Gumnut Patisserie reviews
44I was here about 2-3 years ago and had the lamb and rosemary pie. Last time the pie had a distinct rosemary flavour and you could taste it was lamb too. Something has changed as you can hardly taste the rosemary anymore. It was very disappointing. Another diner sitting next to us said the same thing. He could hardly taste the rosemary either. Did you used to have the rosemary inside and now just a few dried sprinkles on top? I was so looking forward to it. The passionfruit tart though was divine. The other problem was dirty tables. We asked for them to clean our table and my husband pointed out to the young man all of the vacant tables needed cleaning so he came out with his spray and cloth and only cleaned one table instead of cleaning them all while he had his spray.he needs a bit of teaching. All of your staff were very friendly though which is great but I'm sorry, I won't be coming back for a pie.but yes I will return for a tart.
Decent coffee, amazing award winning pastries and desserts, good pies. I still mourn the loss of their steak Diane pie which was astoundingly good. Their humble looking potato pie is surprisingly delicious and worth stopping for alone.
Very disappointed by the quality of the food. Perhaps the worst sausage I’ve ever had from a bakery. Overpriced too. Won’t be coming back.
We loved the dessert, the Vanilla Slice was so delicious. Coffee also was so good, totally recommend!
Excellent potato and chunky beef pies. Next time round I had an excellent chunky steak and mushroom.
Can you really go wrong with some pastries and coffee on a windy day? No.
Visit Gumnut Patisserie Berrima and feel right at home and leave full & happy. Recommend the almond croissants — they’re out of this world! [Not pictured? Was too yummy to exist uneaten for too long! ]
Banoffee tart is always a hit. Strawberry cheesecake is ok. Seating within store and outside
DELICIOUS! I had the potato pie and a banoffee tart. Both were the best of each I’ve ever had. Lots of cream on the banoffee but it was so light and fluffy. The potato pie was also just the right amount of meat and potato, with a beautiful crispy top layer. Great atmosphere sitting outside beneath the mulberry tree. Plenty of parking close by and lovely staff!
I'm disappointed with the Berrima shop, we used to travel down from Sydney quite regularly just for their Lamb & Rosemary pies and very nice cakes, despite the exhorbitant prices. The last 3 or 4 times we have been, the shop has run out of pies and cakes at around midday. This is quite annoying, the sister shop in Bowral is still serving all product at 3pm in the afternoon, but the queues are quite long, which is not surprising given the other mob have packed up by that time. We will be bypassing the Berrima shop in future, which is a shame because the relatively peaceful surroundings of Berrima are more preferred. It's a pity they can't get their act together.
One of the best meat pies I've ever had. Super friendly staff. Amazing when stopping for a quick bite in the Highlands. Will be back. We love it.
My wife and I visited Gumnut Patisserie Berrima on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the coffee wasn't very nice at all, and payed for 2 large cups and only got smalls.
The sausage rolls were OK.
Please try harder with the coffee
On a pie tour of Australia. We tried the beef pie and the steak bacon and cheese. Both had soggy bottoms: (
Went on the Sunday, per my wife’s recommendation. She had previously tried last time she was in Berrima.
Pies remind me of the ones I used to have at my favourite pie store ever (providores in Mosman - it’s closed down now). Simply the best. Had the pulled beef and the chicken.
Their desserts got a try too, I had the chocolate croissant and it was flaky perfection.
Finally I was expecting the coffee to fall short given the hot streak, but was pleasantly surprised. Lady that served was cool and warm. Cracker day, sun out.
Can’t wait to visit Berrima again.
20.02.2022: 5/5 stars. I came very early in thr morning. I gotta say. I loved it. It's so good fresh! We had the Chicken and leek, lamb and rosemary, and roasted vegetables. I loved the vegetables, and my partner loved the chicken. We couldn't agree on what was better.
2021 review: 4/5 stars. I had the potato and beef pie. It's quite standard if I'm being honest. My partner liked it though
Excellent food, amazing staff, cute and quaint location. They sell out of the most popular items pretty quick on busy days so you never quite know what'll be there!
Delicious pies and cakes. The best I've had in the southern highlands. It was nice to sit under the trees and enjoy a meal with friends.
Super friendly staff and excellent meat and mushroom pie. We arrived just before closing so most of the desserts and hot food were sold out - always a good sign of popular good food establishments. Managed to snag a beef and mushroom pie, big chunky pieces of mushroom and meat, really bloody good. Mum loved the Caramel swirl pastry and the tri chocolate mouse was a hit with dad. All round excellent stop at the Gumnut Patisserie
Poor communication regarding shop closure.
I have visited Gumnut patisserie and have always been impressed with their quality. I visited in early Jan 2022 and Gumnut Patisserie did not post on their website that they were temporarily closed nor did they answer their phone. I drove all the way to the Mittagong shop assuming they were operating as usual but to my disappointment the shop was closed, alongside their other shops. Please update your website in future as this was quite an inconvenience!
We bought cakes and slices and some truly spectacular special Christmas products. (Oh my the fruit cake with grace fruit on top could not be more perfect! We bought one for a friend and also a white chocolate rocky road christmas tree for ourselves which we were told would keep at least until Christmas by the helpful staff) I am a Tasmanian by birth and I crave the cakes and slices of my childhood, particularly as during lockdown it has been 2 years since we have been there! I can honestly say the caramel slice and custard tarts, in particular, destroyed the ones from country Tasmania, they was so good. We had to (I mean really had to) stop in Mittagong on our way home to Sydney to buy more. Also, I think it is amazing to note that the finer small cakes we tried not only looked spectacular but also tasted amazing. Berry Mousse and the triple chocolate mousse cake were smooth and not too sweet. Fresh and delightful. Caramel slice, custard tart, Lamington and meringues we loved. We have planned our next day trip back already.
According to the sandwich board they've won all these awards. However everything had been in the pie warmer for a long time when we had lunch here. Pastry was also very greasy. Mum thought the custard tart was a bit ordinary too.
