An excellent little cafe. Super busy usually- because it’s so popular.
Our favourite coffee in Terrigal (we like ONA coffee). Excellent food - especially the granola bowl and the biggest banana bread slices - a meal in themselves.
Heaps of very friendly and busy staff who immediately recognised us on our second visit. And good chats with the part owner/barista.
Great location with beach/sea views from the sidewalk tables. Definitely our favourite spot in Terrigal.

Excellent coffee, but the highlight was the ham, cheese and tomato croissant. Great spot on the esplanade.

Saša Šestić will be stoked to know 4 hours from Canberra, the coffee is still just as good. Was pleasantly surprised by how well made the coffee and food was made. Staff are super lovely, definitely a place we'll be coming back to!

I probably ordered the wrong thing. I got the Spicy Spaniard special, but while all individual components were fairly nice, I don't think they went particularly well together. Also surprised by how early this place closes (1.30pm - that's usually when I'd start to think about having lunch!). Perhaps a better breakfast spot than somewhere to go for lunch. And could benefit from having more prominent menus up behind the counter. However, overall the staff were hospitable enough and the views outside were good.

When I’m terrigal, I always go to my favourite place Freestate cafe. It’s the only place I trust to make me my coffee just the way I like it every single time. The staff know me by name (as with all of their regular patrons, and there are many. Everyone just keeps coming back. Not only is the food and coffee amazing, it’s always delivered with a smile and friendly banter. To me it feels like home and everything is ok once I have had my regular morning coffee. What’s really special is how on my birthday, I receive a complimentary coffee. It may not seem like much but it’s the little things that count and it means a lot to me. I love having the coffee card stamped and receiving my free coffee every so often. I’m there so much it doesn’t take long to fill.
Freestate cafe makes the best coffee in town hands down.
If you want a great coffee and an interesting and witty conversation to go with it, then head on down.
You won’t regret it. Perfect location and perfect service.

I can’t do a new review so I’m going to add to this one.
I usually only ever just order coffee, but today I wanted to shout my friend breakfast for her birthday so I was tempted by the specials that are currently on offer.
I think I died and went to carb heaven.
First I ordered the ‘green eggs and ham”. I didn’t take a photo as it looked soo good, I started eating before I remembered to take one.
I’ll have to give a descriptive review.
Firstly, the presentation was exquisite and the amount of food was generous. The eggs were fluffy and the toast was crispy, topped in fresh alfalfa sprouts. Around the outer edge was a beautifully drizzled pesto and butter sauce. As you can imagine, my Frenchie was hypnotised. The taste was as pleasing as the visual presentation. I rarely eat breakfast out but I have to say, this was a conversation starter and stopper.
Secondly for my breakfast/ dessert, I ordered the French toast with bacon, maple syrup, topped with fresh fruit and coconut ice cream. As you can imagine, it was heavenly. The photo tells all.
It was worth the calories 100 percent
My Frenchie loves going to Freestate. Today he gave the ‘paws up’ and enjoyed the maple covered strawberries and banana as much as I did. It felt like I was at an American diner, with the combination of sweet and savoury. Elvis would have been impressed.
Freestate is still my favourite place for coffee and treats, even after 3 years.

My first time visiting this cafe and i was so impressed with the friendly and fast service.i ordered smashed avo and had it vegan with added mushrooms and i wiped the plate clean.literally.my only downfall was not taking a breath and letting my coffee go cold.even tho i drank it cold it was still delicious! Thanks guys i will be back and will definitely recommend to friends <3

By far the best coffee in Terrigal. As Coasties, it's our daily stop on our morning walks. A great community where everyone knows the regular's names and an excellent example of what community is like on the coast. Also, the food is delicious. The paddock plate is our favourite, and make sure you add the brisket (the best brisket we've had in NSW) ; other food is excellent, too, everything served with flavour and flare.

Amazing coffee, outstanding food and customer service. Could not recommend this Cafe highly enough. Right across the road from the beach so it's definitely a great cafe to enjoy breakfast with a view.

A great little local Cafe that really goes beyond in customer service, food and coffee. Paul and Nigel are great hosts and welcome everyone with a smile and a friendly chat. They have a great team that follow the value of consistently making everyone feel welcome@ 'Free state'. A stand out Cafe in Terrigal.

Guys guys guys, shut up! This place is amazing
The coffee is the best in NSW, and it's in this little beach side town, OMG.
The staff are ridiculously friendly, especially Yasmin, who was so accommodating and went out of her way to be friendly and helpful. Engaged with the kids too, which was lovely and really helped them feel settled and calm so we could enjoy breakfast.
I mean, we are here for a wedding, but we'd consider holidaying here just because we know we can get great coffee!

Coffee you just have to go back for how is coffee this freaking good possible. Give em try you won’t look back

Great food, i have a waffles with syrup it came out on time and promptly, great staff very friendly, as well as they have a very nice atmosphere when entering the store to order your food.
