I missed their call but called them back and went to message bank. I left a message for them to call me but nothing. Very disappointed

"We're very sorry to hear that you've had an unpleasant experience. We value all feedback from our customers. " They will just copy and paste their response because you aren't paying them to write reviews. They only care about your money, use own staff accounts for reviews. We build a granny flat with them very recently in 2020 and so many difficult problems and delays, so I urge you not to proceed with them. If you go with them, get a lawyer, go to fair trading, they helped a lot.

It's always suspicious when a business has reviews of only 1 star and 5 star. I believe the business owner and his own staff have made their own false reviews as well. They are not to be trusted. Hope this helps anyone approaching them in the future!

Horrible company. Ripped my elderly parents off $7k. Was supposed to take 6 months from start to finish. 8 months later still no council approval and no reply to update request emails for months. We complained, and asked for the floor plans to explore other options (it was a custom design). They said no and closed our account and they refused to continue with council approval and build, keeping my parents $7k with no explanation nor apology. Even after fair trading they still refused, we have been advised by fair trading to proceed through civil court. We would never recommend this company in a million years. Save yourself the drama and $$ and go elsewhere.

Definitely wouldn’t recommend this company. Trust these one star reviews, don’t just bypass them. It’ll save you a lot of time and money. I’ll list the negatives in dot point form otherwise this review will be extremely long:
- ruined my families backyard with excavation. Left mounds of dirt, holes and did not offer to fix. We fixed this at an extra cost on our own.
- left McDonald’s, kebabs and more takeaway shop rubbish in our backyard along with nails, screws and bolts. (They knew we had a dog)
- cut up concrete in our backyard and left a hole in it. Filled it with tiny rocks.
- did not secure water tank during build, it blew across our backyard on a windy day almost harming my daughter.
- put outside lights in the wrong position on the grannyflat
- tiler put a few incorrect coloured tiles in our bathroom
- kitchen shelving not level
- shower screen has leaks all around it
- a lot of cracks in the plastering
- staples under carpet edges sticking up
- took 6 months to receive Occupation cert and needed to pay extra last minute for another surveyor to inspect (this was not in original contract)

There is probably more but this is all I could think of at the top of my head lol. Don’t go with them, you won’t regret it.

If you are planning on using this company for any type of construction work, DON'T. They are the worst. They also go under the name HP Building Group (HPGF).
We approached HP Building Group (HPGF) to build a granny flat at our property. After signing an initial design contract it took HPGF 8 months to produce an initial building contract and then another 6 weeks to give us the final version. It was supposed to take 26 weeks to complete the build. 10 weeks later they had only laid the slab! During the course of the build the site was completely mismanaged, the site manager was mostly absent, tradies would show up with no clue as to what they were supposed to do, it was a complete mess.
78 weeks later HPGF finally completed the build and we received the Practical Completion notice. Remember it was supposed to take 26 weeks to complete. And the site was left in a complete mess, rubbish everywhere which we had to repeatedly contact HPGF to remove.
We inspected the building and there were a number of defects that needed to be rectified. We advised HPGF about the defects, HPGF refused to fix any issues without final payment. I withheld payment until finally (85 days after I reported the defects) HPGF fixed one of the major issues (tiling in the bathroom was uneven resulting in water not draining properly), but others still remained. During this period we checked the engineering plans for the site and noticed that drop-edge beams should have been built on 3 sides of the slab. The engineering plan stated that piering should be done after soil classification however no geotech report was commissioned for the site by HPGF or their engineers. We advised HPGF's project managers but they just refused to accept there was any problem with the slab/foundations. At this point I was left no choice but to lodge a complaint with the department of fair trading.
We hired 3 of our own engineers to perform structural inspections and they all concluded that the building would not remain safe with the current foundations but it wasn't until I got the engineer HPGF had commissioned themselves to come out to the site and check the foundations that HPFG finally decided to rectify the problems with the slab/foundations.
All up it took around 2.5 years to build a small granny flat with HPGF. The amount of stress and frustration this company caused us cannot be put into words.
All I can say is stay away from this company.

Had a granny flat just finished by HPGF and experience was outstanding in every way. Sales, operations, customer service and communication excellent throughout but the best and most important thing was timing of the build. As soon as we switched on the project we agreed to pay immediately which enabled trades to be stacked with virtually no gaps in the build. What we expected would be a 4 month max build for a 2 bedder investor series to completion turned into well under 2 months to hand over. We can get it tennanted quicker which means money in the bank for us. Well done Kara, Simon and HPGF team for an outstanding result. We’ll hope to be using these guys again soon for another build.

Took our dep in Feb2018. Delivered WITHOUT OC nor Final Surveyor's Report in April 2019. Then held on to the Basix Cert unnecessarily. We had to go to their office to claim it, delaying the OC to August 2019! Had to pay yet another surveyor & plumber to complete their work. After charging us $1800 for extra meter, tried to cheat us by connecting our electricity to our main house. Still will not attach the heater light & do the niche in the bathroom after we paid for it. Refused to hand over warranties or their details. Damaged our fence & backyard gate & not fixing. Dug up our front & backyard & just left it. Gave us a build price which is now thousands more, which actually excludes ac/blinds/arial/awning/landscaping. From Management to Staff - all lie & cheat. Ignore requests to fix matters. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS ARROGANT & VERY IRRESPONSIBLE BUILDER. Thankfully Fair Trading is onto them, with so many complaints from their clients & even their own tradies, I won't be surprised if they are shut down forever. Too much stress & grief dealing with them.

I highly recommend half priced granny flats and in particular Dane who was professional and courteous through out my dealings with him. He was not pushy and very helpful in helping me navigate through all the red tape to bring together a custom design for my block that was functional and well priced.
Well done Dane.

I am pleased to recommend HPGF to anyone and hope they will exceed your expectations. Their highly professional, courteous and friendly staff Dane made it feasible for us to build a dream Granny Flat and It is our pleasure choosing them. We had a small block with difficult job, but Dane came up with the ideas by creating a nice design to fit our desires and made it sure to explain all possible options, limitations and legal implications. ‎We are highly satisfied with the way HPGF handled our project plus our queries and concerns. Thank you HPGF

My Husband and I visited Half Priced Granny Flats and met with Dane. He gave us some great information on the rules around building a granny flat. After visiting numerous other companies, we chose to return to HPGF as their price was competitive and the floorplan and facade worked great for us. We decided to build a Granny flat for our Daughter whom we are carers of, to give her some private space. Once approved the build of the granny flat happened quickly and with great quality and care in all aspects. All Contractors who were on site were always punctual, efficient and workmanship was excellent. David, one of the site managers even came out on Saturdays to tidy up and ensure the site was clean. We are extremely happy with the finished product. Our Daughter loves having her own space, for not only privacy but to spend time with her kids too. We would recommend Half Priced Granny Flats to our Family and Friends!

I decided to build a granny flat for my mother in law to live in, so she could live rent free for the rest of her life. We built on my property so she is close to family too. I came across Half Priced Granny Flats online among a few other companies. I spoke with Dane over the phone who invited me to visit the showroom which was a new approach that i hadn't had before. My decision to build with Half Priced Granny Flats was highly based on the great Tender presentation by Dane, as well as the design/layout and price. There were a few extra costs involved at the construction stage, but our approval process was smooth. I was happy with the Colour Selections process with Kara, where she gave us great tips on kitchen and tile choices. Now the Granny Flat is complete we are happy we listened to her suggestions. Our Investor 1 Eco was built in just 6 short weeks, with quality fit offs by the contractors. My Mother in Law is looking forward to moving in to the granny flat over the next few weeks.

We decided to build a granny flat to retire and downsize. We built on the back of our investment property that our daughter lives in, so she can care for us if needed as we get older. We wanted to enjoy an easy life, in a smaller space with family close by. We chose to build with Half Priced Granny Flats after our daughter saw an advertisement, we visited the showroom and were happy with the initial consultation and price. We went through a colour selection process where we were given alot of advice on different colours and materials to choose. We were happy with engaging Half Priced Granny Flats to build our Investor 2 Infiniti with the 9m2 extension. The demolition of our garage and the approval and completion of the sewer encasement happened quickly, leading up to the beginning of the build. We are also happy with the choice of a colorbond roof, as we had no damage in the recent hail storms. All up we are happy with the design, approval and build process taking only 9 months in total. We are currently awaiting our OC, and are looking forward to moving in to our tranquil retreat in the coming weeks.

This company is a scam wouldn't recommend to anyone. The cost for 3 bedrooms grannyflat is over$100000 and to you would think it good enough quality. The cement slab has plastic sticks to it, wall is damaged as air conditions is installed, worst ever kitchen benches/kitchen ever. Come and see their work at my place before considering signing contract with them

These granny flats will cost you double with no satisfaction at the end leaving you with a backyard job at best taking over a year to complete.
Contractors spend 5 minutes and then leave the job site and don't come back for weeks.
Avoid if possible.

PLEASE BEWARE Before you decide to build with these guys, I suggest reading further below. Half priced granny flats is a joke, they say half priced to lure you in and then smack you with a high priced granny flat and BEYOND terrible service. Think twice before building

Half Priced Granny Flats just completed our granny flat. We had to have our approvals go through DA, so it was a bit longer than we first expected it to be. Once construction started we received weekly updates on our progress, which kept our mind at ease. Thank you team, for all your efforts, we are very happy with the end result.

I recommend this company if you’re looking to build a granny flat. Special mention to their Site Supervisor, he was so helpful and informative throughout the entire build. Really happy with how everything turned out.
