My experience wasn't pleasant. Firstly, George asked me for a deposit up front before we even met. This was a mistake on my part as i should of at least met him first and run things by him to get a feel as to whether he could deliver the goods. I won't do this with the next designer. Other architects have met me onsite and offer a preliminary mtg even before a dollar has been asked for.
Second, George asked if we had any idea about the floor plan. We supplied him with one from a home we saw. This was another mistake. I believe, It would be better for your designer to start from scratch. This makes them have to think which is what you pay them for.
Third, my house is a CDC. When George did the initial design, he used some rules from CDC and some from the local LEP. This confused me as i believed you either use the rules and regulations from the CDC or for a DA, the councils guidelines but not from both.
Third, i asked George to stop working on my design but he didn't. When i wrote to George to notify him that he wasn't the person for the job and asked for a refund, when he called me, the first thing out of his mouth was that i was an 'ungrateful pig' Not what i was expecting and not very professional at all

What a pleasure it was to work with such a professional! Not only was George a lovely fellow he was full of helpful tips & hints on how to get the most from the bones of our old house.
What surprised & pleased me was how quick he made it all come together!

"I was very impressed by Georges expertise and knowledge of Council requirements in getting unauthorised building work approved. He put a lot of extra time and his expertise in structioning my plans to ensure I would meet council approval.
