I highly recommend First National Newtown. We have been renting from them for 8 years now and never had an issue. The team are very professional and honest, which is something that is hard to find in this industry.

We are very happy with the service provided by the team of First National Real Estate Newtown. We have now sold 2 properties using Julia Fanos as our agent and it has been with ease and professionalism.

She guided us through the process of selling, was very honest throughout the entire campaign and constantly communicated any updates. It is clear that Julia is an over-achiever and worked endlessly to achieve the highest and best price for both our properties, exceeding far beyond our expectations.

Prior to selling, we had Andrew managing these properties as rentals for over 10 years. He too worked hard in getting the highest market value in rent and constantly kept us informed about any issues.

We felt as though they had our best interests at heart and we appreciate their honesty and efficiency, throughout both the rental and selling process. We have no hesitation in recommending them to landlords and sellers.

AVOID AT ALL COST - they are the reason we left the apartment.

From the start, there was always lack of communication and whenever we brought up any slight concerns or questions, we wouldn't hear back from our agent. Often we had to call them just to make sure they read our email. And when we did have an issue, they did as little as possible. For example, we had a reoccurring mould issue in the apartment and they took no responsibility and were going to CHARGE US just to get someone to look at it.

They are rude - on the phone we have been cut off and talked over many times. For example, when we left, I was yelled out for not returning the keys to the office and threaten to pay additional rent because whoever answered the phone had no idea we were leaving. As soon as i had the opportunity to speak, i explained that we left the keys in the apartment as requested by my direct agent. So obviously they do not communicate amongst themselves within the office.

Icing on the cake - when we did finally leave, they were going to charge us for a small chip on the kitchen bench, which we claim was already there. First National said that the landlord requested that they take the payment from our bond money. After speaking to legal aid, we were advised that bond money belongs to tenants and the agent nor the landlord can simply 'take it' without an agreement. Therefore they lied to us to pressured us to pay for damage even when they could not prove it was caused by us.

They were also going to charge us an additional cost for an end of lease clean. To get out of there quickly, we agreed to use their cleaners so we could just leave. I was then called up the next day, and received an "off-the-record" offer from one of the ladies in the office who suggested she go and clean the apartment for $100 which we could pay in cash. She specifically said not to tell anyone else in the office. Anything for a quick buck!

Funnily enough, after speaking to legal aid, we no longer heard from First National - they just stopped calling us or replying to emails and we received our full bond back.

As a small family business, they don't have much structure and processes within the agency, and just look out for each other and have minimal care for tenants.

As a tenant, avoid where you can, and as a property owner do not put your trust in this agency.

We've found Stamo and the team to be very flexible, accommodating, and communicative when it comes to our renting experience. They always make themselves available and get back to us promptly when we have any questions or enquiries. Thanks Stamo and FN crew!

Terrible Real Estate-
lazy, unprofessional, unorganised and typically will not do as they say unless it is writing. Go somewhere else renters and land lords give the work to a different real estate, these guys do not deserve the business, what a shame as Newtown is a great area.

We rented through First National Newtown for just over 6 years and found the experience with them as nothing short of exemplary. Any maintenance requests were dealt with swiftly and inspections were kept to a minimum with plenty of notice. Would recommend if you’re in the rental market for an agent who is readily available for your every need.

Lived in my apartment managed by Stamo at First National for 4 years. She was very empathetic and respectful for any issues I had while living there. Some disagreements but primarily a professional service

I was inquiry about a property was rudely spoken to by Stamo Katsidis. I called her number from a property listing. Unprofessional and if that is how they deal with inquiries, I wouldn't want to deal with them whilst renting a property from them.

The fact that I went into an effort to write a review based on an inquiry i made, shows how unprofessional the state of the call was, especially when I had just made several other calls to other real estate agents who were professional and willing to answer my two questions- do they allow pets and does i have a balcony.

Lets hope your other employees speak to potential renters in a more professional and respectful manner.

This agency is operate by a Greek family with all agents, manager and director being the husband, wife and sisters. They’re wicked, deceitful. I was misled to lease a shop owned by their mother and the nightmare had begun. For 2yrs, I constantly got bullied, and undermined, and finally I had to gave up my shop and they reaped the fit out and fixtures I spent on the shop.

The first reviewer was wise to leave immediately and saved himself. The other reviewer gave a fair review. However, even you document everything, they can find ways to take advantage of you. According to the guy, he was bought up in the area of Newtown and has 30+yrs experience working as Real Estate agent. There is a lot behind that and what they can do….
