Great location, super friendly and awesome staff, easy and welcoming environment for all types of gym goers no matter age, level or experience. Have had PT sessions with Marcus for almost 2 years now, highly recommend training with Marcus no matter what your goals are. Personally we focus on a mix of strength, hypertrophy and running specific exercises, pending what my training goals and plans are at a specific point in time.

Today was my first day after a long break from Pilates. I started with private classes with Ellie who was amazing.
She has helped me remember the benefits my body gets from movement. I will continue with Ellie until I am ready to join a class. Can’t wait for my next session.

Very, very clean gym who follow COVID procedures consistantly. Lovely staff, modern equipment and light, clean and airy facility. Just perfect!

The only negative feedback is the late night female staff (only one) makes you feel like you need to rush through your workout because she starts packing up the equipment about 10 minutes before closing and tells you to finish soon, why the rush to get you out by 9pm not a minute over?

I’m a 47 year old man with Psoriatic Arthritis and when I first started at this gym 2 or so years ago I was walking with the aid of a walking stick, Katie who is the co-owner and an exercise physiologist took me on as a client since then I have been having a workout session with her once a week & she has seen me through 2 knee replacements with pre & post op prep & rehab. I now walk unaided & if you didn’t know me you would not think I was sick in the first place, I owe her a debt of gratitude. The atmosphere in the gym is very welcoming & unintimidating also the equipment is top notch. All in all a great place to workout especially if your suffering from bad health.

I’ve been a Fitness Local Mortlake member for just on 5 years now and thought it was worth sharing what a great asset to our community it has been. As a senior member of the community this gym and its wonderful staff has provided my wife and me the opportunity and encouragement to improve our health and fitness though the various programs which they run.
The staff have always been friendly and gone out of their way to provide any assistance we have needed to get the most out of our time at the gym.
We have progressed from non-gym people to attending sessions at least four times a week.
The exercise physiologists have been especially helpful in managing the issues which us older members of the community have to deal with.
Last but not least, the convivial atmosphere which exists at Fitness Local Mortlake has resulted in a whole new group of gym junky friend across a broad age band.
The new facility is great and an added bonus.
Thanks Katie, Peter and all the staff.

A big thank you to Katie and Peter and their team!
I’ve joined several other gyms over the years, and never lasted more than a few weeks because they weren’t encouraging or helpful to newcomers. Fitness Local at Mortlake has been fantastic for a formerly gym-shy older person - I’ve been a member for several years now and go 3-4 times a week. The staff is wonderful; there’s always someone available to give advice about using the equipment. It’s a friendly place that cares about its members and provides a great atmosphere for developing and maintaining fitness.

Sadly very disappointed with the service here. Have been waiting for the reopening of the gym since the rebuild with lots of anticipation. Enquired via email and I was booked in for a tour very promptly with my partner. When we arrived for our appointment the staff member seemed rather flustered and gave us a quick tour. I enquired as to why there was a young girl in her school uniform hanging off the squat rack bar. Working in this industry myself you am aware that children under 14 should not be in a gym. It was pointed out that it was the owners daughter who proceeded to stare daggers at us for even pointing it out. Ok we ignore that. Carry on with the tour and signed up for a 14 day trial. Each time I would come and sign in at the desk manoeuvring my way past staff lounging and chatting on the customer side of the desk. Only twice was I actually acknowledged when I walked into the gym by staff. Used the gym a few times and it becomes apparently that the layout of the weights section is just too crowded. I appreciate that it’s all brand new equipment but I think they have put way too much into a small area when the limited space could have been used more wisely. If someone’s in the squat rack that takes out one bench space leaving essentially only 2. That is if the trainers don’t use a bench to store their clipboard and phone while training a client somewhere else. So if there’s 3 people by the mirror then the area is full. Sadly on top of that the prices are way too high for the size of the gym @$19/wk for no contract for a few bucks more I can have a fitness first platinum membership and for a few bucks less I can have a 24hr gym membership at a gym of equal size but smarter layout.and the funny thing is their lockers. The staff member had to explain it and we found out most of them are already broken. I am still to receive a follow up call or email to see how I went and to see if I wanted to join up. I guess maybe they don’t value their prospects enough to follow up. Guess I won’t be joining ‍️

Went into the gym for a tour, staff member who toured myself and my partner very flustered, couldn’t really tell us much about anything.
It took us multiple questions to even get basic answers out of the staff member:

What’s this?
Oh that’s the outside area
Can we see it?
Sure
. Pause.
Can we see it now?
Oh, sure
We eventually walk out there

Another thing that’s as very frustrating was when we were toured a young girl in school uniform was swinging off the squat rack bar, running around the gym with a skipping rope, and climbing over different machines. I asked why there was a child in the gym and the staff member responded embarrassed that it was the owners daughter.

As for price, $19. Week and a joining fee approx $100. Extremely overpriced for a gym of such a small size, especially when there’s a Plus fitness close by and two fitness firsts that have comparative rates and much larger facilities.

As for training there, very small space and odd layout for equipment. Squat rack is the only decently
Placed piece of equipment. Smith machine crammed into a corner, free weight benches take up workout area which means you can’t really use free weights or kettlebells unless you go outside.

After my trial received no follow up call to discuss possibly signing up or even negotiating rates.

Very unfortunate experience

Support your local club! Fitness Local is not decked out with the most modernised equipment but it's enough to get the job done however the staff are friendly and so are the nembers who go there.

Excellent gym, however it is a little expensive and their is no A/C so it is extremely hot in summer
