Hampden Bridge reviews
42Beautiful old stone bridge a short walk or drive from Kangaroo Valley town centre. You can walk across the bridge just be careful to walk to the side and watch for traffic. Incredible the bridge still stands today, Go around to the side on the village side and down underneath to see the steel that has been added to strengthen it.
Kangaroo Valley is a must visit, beautiful friendly people all around and so much to see and do.
One of the most beautiful sandstone bridges I’ve seen. It has a nice viewing area from which you can get a good look at the bridge and the lovely river below. Traffic isn’t too fast over the bridge so it’s somewhat pedestrian friendly too. A great piece of history
I recently visited with my family. If you're planning from Sydney then I would recommend you to take an inland route as you will love the drive. Overall, this bridge is quite unique with its built. Superb for the portraits as there's not much traffic most of the time.
Heritage bridge about 2hr away from Sydney. If you are zooming through the zig-zag beautiful scenic drive through the Kangaroo Valley, This is a sure spot to take rest, relax or strehch your legs, walk by the waters, grab a bite on the road side food cart.before you continue.don't forget to take some quick snaps.
Amazing piece of history, I can only imagine the days when the men worked on this bridge from the transport of materials the Elevation technique of the top stones, to the conversations on their breaks. Really makes you think about the hard work involved way back in 1898.124 years ago, no cars, Aeroplanes, no Cranes, just Horse power.
Today We have it easy with our machines.
I was really surprised how nice the town is and the bridge is a lovely piece of local history to see. The river below it is very pretty with sand banks and high sand stone cliffs. The pioneer village is just the other side if it too and worth a look
A stunning location, beautiful plaques discussing the heritage of the bridge.
There is also a beautiful car park just past the bridge heading toward Nowra, if You park there are beautiful walks just off the car park to enjoy the local scenery, only a short walk back into kangaroo valley too:)
The drive is amazing to the bridge and beyond, but don't go if you're a nervous driver, the bends, declines and inclines and narrowness of the road in places can be harrowing.
This was my 2nd time visiting this place. Wonderful place. If you are looking for a good weekend destinations from Sydney try this one. You will get amazed by the beauty of this place and there is a nearby small town as well where we had our lunch. For more information please check our Facebook and Instagram page @psaswetravel
Really cute location; there is a toilet block and car park on the kangaroo Valley side, with stairs down to the river.
One of my favourite little stop offs, naturally before going into town for lunch at the pub
Great historical site. Never saw it before today. As a lifetime Sydney sider I'm not sure how I could've miss this place when it's only a 2 hour drive.
Beautiful historic bridge which has been well maintained and restored. Iconic spot in the Kangaroo Valley
This bridge was built in nineteenth century. Vehicle can pass in only one direction at a time on this bridge as it is only one lane. This was good that we stopped before the bridge to see the museum and noticed it. We have to stop and see if any vehicle is coming from other side, if not, we are good to go.
There is a river below it and that is so beautiful.
Looks cool, might fall down any minute, might not, who knows. Nice kayaking place nearby though.
Bridge is nice to visit, currently undergoing some maintenance at the moment. If you want to go somewhere for view check out Cambewarra lookout. Also a good spot up there for a bite and a coffee.
Loved our brief stop at Hampden Bridge. 120+ years old, but still going strong. Unique structure. Have a look underneath from the view point on the northwest corner, which also explains its construction.
A very old bridge that has room for 1 car at a time. A great landmark for people passing through
I came through about 4am on a 24 hour photography road trip and it was covered in mist.fog.the first two are near the south side if the bridge and last one is the creek flowing under it.
The pedestrian path for the bridge is currently under construction as of the writing of this review, but the lookout provides a nice vista of it spanning the gap of the river below.
Note that it is only one-lane, so you will have to do some negotiating with other vehicles across the bridge.
