Griffith Pioneer Park Museum reviews
35So interesting! Actual buildings and an enormous amount of artifacts from the times the area began to be settled. Look through the pics and vids I posted to get a better idea. Highly recommend this museum.
A nice area for a picnic and look into the past of Griffith and the MIA. There are lots of things to look at and do. You can even type up your own telegram! Well worth a visit.
Arrived late in the day and the woman at the desk said if we didn't have enough time and were free the next day, just drop by with our names and we would be allowed in for free. We spent two hours on the first day and another one on the second day at this incredibly fascinating site. Beautifully presented by volunteers and full of marvellous information about the pioneering families and people of the Griffith region. A little more on the indigenous heritage would have been much appreciated but other than that - full marks for a brilliantly brought together collection of relics, buildings and technologies.
This place is looking great. Such a credit to the volunteers. Definitely a place to visit if you are interested in local history.
It is one of the tourist attractions in the town worth exploring upon visit. It gives the feel of life people have led in the past living there. Reflections of irrigation and farming tools, local shops, mecial facilities and local culture can be experienced here. There is a section of the museum which is dedicated to portrayal of Italian migration along with the trade skills that came in.
A well established site which gives a great feeling of a pioneer village. Give yourself a good couple of hours.
So we were on holiday in NSW, our Son who lives in Griffith had to show us this great park. There is so much interesting stuff & antiques to see, so amazing & massive park. A great look into the history of the region, lifestyles, Indigenous History & Cultures. Also the settlement of Non Indigenous & other Ethnic Cultures. Historical buildings, Antique household Belongings, Furnishings & Features. Even a massive collection of Original MATCHBOX VEHICLES of all types, including the original packaging. Encased in glass cabinets, which was an attraction to everyone that was visiting the park, from the youngest to the oldest of any groups or families visiting the Park.
You could take a guided tour thru the park, enjoy a BBQ or Picnic there with family or friends, there was a fully licensed Restaurant open to the Public for lunch or dinner there, that also catered for Functions like birthdays or other special events, but closed when we visited. It was also a training Restaurant thru the TAFE College, for people wanting a career in Hospitality.
We were there for a few hours walking around the Historical Buildings & Farming & Industry Equipment. But as we neared closing time we had to leave, which we still had a lot more that we couldn't see, due to no time. On leaving we were able to purchase Souvenirs & a few drinks form the little shop that was there.
It is a place you could visit as a group or family, but to see & take in all that is at the Park, I would recommend that to go early in the morning & spend the day whole there. You won't be disappointed, especially the Historical Person inside You. Be prepared for walking on dirt lanes & rocky or unlevel surfaces, it is based on top of rocky & dry hills. Aussie Outback dryness.
Had a wondeful morning going back to yester year.what a great venue with the all the town and district history. Well worth the visit.
Our family really enjoyed it, it does take some time looking at everything. The staff seemed really nice and helpful.
Griffith is the town of my birth and teenage years.
I returned to holiday after a long absence in 2015.
The Pioneer Park Museum bought back many memories especially the Post Office where I worked on the Griffith Telephone Exchange before it became automated.
So many of the restored shops of yesteryear on display.
My interest in the Italian Museum (within the complex) was also memorable as my parents were immigrants who settled in Griffith in 1929. Many artefacts on display from every region in Italia.
Prepare to spend at least half a day to visit (longer if you have time) and see how this 'dust bowl' became the thriving City it is today.
Give yourself a good day to see this place. It is large and full of lots of interesting buildings, machinery and memorabilia.
Such a fantastic place for the whole family. So informative and so much to see. A great day out.
Amazing collections. Spent a brilliant couple of hours here wandering around. One of the volunteers showed us around some of the buildings and had an amazing knowledge. Keep up the good work.
Amazing area, run by volunteers, excellently curated and steeped in great true local history of the MIA and the Griffith area.
Massive kudos to all involved.
The ukulele group that was here, was excellent entertainment.
Great customer service, friendly staff. Great attraction, interesting history. Not expensive and totally enjoyed visiting there.
This place was fantastic, could take our dog in. The Italian centre was absolutely amazing. Loved it
Loved that you could go into all the old buildings. Very well set up. Something to interest everyone.
We have just moved to Griffith and wanted to know more about Griffith and it's History, The Pioneer Museum was most informative and gave us a great insight on this area, and how it had grown. We will be back to soak in more history. Thank you for a great day, it was most enjoyable meeting Piper the Kelpie
Just spent 3 hours wandering around this museum. One of the best we have ever been to. So great that these buildings and equipment have been saved. So much amazing history. What a wonderful group of volunteers. Must place to visit.
Wow best museum visited yet. What a wonderful “Step Back in Time” experience. The village that made you feel like you were back in the early 1900’s as we wandered through its dirt streets of stores and cottages was amazing. There is so much history in this museum. We spent a couple of hours enjoying all that was on display from the Italian beginnings, wineries, farms and machinery.
