HMAS Onslow reviews
9 Great place to visit. The ticket must be purchased either online or on the spot. You need a Maritime Museum ticket to visit.
Everyone from a little boy to a grown man wants to see a submarine. He has the opportunity here, so why not take advantage of it.
I’m not sure how many places in the world you can do a sub tour but this one feels special. Personally I feel truly terrified how so many people live inside such a small compartment. It’s an experience worth paying for. The volunteer tour guide are ready to answer questions if you have them.
Tour guides were very knowledgeable of the HMAS Onslow. The Legendary 90 metre vessel was commissioned in the late 1960’s and served Australia & allies for 30 years. The engine room with twin V-16 diesel engines was a standout for me and it is baffling to see so many valves, gauges & hydraulics throughout the sub and really appreciate how tight the internal areas are. The HMAS Onslow is definitely worth researching and there are plenty of available videos & facts to be found on the usual servers.
The interior of Onslow was very narrow we had to hunch over to get through it, the experience was mind blowing and we tried to imagine what it would be like to live and battle inside. It was so fresh for us and our first time inside a submarine, it was a good historical experience, it also sank a US aircraft carrier in the RIMPAC military exercises and was preserved as a museum in the 1980s.
Having a guided tour by peter (volunteer) was fun and informative! Left with so much knowledge, gratitude, and happiness
Well-preserved vessel with friendly guides.
There are people who can tell you about each section they're stationed at who can tell you about the details of the shop and some of its history.
There are plaques all over telling stories of the people and the details of the ship too.
Grate experience definitely recommend, tour guides were amazing they clearly loved what they are doing.
$35 for Adult ticket. You can go to both submarine and the big ship and video screen in the building. Have some lovely volunteer tour guy to show us around and give some information about the history etc.
Bit overpriced especially when you have kids too.
