Head Academy Kung Fu Leichhardt

My 10 year old son has been attending Head Academy Leichhardt for the past 4 years. It's always a highlight of our week. The instructors are consistent, highly knowledgeable and very caring. They instill confidence and respect in their students through warm and supportive leadership and expert instruction. My son has benefited so much from his time at Head Academy - not only by acquiring physical skills and confidence but also developing emotional resilience and discipline. I'm so grateful we found Head Academy and regularly recommend it to others.

Our two children attend Head Academy and we’ve been impressed by the knowledge and skills of their staff, as well as how great they engage with the children. They went above and beyond during lockdown, by providing extra online classes for the whole family. I highly recommend them!

My kids started training here because a friend recommended it. I started training here because I was impressed with how they trained my kids. Confident, capable and helpful instructors. Well-equipped studio. Mats smell like hundreds of people train there barefoot every week, probably because hundreds of people train there barefoot every week. That's literally the only fault I can think of. 100% would recommend.

I appreciate everything about this school. My son trained here for 6 years and I have trained since 2016. The instructors are amazing with both kids and adults. They pay attention to their students strengths and weaknesses and teach accordingly.
The instructors breadth of knowledge, not only about Kung Fu, but fitness, strength and conditioning make this an amazing place to train, for complete over all great physical and mental health.

The instructors are measured, kind and take a supportive approach to encourage the kids. The dojo is clean and spacious. There's a great mix of girls and boys and the kids advance through grades at a good rate. It's very well priced. We are super happy! Highly recommend Head Academy.

Our son has been attending Head Academy since he was 4 years old. He started in Tiny Tigers and is now 10 years old. Head Academy are great with the kids and adults alike. Our son loves going to Kung Fu every Thursday and learning to be a better version of himself. It is not about moving up and getting the next sash. It is about, skill, discipline, truth and above all having fun! Fun with friends and a community that has the greatest heart and soul of any business in Australia.

My daughter and her best friend started here a number of years ago as juniors. Under the supervision of Ken, Harrison, Eric, and later Jun, both my daughter and her friend have risen through the ranks to receive their junior Black Sashes and have nearly completed their adult Black Sashes. Over time they have learnt leadership, personal responsibility, discipline, and inner strength. Both girls are now giving back to the school as Instructors. Head Academy doesn't just teach Kung Fu, it teaches life skills that will ultimately reward anyone who is willing to immerse themselves in this martial art.

My son started here when he was about 4, and my daughter started as soon as she could. It's been great for them. My son struggled to join in at first, but the instructors are great with anxious kids and put in so much time to make him feel at ease and settled. I joined myself a few years later, and really enjoy it. It's a friendly, relaxed and welcoming place, which caters to all ages. Within the curriculum, they do a great job of almost tailoring things you suit each person, while still challenging and encouraging them along the way.

I've been training at this academy since 2009 and it has been one of the greatest decisions in my life. I know now that i will be training Kung Fu for the rest of my life owing to the physical and mental benefits as well as the self defence taught here.
The community support and the feeling of family and ego-free training really create a space where you can grow your skills without judgement.

I highly recommend this school having been a student there for 11 years. Classes are tailors to all types of people, ages, fitness levels and the environment is super fun and friendly. The instructors provide a wealth of not only kung fu knowledge but are also highly skilled fitness, strength and conditioning coaches. Kung fu has vastly improved my quality of life, having not only physical but mental benefits. You learn cool kung fu and have fun getting fit!

I have been a member of Head Academy Kung Fu since November 2007. It has formed the backbone of my physical and mental fitness over the intervening years.
The physical training aspects of Head Academy should not be underrated. Nathan and team take a holistic approach to exercise. Whether that is traditional form training, pad work, sparring or modern self-defense aspects of Kung Fu. The fitness aspects of each class is magnified with the focus on body weight exercise to help strengthen muscles as a compliment to the cardiovascular nature of the traditional forms.

I have studied several martial arts previously and Head Academy place great value in the applying traditional forms to real world scenario's. Every technique taught can be applied in a self-defense situation. There is no kiai masters or water benders to be found here ;-)

Furthermore I attribute my training longevity and ability to recovery from injury and muscle soreness to techniques Nathan and team incorporate into the program at Head Academy. Techniques including stretching flows, foam rollers and importantly the correct way to use them! Along with joint warm ups and injury management are part of a visionary and professional approach to martial Arts.

I have been taking my daughter to the Leichhardt centre for over one year now and have always been so impressed with the team that train her. They are committed, kind and have the patience of saints. I highly recommend this academy for children and adults alike.

What a fabulous school run by an amazing Master who is always smiling and his energy and charisma is passed on to his assistant instructors - who are phenomenal in their own right.
The school is like a family and the instructors work with an individual's ability to assist them to progress on their journey of learning the art of Kung Fu. Can't recommend the school more highly for anybody of any age and fitness levels.
