As someone who is particular about choosing the right barber shop, over the last few years I have tried quite a few places. Originally came across Maria's place through its very positive reviews on Google. After nearly 7 months of regular visits, I'm delighted to say that Maria's shop was indeed a fantastic find.

Each visit to Maria's feels like coming home – a testament to the welcoming atmosphere she creates. But it's not just the ambiance that impresses; the quality of service here is consistently exceptional. From skilled haircuts to attentive customer care, every aspect of my experience has been top-notch.

I cannot recommend Maria's place enough to anyone in search of a barber shop that offers more than just a haircut, but a truly great experience.

I have been visiting Grand Royal Barbers in Darlinghurst for almost a year and always leave really pleased with the cut. Maria offers an excellent cut and is happy to listen to what you would like or make suggestions about what she thinks would work well. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Came in ahead of my wedding. My barber (Spencer) didn’t introduce himself and didn’t offer a drink. Haircut quality was surprisingly average with hair still on the back of my neck but beard trim and shave was really poor (still prickly). Also didn’t style hair before I left. Definitely not a $135 experience

I found Maria and her team 12 months ago when moving back to Sydney. I have never looked back. Maria and her team are the most welcoming, professional and amazing barbers anyone could ask for. Impeccable service, friendly staff and best cut in Sydney.

Before setting foot inside this great establishment i’d dealt with a dry, flaky scalp for 10+ years that even a doctor hadn’t found a good solution for. Maria put me onto a product that in just 3 weeks had almost completely fixed my scalp! I can’t thank her enough. The services provided are also excellent and the vibes are great. I highly recommend!

I've been going here for the past few years, after many an inconsistent haircut elsewhere, I was so happy to find Maria at Grand Royal Darlinghurst. I feel brand new every time I step out of there and wouldn't go anywhere else. Can't recommend highly enough!

You get what you pay for. It's damn good. Only problem I had was that my beer got warm before I got a chance to drink it. Could I maybe suggest a pour of some nice whiskey instead?

Had my hair cut here recently and out of all the barber shops I've been to this trumps them all. The staff were lovely and the haircut was incredible, the best its ever looked. I would highly recommend coming here if you can.

I don’t get all the five stars. I booked with one barber and some other barber who seemed to not be a regular barber cut my hair. It was a slap shod affair, I had to see another barber after to straighten it out. I was charged more than the advertised price with no reason given. I can’t recommend.

Fantastic job of colouring my hair by Stacy. As a middle aged man I wanted less grey, but a subtle not obvious colour change. Stacy did a fantastic job, and I look a good few years younger, well done!

I’ve been coming to Grand Royal Barbers for a number of years mainly because their barbers are just the best. They are friendly, exceptionally skilled and the vibe is always relaxed and calming. I doubt they are the cheapest option but the service is superb.
