Holdsworth House Medical Practice Byron Bay / First Light Healthcare reviews
12Dr Peter S and his assistant Maggie were beyond terrible when treating me. Maggie lied, forgot to book appointments, call me and told me to come in on days they were closed. I was left without medication for days. I had to pay $100+ for a GP appointment to get medication and I ended up in hospital. Their service has truly traumatised me and made me far too scared to take any other medication as the one Peter gave me made me gain 15Kg, migraines, night terrors ect. Appalled and baffled there hasn’t been complaint filed for health and safety. They did NOT prioritise my health and safety and worsened my condition severely.
I had to pay for a double consult which lasted 25 mins to get 2 referral letters to see specialist and a pathology form to get my regular blood test (every 3 months) for a pre-existing condition.
Then a few weeks later I had a 4 min tele health consult to get my blood test result over the phone. This was charged as a single consult at $82.
I have been a patient/client for over a decade and have been terribly disappointed since the transition from Holdsworth House to First Light Healthcare.
My advice: keep an eye on the clock because if you a slow speaker or thinker or you are just not feeling well and want to discuss it in detail.it will cost you more than you think at First Light.
My doctor is great the telephone service has changed with Holdsworth house gone and I cannot get on to make an appointment, how does that support medical care?
One of the doctors tried to convince me numerous times I was imagining symptoms of a condition later confirmed by another clinic. Having said that, Dr Sheahan is great. Very down to earth and realistic about medicine.not sure why he's bothering to work here.
As a traveler in Byron bay I needed an appointment to address a very irritating eye injury. The staff were very friendly and managed squeeze me in for an early appointment with no trouble at all. My doctor was very professional and quickly diagnosed and remedied the problem. Can recommend their services to anyone.
I was kept waiting an hour, then the Dr was completely patronising, dismissive and rude. I will be going back to my usual GP in Shirley St. Terrible experience.
My complaint is with the business practice of this clinic. We have been going to Holdsworth House since it opened in Byron. Prior to that we attended the previous medical clinic at that location, a total of 19 years. Their medical service has been very good. We have been continuously bulk billed. When we made the appointment this morning, we had no reason to think the billing changed. The doctor, who my son saw, chose to use his discretion and bill my son, who is on a pension, for a 10 minute visit. The clinic practice is not transparent when they do not inform a client when making an appointment over the phone that they may not be bulk billed, especially when that client has been bulked billed for every other visit for 19 years to that clinic. They are unprofessional and inconsistent in this business practice. We will not attend Holdsworth House in the future.
I love this clinic, they are queer and trans friendly, and the reception staff are great. Dr Hugh Macleod is my GP and he is a well informed health care provider with a really nice and calm energy.
I have tried to lodge a complaint through normal channels for many months now, the ceo Sarah Holland has ignored all requests/invitation to communicate but has only re-iterated the doctors statement which is a fundamental failure to address my concerns as a person patient.i sought a safe dosage of medication one could acquire at a chemist with no trouble. I am on warfarin o it's paramount to check with a GP.in
August I had a major bout ofdepression.i. I asked gp for help/support and my concerns were dismissed. I was heavily depressed suicidal and I was told by gp of five years to seek a psychiatric evaluation as my concerns weren't general and to find another doctor.as a result i am recovering from a suicide depression and the ceo Sarah would rather call the nsw police and block my emails than addressing my concerns or accepting my multiple requests to communicate.i have tried calling Sarah Holland on at least ten occasions and six months later I am still to receive a phone call or mail of any description, this experience has affected me and it's simply unacceptable.a doctor should address there patients concerns, not there own, If you think someone has mh issues, help them don't discriminate, thanks for your time
The psychiatrist there charges $ 10 / minute, a crazy, unethical rate not justified by any world status research
Friendly staff. Easy to get appointments at or near desired time. Dr Hugh is fabulous. I attend clinic monthly and always get a detailed and thorough appointment. Never feel rushed. Sadly, the artwork at this practice is no where like the Sydney practice. In fact when I am next in Sydney I am going to take some artwork from HH Sydney and bring it back to Byron.
