I arrived home from my Heal For Life Foundation retreat on Friday night. I’ve been trying to put my experience into words since then. I stumbled upon this amazing organisation when looking for groups for adult survivors of CSA.
My retreat began on Sunday afternoon. The property is in Hunter Valley and it is magical. Absolutely magical. A psychologist or similar is the facilitator then there are four peer support mentors (who also have extensive training) and 7 participants.
I have made new friends, learned new skills to help me navigate my way in life as a survivor and also developed new boundaries to protect myself in the ongoing social media issues. The workshops were amazing. I’m not a crier but spent the last couple of days either crying or laughing! It was incredibly powerful. Now that I have attended the retreat I have the opportunity to attend training days and zooms and family days and can attend the property for breaks or to write my book. Once you have completed a retreat, the land belongs to you too! I wish
I wish I could explain more but I just have no words. It truly was incredible. I feel now I am able to put boundaries in place effectively and protect myself in everything I do. THANK YOU - TJ

Terrible service. DO NOT TRUST THEM AT ALL. BOYCOTT. They will be sued. Liars. I was traumatised by a situation and being the racist, lying, hypocritical, judgmental, assuming, manipulative people that they are (notably the female owner - Liz) they slandered and defamed me with a rumor. Never once did I say anything or suggest that a person was a perpetrator. I used an umbrella term and they twisted what I said with their interpretation in conjunction with the police. They also lack integrity which is necessary to build trust with people not the other way around. You ask people how they are feeling, what they believe and think - not assume and then punish them for it, Liz also refused to give me a manual that they were selling. Information is given freely - she didn't invent anything and nothing was copywritten that wasn't available. I was also judged about not bringing seemingly enough food. I brought as much as I could given that I wasn't working which was enough and I ate little. And when I went to pray in the Church she asked me what I was doing there. Ummm hello, to pray. The door was open and I was using the service. Had I been a white Anglo I would have been treated extremely differently. Their day is coming soon.

I feel so grateful to have been fortunate enough to experience an adult healing week at Heal For Life.
The location is superbly immersed in nature. You get the opportunity to unplug and escape the responsibilities of everyday life. The staff and volunteers are incredibly welcoming and supportive, I truly felt safe and heard. The program and content is well structured and delivered to allow you to look inwards and listen to your body and the messages it is trying to send. You have the opportunity to process past trauma and negative experiences in a safe and supported manner. They also teach you the skills to continue doing this once you leave and return home. I had a truly profound experience and understand how my trauma had continued to negatively show up in my life as an adult and parent.
I feel empowered to break the cycle of abuse and trauma that has plagued my family. I feel hopeful that my girls will have a brighter future and I trust that I have the skills to continue healing myself. Forgiveness is a great place to be. I can’t recommend this experience enough. If you are considering attending, I urge to you to give it a go. You will be surprised at how life changing it can be.

My 5 nights at HFL was a life changing experience. It has been the only time in my whole life I've been able to feel my feelings in a safe space, free from judgement, with people who "got it". The connections I made with the other guests were unforgettable & I hope will last a lifetime. The counsellors were so supportive, understanding & loving. I highly recommend anyone who has childhood trauma to give it a go. You deserve it.

Life changing is the only way I can describe my Adult Healing week! Not only did I meet and spend time with some beautiful people, the workshops and group sessions helped me to identify feelings, learn how to de-trigger myself in times of fight/flight/freeze, and then go deeper still to work on processing long-held emotions (some dating back to childhood).

I left the healing week feeling as if a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders and chest, and credit some long overdue plate smashing in the “anger pit” and screaming to the hills for shifting this, and thank our facilitator and team members, who provided a safe space for us to express emotions as we needed to feel them, without judgement. Instead they showed nothing but compassion, love and understanding.

Since returning home, I have been able to implement many of the skills learnt during my week, and have been able to be more present, calm and compassionate with my own family. I’m hopeful about the future, and have let a number of negative feelings go. That said, I know that healing can be a life-long process, but I’m so grateful to Heal for Life, to have had the opportunity to start it.

Heal for life is an amazing foundation ran by Liz Mullinar who is a beautiful kind loving soul who has tirelessly devoted her time money and energy into creating a tranquil safe haven for survivors of abuse and trauma
Her program has helped countless survivors to work though and come to terms with their traumas
I am one such survivor that has benefited greatly from this program and will be forever great full for all the love compassion and support I have received from Heal for Life staff and volunteers on my healing journey

It's such a relief to find somewhere who finally understand what I am feeling, the staff are so open and easy to talk to and put you at ease. My ongoing experience with the Trauma Centre has been having a hugely positive impact on my life. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with a traumatic experience in their life.

Leslie Hills psychologist cancelled the appointment an hour before it began only when I called to confirm the time. She tried to tell me torture is not trauma.during the first session she offered no comments and looked at her watch constantly. Eventually if you need a letter from her about your condition, she won't write it. Before booking there I said I needed a brief letter to my GP and when she agreed I got referral to go there. Very disrespectful. Once there she cancelled me last me in case one day I need her to write a letter like every other professional psychologist to say what she has done. Retraumatised me. Avoid.
