Have only recently found these guys but after taking both our cars there, 1 for tyres & the other for tyre rotation & balance I am very impressed with their service & quality of their tyres. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

This is a shortened version of my complaint letter sent to the owner of Goodyear Wallsend. I did not receive a response after the deadline.

My name is Dan and I am a female.

- Background

I purchased a second-hand vehicle through the Facebook Marketplace on January 23,2023. I did a pre-purchase car inspection at Goodyear Wallsend. After the inspection, Marcus told me repeatedly in front of the seller that the vehicle is mechanically good, and I got a good bargain, etc.

-The first attempt to fix the helicopter noise

During April 2023, I experienced some noise from the back of the vehicle while driving. I asked Marcus to find out what caused the noise, and the driver’s belt also needed to be replaced. After I came back, Marcus told me it was the belt that made the noise.
After replacing the serpentine belt and the disc, the noise persisted.

-The second attempt to fix the helicopter noise

I spent time going through YouTube videos to find the exact noise my car made and then showed it to Marcus.
On May 2,2023 (Friday), I arrived at Goodyear Wallsend and showed the video to Marcus.
I told Marcus that if "you drive in 3rd or 4th gear on a flat, straight road, you can clearly hear it. "
I also used my gesture when talking to Marcus. When I mentioned the noise, I gestured with my left hand (I am left-handed), pointing to the back. Marcus asked me if the noise was from the left rear. I said I was not sure, but it was definitely from the back. I then told him "Do not take my word for it; I am not a mechanic". I also told him to check if there were other problems when doing the testing. Then I left.
Marcus then later called me, telling me that it was definitely the rear left wheel bearing that made the noise.
So I agreed to replace the rear-left wheel bearing. However, the helicopter noise still persisted.

-Dispute

I then tried to resolve the issue at the shop. I was deliberately put on hold twice by the staff.
Then they made another attempt to fix the helicopter noise. This time they determined the noise was from the rear-right wheel bearing. Marcus’ explanation was that the rear-left wheel bearing made a louder noise and covered the noise made by the rear-right wheel bearing. They did offer me some discounts to replace the rear-right wheel bearing. I did not take the deal.
I went to another mechanic. It only took 30 minutes for this experienced mechanic to pinpoint the problem. It was the right rear tire with an uneven surface that caused the helicopter sound. I changed all four tires, and the helicopter noise disappeared.

-My allegations

1. Goodyear Wallsend did not take my car problem seriously. I repeatedly told Marcus, face-to-face and over the phone, that it was the helicopter sound that I wanted fixed. After three attempts and a lot of money spent, Marcus and the mechanics still could not identify the problem.
2. Marcus was patronizing toward me. The first time, I said the belt needed to be replaced, and then he said it was the belt making the noise. The second time, I showed him a video about a bad wheel bearing and a bad tire, and I gestured to the rear left, and he told me it was the left rear wheel bearing that caused the noise.
3. If the mechanic did the test drive and found no serious problems, or problems were not related to the helicopter noise, then Marcus should be honest with me, instead of trying to find some problems to fix, on my own dime.
4. The whole interaction during this period was all smiles and promises and full of exaggerations, like one reviewer said, "Greater with smile, ". It is how people treat a person who is unimportant to them that reveals their true character.
5. When I tried to call them on May 8,2023, I was put on hold deliberately.

Marcus is a legend he looks after you start to finish.super reasonable pricing for car servicing and tyres.this place is red hot busy so be patient.

This joint make Jax look like a pack of incompetent Ning nongs. Wish I made the switch years ago. Got a good deal and service was great.

Greater with smile picked up tyre after puncture repaired but it wasn't tyre was flat. 2nd attempt got 2 new tyres asked fie front back rotation but was not done manager not checking work not recommended

My car was having trouble starting, Mark and the team were super friendly and helpful. They were able to fit me in at short notice to assess the vehicle and get it back on the road again. I will definitely be using their services again in the future. Thanks guys!

Needed a tyre repair, tyre was stuffed and needed replacement. They called me, gave some options, found a good price, went and picked up the tyre so they could get it put on quick and get me on my way. Absolutely brilliant customer service, highly recommended.

Rushing between multiple appointments today, of course I’d bust a tyre. I cannot say thank you enough to Marcus and the guys at Goodyear Auto Wallsend who fitted my car with a tyre and sent me on my way to get to my other appointments in time. Amazed at how lovely they were, thank you so much.

On the way to a wedding and we had a flat tyre, these guys were 3km away so we dropped in and told them of our issue. They were awesome and helped us straight away. The best part was they spoke to us by name and made us feel like regulars. These guys are legends and professionals. When you drop in take these guys a coffee. Cheers

Went to Jax Tyres at Edgeworth today they were Rude.
So I went to Goodyear at Wallsend, all I wanted was 2 new tyres and a wheel alignment, they fit me in straight away they went out of their way to help me.
Great service from everyone there. I will be doing all my business there from now on.
Tyres were a great price and the wheel alignment was very competitive price too…

Goodyear autocare at wallsend are highly recommended.
The new tyres I wanted for my car were in stock, fitted promptly and even the rims were cleaned first. After 15000 km the wheel rotation was free and I am very happy with the service.

I went to Marcus at GOODYEAR due to Tyrepower doing damage to my car and he was the best at understanding what had happened and was so willing to help with my car. My car now drives straight and doesn’t rip to the left anymore.
Five Stars isn’t enough to rate Goodyear with the service I received today.

Had the pleasure of being served By Marcus and Kurtis today.the customer service was nothing but quality; was welcomed upon entry. The product knowledge by these 2 and product recommendation was outstanding. Young Kurtis was quick on the tools, and i was on my way a short time later which was perfect convenience for my busy schedule. Totally recommend Goodyear Tyres in Wallsend. Run by an extremely pleasant man named Marcus who goes way beyond the realms of great customer service. Not only great deals on tyres (followed up by great after sales service) but also mechanical checks and repairs at very reasonable prices. You'd be a mug to go anywhere else.

I bought my first car today and as this was my first time i was worried about everything! But thank god i had Marcus and Lachlan by my side to walk me through everything! They helped me so much and really looked after me! Marcus has to one of the best business managers ive ever met always positive and so god damn polite absolute gentlemen….
