ********* rude at times. Keep up the good work and see you again soon with more clothes and household items.xx
Great place for good quality 2nd hand clothes and other things -unlike some other charity shops the items for sale are clean not broken torn or damaged and a reasonable price -ty to all the ppl who volunteer their time to serve the community
A family place of Worship and Praizes to our God and Savior Jesus Christ. We had a great family day few days ago.
Great staff, helpful and polite. A great variety of clothes -men women kids. Shoes bags and costume jewellery. Ornaments. Glassware and kitchen essentials. Books and DVDs. Reasonable prices. Very pleasant shopping experience.
Staff friendly, a lot of stuff for people to choose. I live around but I hate the arrangement of early morning 5: 00 to collect wooden rubbish -big bang noise when dumped into the truck.
I buy here all time. But lately there is a older asian lady on the floor who is always rude to me and other customers. You have just lost a good customer. Not shopping here anymore taken my money elsewhere.
The young Chinese lady can not speak English, and she works there, and she's aggressive; I feel sorry for the clients dealing with the salvation army employment office Hornsby.
This was a really great op shop. Sadly in the last months the prices have skyrocketed. Pricing on some items is more expensive than brand new in a shop.
Quite honestly, they have more than you’d think, especially at just a first glance from the road. I always enjoyed stopping in!
My favourite op shop. This is how op shops should run. They put everything out for you to look through at a great price! They have amazing sale days, where I see them raising money for their causes. Other op shops should take note - it’s not about trying to make the shop look fancy where they barely put out stock/overcharge like a wounded bull.
If you are looking to donate to this store, I would highly recommend them. They have off street parking with a dedicated area for cars parking to donate. Their staff are very friendly and they will happily unload for you. This is really welcome if you are donating something heavy, like boxes of books. Clothing and bric-à-brac are also welcomed. If you are making repeat visits, the process is quick and effortless- you can be in, unloaded and out again in minutes. Books are most welcome if they have not yellowed, for clothing it would help them to wash and dry all apparel first. The Hornsby outlet is worth making your donation destination, as I get the good vibe that they are genuinely appreciative of donations received. This place has good karma.
