Growing Friends Plant Sales reviews
4Lovely small nursery with extremely friendly staff. Interesting and some more unusual plants for sale. Had a great chat with one of the older guys about orchids. He was very knowledgeable and gave me some great tips and advise will definitely come back again!
What’s not to love about this place? Unique range of treasures lovingly grown and sold by knowledgeable volunteers.
Within the perfect setting of the Botanic Gardens Sydney is a place to buy, from very friendly and knowledgeable people - volunteers - a wide range of native and exotic plants, many not so readily available elsewhere. At present lovers of Begonia and Salvia will find some uncommonly available plants to purchase. Today I purchased a Begonia listada, noted on web-sites as one of the rarer varieties.
The growth, environment needs and care information provided for the plants on sale is very helpful, and I have had great success with healthy growing of the plants at home; and to the expected size, shape, foliage and flowering.
All the plants here are extremely well cared for and at modest (actually surprisingly low) prices. Nothing not to love about this place; except maybe the limited opening hours - which can sometimes be longer than advertised during special events at the Gardens. One of the special little places of Sydney, and one within a very special big place.
It is only a short walk from the entrance to the Botanic Gardens closest to the NSW Art Gallery. It is adjacent to both the Maiden Theatre - the old National Herbarium building from 1899 - and the Succulent Garden. Even if without the time to enjoy a long visit to the Gardens, after an Art Gallery visit it is definitely worth briefly dropping in here, with a view to taking some new plants home. Very likely you will - very likely more than you anticipated. (Please also visit the Succulent Garden; it is a discrete area, out of the way, never crowded - usually I am alone here - and pretty amazing).
I have been told that from the 29th April 2023, Plant Sales will be open on Sundays even without a special event in the Gardens. At this stage, 10am to 2pm is the anticipated Sunday opening times.
