Gemelle Ristorante Italiano

I went to Gemelles with my partner for Valentines day 2020 and I've never experienced such appalling service.

When we were seated, we requested to have our unstable table propped up and fixed and our server did not come back.

30 minutes after being seated we still had no water. Our waitress avoided our gaze but served every one around us. We had to physically catch the waitress to finally order water and drinks, but apparently she forgot because she came back 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order drinks. When the drinks came out, they forgot my partners one and we had to wait again.

We had to ask for water twice before one bottle came out (and we were charged for both until I requested a refund at the end of the night)

It was 9: 12 when our food order was finally taken (and we were seated at 8: 30!). We waited so long for food that by the time it came out, we didn't even want to eat anymore. I used to love Gemelles and raved about their food to everyone, but the meals we received that night barely passed as okay.

After our mains, we sat for 20 minutes trying to catch the attention of the service staff as we wanted our desert. Instead, we overhead our waitress tell the others that her section was done and that she was leaving. Thats when we decided to give up and just go home.

At the end of all of this, despite my complaints about the disappointing service, we were automatically charged a service fee/tip.

The manager we spoke to apologised and said that the restaurant and kitchen were swamped. It would have been nice to have had this communicated with us during the dinner, rather than as an excuse at the end.

It's clear that the restaurant was not equipped to deal with the sheer number of people that they booked in that night. I absolutely would not recommend Gemelles for a special occasion dinner.

First time to this long standing restaurant. I was really impressed with both the food and the service. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing, amazing food. Book well in advance as its often full. Can do events and host meetings too.

Excellent Italian restaurant with professional service and good atmosphere. A nice cellar of wines including some good vintages. Food was excellent and made to perfection. I have been going here for years and it never disappoints.

Best Italian restaurant in town, authentic Italian food that will rival anything you could find in italy. I hope it reopens again as it is my favourite restaurant and sydney will be missing the best Italian restaurant if it doesn't. And its service is number one - the staff are friendly attentive and gives a family atmosphere and its got in-house safe parking on top of their excellent service and amazing food. Sorely missed during corvid, hope the owner will reopen

Thier food, customer services and chiefs are amazing i know its a bit expensive but thier food was next level

Proper fine dining. Great food, service, and ambiance. Been here a couple of times and never disappoints. It's not cheap, but you'd be paying more in the city for similar quality.

Wagyu eye fillet (tenderloin) was perfect. The oysters were not the best I feel. Overall, a nice place to dine in.

Worth every penny! First time dining there tonight and it was delicious! Both my dish and my husband's was great! We will definitely go back!

For a restaurant that serves typical Italian food, and very weak in taste, variety, not to mention the long time waiting for the preparation of the dishes.

Went here for my birthday. Staff were exceptional and the whole family raved about the amazing food.

Good location, good service. The chicken we ordered was bit overcooked, hence reduced 1 star. But overall good experience.

For all the anniversary, birthdays and another days of that need celebrating Gemelle is the place for us. We have loved their food since time in memorium.

Such a beautiful place to eat, very family orientated and the food is generous and will leave you full once you leave.

What a disappointment. Put a frozen pizza in your oven and save yourself the trip. If you know good food then DON'T GO.
