Fitness First Menai

They follow the rules, even preventing me from training because my 12yo could not sit in the waiting area and use his laptop, unless accompanied. As a point of interest, a 12 yo can legally babysit a toddler but can't be trusted to not walk onto the gym floor.

If you have a minor with you, forget about empathy. You certainly can guarantee that the words 'those are the terms and conditions' will be repeated quite a lot. No other context will be provided.

Ironically, my son could sit on the floor or on a chair outside the door. Understandable, for insurance purposes that children are not permitted inside the gym, but the waiting area at reception carries less risk than any restaurant or mall.

New barbells and weights! Equipment is clean and mint! Only missing a proper Olympic platform

The equipment is really good and the gym has a lot of space. Only problem is there are 1000 teenagers after school and you can never get a bench

Spacious, clean, plenty of equipment. Train during off peak hours, so not sure how busy it gets.

Worst customer service ever! Trying to cancel my membership since early March. Talked to Jason in person twice (I had to come on 2 different days!) who that time confirmed it would definitely be canceled within a week. Last week talked to Marcus who apologised and also said it would surely be canceled asap and all my overpaid membership fees will be refunded. I mentioned that I had changed my debit card and therefore gave him my new card details for the refund to be processed, however, I just found out that I was charged once again but from the new card. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. I would never ever go with Fitness First again just for the sake of not having difficulties to cancel my membership.

The gym is okay mainly my 5 star review was for the personal trainer “Jai”. He honestly taught me so much throughout our session and my progress has fully changed me as a person both physically and mentally. 100% would recommend you book a session with him.

I've been training at fitness first Menai for 2 years, I've recently started training with Jai (PT). Jai is fantastic to work with, really receptive and has helped me actually achieve my goals. I'd highly recommend Jai to anyone looking to improve strength or lose weight.

I found my personal trainer Jai to be extremely patient and focused. I have seen results in a matter of weeks thanks to his nutrition planning and workout schedule

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and members. Very clean and I love going, working out. However, they need a decline bench.

One of the best gyms I've been to, great staff, excellent trainers, awesome group fitness instructors, a warm, family friendly enviroment, well maintained and naturally well lit. It makes working out a whole lot more enjoyable.

Been a long time member over 20 years and have been in a lot of fitness firsts, Menai has really dropped the ball. Machines constantly broken, urinal has been broken for a long time now, Staff rarely say Hi, rarely someone on the counter, Management are a massive let down, was told I couldn't help my mate out because I work as a PT outside of the gym even after I'd explained myself.
Will be looking into other gyms around the area as soon as I can.

This club has everything you'd expect from the brand, has multiple sets of equipment so you never really wait, and this one in particular i find is never too full. The staff are friendly and dont bother you unless you go seeking their help which i love. I dont normally bother leaving reviews for larger known franchises or brands, but fitness first has really stepped up its game. The brand itself developed the fitness app which allows access to videos to use either at the gym or at home and I love that. The only way it'd be better is if it had a sauna.all my stars for a sauna.

My first year with Fitness First Menai has been great. All the trainers and staff are super nice and take an interest in you no matter what fitness level you are at. I like how they have given me tips and tricks on my form during workouts so I can benefit the most from my exercises. They have an astounding, clean and comfortable facility filled with high-end equipment and a positive environment (Everyone seems really happy to be there). From their strong service to their friendly staff and management, Fitness First Menai is an incredible gym for everyone, from beginners taking their first steps into a gym to professional athletes & competitors to train at.

Apparently being a Platinum member at fitness first doesn’t mean you can train at the nearest gym at 2: 30pm on a Sunday. Absolute joke, wouldn’t recommend fitness first and especially the Menai Gym to anyone.

Be AWARE of fitness first menai contracts. They have continuously done me wrong since I signed their contract with my brother, I told them I wasn't going to be around for more than 3 months in the area and the young staff signed me and my brother to an 18 month contract that I've been battling to pay ever since I lost work (over a year now) and had to move away from Sydney. This contract is only for menai and gives no access to any other store in Australia. When I moved I continuously called to put my account on hold and they assured me it was put on hold but then a week later, they would charge me the rest of my money. 6 different times this resulted in an overcharge in my account- leading to me having to cancel going to Sydney altogether.due to having to wait up to 3-5 business days to get the money back. They are absolutely hopeless at menai fitness first and I can garentee you they are only in it for the money. Get your own set of dumbbells and stop feeding the scammers more money. Its very sad to see a successful, rich, business that's been thriving more than others, do this to its essential customers and people who genuinely wanted to better their lives but got locked down. Oh and recently sent them the details they asked for to cancel both accounts and I still got charged full amount only 2 weeks after this, its sad to see.

This gym has been recently upgraded and has far better equipment than previously. The gym is quite spacious and even in peak hours is able to handle the amount of people very well. The squat racks are in a bad location, however, as no mirrors are available to ensure you have the correct posture.

Been training for years and as a result been to countless Fitness First. Went to this one once - never again. Not even a basic 24 hour gym. It’s not 1999, you can now remain open at all times (cheapskates do not want to pay out the extra insurance that will be required for a 24 hour gym).

Limited hammer strength type machines. Not even a bicep pin loader or a basic pec dec (the most effective basic pec workout)
Machines are just scattered around - you need a map to find a pin loader you want. Benches are too hard

Other fitness first have pools / saunas etc. This is by far the worse Fitness First I’ve trained at. I’ve trained at carlingford, Rockdale, Sylvania etc. Avoid at all costs, Menai has lots of gyms and they are 24 hours

Great vibe.friendly staff and trainers. Plenty to do - classes equipment etc. Lots of parking nearby as well.

I would NOT recommend joining Menai Fitness first. They are continuing to take large amounts of money out of my account for no reason! Staff have not been helpful and extremely rude when I have asked for an explanation as to why. I will Not be coming back. Lost a lot of money for a gym I have not been able to attend due to Covid. Do yourself a favour and join else where!
