I have multiple fractures on my body and I can't workout, one week after my injury I went there to freeze my membership and dropped a medical certificate but they are still charging me, my chiropractic has sent a second medical certificate a couple weeks ago and they are still charging me. When I call them the manager is never available and although three different front desk staff got my details the manager never call me back. They can't even find the first medical certificate that I dropped there, so they don't scan it to document?
I have been working out in Fitness First around Australia (NSW, VIC, WA- when there was fitness first in WA). THIS IS THE WORST CLUB.

The facilities are not bad. When signing up however, I didn't realise they had so few 24 hrs clubs. Then there's their "18 month" lock-in clause, which is highly unreasonable! I feel like I am being held hostage (for the past 6 months), as they won't allow me to cancel!

Seriously, who reads Gym membership fine print anyway? Well from now on, I guarantee that I most certainly Will! Had I done so. That is, read their cancellation clause 3 in its entirety, I can honestly say that I would have never signed: "in connaissance de cause". Too late now! That is why I am writing this lengthy review of my true customer experience. Wherein, I am merely stating the facts!

Firstly, how was I supposed to know that the freeze period in clause 2.6 stipulating: "Any time freezes are not classified as a full payment toward your contract" even existed? Meaning, that one is unable to get sick, move, go on holidays, etc, because any freeze period (s) during the term of membership will not be contractually discounted from the length of term. Honestly, I feel this is misleading conduct on their behalf, as all variations of cancellation should be "straight-forward" and under the same clause 3 - not all over the place!

Secondly, I feel the contract offer is unclear. Given the circumstances, my acceptance of the same is not conscious. Furthermore, I personally feel that I was not made aware of the T&Cs pertaining to this interminable 18 month lock-in period! So I put it to you: if their services and/or facilities were good? Why then would they have to resort to this type of practices.

Thirdly, they're however insisting on an 18 month consideration. In short and according to them, I have no choice but to pay - so I have no choice but to keep on training there against my will. As I will have to keep on paying anyway.

Moral of the story, I feel cheated, and held hostage. I note that their staff has not been helpful, or interested in helping me find a fair outcome. One may conclude from this poor customer service and conduct, that front-line staff is trained (or instructed?) to "brush-off" clients like me who simply wish to cancel their membership?

Whatever their reasons? I simply know that I don't want to wait until this unfair contract expires because I am overwhelmed by this severe sentiment of unfairness which won't go away - depriving me of any motivation whatsoever of training in any of their establishments. As such, let it be known that I am looking forward to never having to set foot in one of their clubs again!

I have been a member here for a little while now. The customer service is always friendly, warm and very welcoming. Shout out to staff members Adam and Kyle for always having a laugh when you’ve been having a bad day. Although the gym does get a little busy it does add to the atmosphere! Could use an upgrade soon!

The male staff at the counter was so rude. He pushed so hard to force us join the membership. Even after we said no, its ridicules, of course I won't sign 18 months commitment for my last semester in sydney. He said it cost only 50 bucks to cancel it. Does fitness first make their staff so rich to say that? I feel disappointed about fitness first, it just ruined the whole day. It is very rude to ask people less eating out for ur commission. Find someone better to promote your sales fitness first.

I have been member just over a year now.
The number of members has drastically increased but this branch hasn't been keeping up with the changes.
1. Several equipment are constantly out of order and repairs take several weeks if not months to be addressed.
2. Half of the benches are crooked (wobbly, angle adjustments don't work)
3. This gym does not have basic machines like leg adductor and abductor; decline bench press;
4. It does not have enough squat racks (only 3) ; it does not have enough weights (always chasing them around) ; not to mention they are all from different manufacturers.
5. The gym lay out is very strange and not functional at all (for such a big area a much better job could've been done.
6. Bathrooms, specially toilets broken and dirty; no paper towels in the bathroom and hand dryer constantly out of order.

The only reason I still keep training there is because the area does not have any competitor. Once there is, I'll switch gyms.

Terrible Customer Service. If I could give this place a 0 star I would. I was served by Kyle and Adam when I made an enquiry for joining. Adam went through the prices with me and I told him that I would have a think about it and as I left he said 'thanks for wasting my time' and Kyle smirked behind the counter. I have never felt so disrespected from a sales member before. You guys need to be more respectful towards guests even if they do 'waste [your] time', especially to the short guy Adam i think his name was.

I was thinking about joining the membership so I went there and one of the staffs asked me to leave my name and phone number. Then I got a call from them today and it is so rude. I was studying at the library and I told them I am busy at the moment. He asked me what was I doing right and why cannot I come today (multiple times after I told him I was busy today). So rude. I was thinking to join after exams but now I might find another gym.

Friendly staff; however, I've noticed many people use the equipment without a towel, and some go to the steam room with shoes and socks! Why the gym does not have any procedure in place to assure hygiene is the priority?

Awesome Gym. Great choice of classes which comes with the membership. Amelia is the best Zumba instructor you could ever get. Wish Amelia does the Saturday morning Zumba class as well.

Friendly gym in a large space with everything you need if you know what you're doing.

The crowd that trains there seems to be friendly and warm.

Shout out to staff member Adam who is friendly, engaging and always makes you feel welcome. Anyone complaining about the facilities has probably never trained at some of the tiny 24 hour gyms.

1 or 2 more squat racks and a deadlift platform would make the place perfect. Ive given it 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reasons:

(a) Weekend opening hours need to change. 9am-6pm on a Sunday isnt that great for those who like to train early.
(b) There is one staff member who seems to just walk around policing towel usage and people deadlifting but unfortunately the place has no deadlift platform. She is not exactly polite when doing so and gives off a negative vibe.

All in all though, good gym with everything you need.

Awesome customer service in all aspects. I have been an existing member across many gyms in the area, and the facilities and service at this one is next to none! The personal trainers are always engaged, and always do their best to ensure members are focused as well! Could use some new cardio equipment, however, the existing ones do the job.

Two stars because the plates are all mixed - very difficult and annoying to find matching plates to do bench/deadlifts/squats etc no bumper plates either to do proper deadlifts. Have mentioned this to staff consistently over the past year.

Chatswood fitness first so much better in this regard

Good gym if you want to do Zumba classes tho
