Excellent stroll from Watson bay
If you include your ferry trip, a tour of the town and a lunch break at the harbour this is your day trip!

Awesome spot through a historical trail surrounded by nature. Really breathtaking scenery! Worth a trip out on an afternoon. The path can be quite busy as it’s a popular spot!

Local friends took us on a very nice drive from Sydney to Coogee. This was one of our favorite stops w/ the views looking back into Sydney.

Take the Ferry from Circular Quay (Wharf 2 - departing 15 minutes to and 15 minutes past the hour) to Watsons Bay. Head up the hill to the lookout at 'The Gap' for some terrific scenes. Then follow the path north around to 'The South Head Heritage Trail'. Follow this to the Hornby light and the fortifications. Return back the way you came, to the Watsons Bay Ferry Terminal. Ferry departs for Circular Quay 15 minutes to and 15 minutes past the hour.and the total walk is approximately 6 kms. A great way to spend the morning.and why not top it off with a seafood lunch at the famous 'Doyles'. Right at the terminal.

I think i saw a ghost last time I went here around the side of the lighthouse and I gave the poor thing quite a fright so I'd say that someone should get some paranormal investigators out here so that the ghost doesn't get scared by tourists

Someone pinched the B from the sign and my juvenile mind found that more entertaining than the view

Beautiful historical lighthouse. The walk from Watsons Bay to Hornby Lighthouse is simply sensational, a pleasure that should be experience by everyone, South Head Heritige Walk is a hidden treasure. Easy clear paths to follow and very much a calming and refreshing way to enjoy Sydney Harbour.

Definitely recommend doing this walk if in Sydney. The track is paved and easy to walk to get here. Rustic old lighthouse great for photos along with beautiful cliff faces and harbour views. Some old WWII remnants also present. A must do.

The walk wasnt too bad, there was a nice little place next to the Lighthouse where you could sit by the edge of the cliff and enjoy the view (kinda dangerous tho dont recommend)

It's one of those odd things with Sydney that a spot like this is almost completely undeveloped. I guess it's kind of nice. Most countries would have huge apartment towers in a place like this.

An old heritage built in 1858 which still looks glorious. The views from the place are breathtaking. One of the best place for whale watching during winter and enjoy a good sunset.
Needs alittle bit of maintenance and a bit of coat of painting and it will look like new again.

Nice vantage point and lookout. A short easy walk, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the whales in the distance.

The lighthouse itself is in need of restoration, but the surrounding park is beautiful! Great hiking trail and historic gun mounts. The cliffs are amazing!

This place is just few minutes drive from Macquarie Lighthouse. There are quite a few spot of parking.

You also have an access to Lady Beach Before reaching the light house.

I don’t suggest the place to visit with children. It’s a bit of a long walk through the stairs so if you have a pram it’s a big no no also I have notice a lot of drunk youngsters walking around the place and doing weird jumping stands. So I don’t recommend this place if you will bring kids. I didn’t know so I came along with my 3yrs old boy. Though he enjoyed we ended up carrying him on the way back plus felt a bit anxious with the drunk peeps that’s all over the place?

But overall the view is stunning

Comfortable 1-hr return walk from Watsons Bay Ferry Wharf. The lighthouse looks impressive (but could use a lick of paint) and helpful information signs tell the history of the site.

Great easy walk along coast, South Head Heritage Trail Loop. Magnificent views of the coast and city. A few gun pits and 2 canons along the route. No drones allowed in the area. Dangerous cliff edges. Easy access to Lady Bay nude beach. Fishing allowed. Work up an appetite for delicious fish n chips at the famous Doyles or other cafes nearby. Toilets and changing facilities available.

Very cute, need a bit of a spruce up but would definitely recommend the walk up from Watson’s Bay to the cliffs. It’s nice to sit and watch the lighthouse and the view on a weekend afternoon.
