Famous Rock Shop reviews
23So impressed by the service on my last visit, they didnt close the doors on me when I arrived a few minutes after close, this type of service accompanied by the great range of products makes The Rock Shop an excellent local retailer. Theres something for everyone.
Cramped af, hard to navigate, good luck getting more than 3 people through and isle.
Creepy staff, always watch you and think you want to steal something. Say they 'buy and sell' vinyls and CD's but don't really sell them as much as they buy them, which is evident by the huge amount of completely unorganized music stock in boxes and on the floor.
The shirts look like they are all printed by them, I don't think any are official (which is probably illegal but I don't know). Despite this, somehow the prices for shirts are still really high. The majority are about $50. My friends and I have this game where we go in and find some shirts then look them up online and see how much cheaper they are.
Overall, in my opinion, extremely dodgey. Would not shop there if I didn't have to.
I came here in October last year to buy a RSD remastered EP of The Beatles' "Long Tall Sally", originally released in 1964, and I really enjoy playing it on my turntable. I also bought The Rolling Stones' "5x5" EP as well and it too was a vinyl reissue, not an original.
I hope to come back here again in the future.
Our whole family love the rock shop, you can lose hours just browsing & their record collection is massive!
Staff are always so extremely helpful. It's heartwarming to see a locally owned shop that is still so loved by so many for decades.
Have to say that I was extremely disappointed with my visit here! As others have said, the staff here really make you feel as though you are a potential criminal.the most sad thing was the prices here for new and used vinyl.ridiculously over priced. The cheapest 2nd hand vinyl was $25. Most of the used releases were around the $40 - $70. I'm guessing this is why they have so much vinyl because no one is willing to pay 1000% mark up on used records. I was so excited before i went in and left totally deflated. So sad as I had come all the way from Sydney with the intent to buy 20 or 30 records and left empty handed.no excuse for prices this high: (
Plenty of stuff to browse here, a good selection of boots & sportswear, but the customer service here could be much better, & the prices are quite steep.
Always helpful and has plenty of stock. Sent my mother there for joggers and she felt the same and had a great experience. Will be back again.
Quite a good selection of items but also quite expensive IMO. Shoes often only available in odd sizes. Not the shops fault but parking is getting harder that part of Hunter st since the light rail. Still it may have what you're looking for but my suggestion would be to call ahead first.
Amazing selection of top brand boots and shoes eg: Converse, Vans, Doc Martin. Very helpful staff.
Its jam packed with the taboo and dark-trendy labeled get-up. You'll need 1hr to briefly look at the stock
Great place to get big size shoe's that you can't get in footlocker, rebel etc for big boys. Size 16 and down
Great store! Thanks so much for your help today:) the lady was so friendly! I hope you have a great day
Been buying from here for years, good stock nice variety and cool stuff you can’t find anywhere else, I don’t like being stalked around the shop like a criminal, watching me like I’m stealing, awkward vibe from staff, like they always want me to leave, I don’t get it I’ve shopped here for ages. A little over priced but what do you do
Cramped yes and a messy layout, but you can spend hours here looking around.street style, street wear at its finest.top brands everywhere you look.caps shoes (lots from doc Martin to Adidas) shirts tees jewellery you name it.all there.that's just the bottom level, go upstairs and it's a music haven.should I say heaven.this shop is one of a kind and you will buy something here I'm sure.better when not in the busiest hours as it's packed and has small Isles.
Famous rock shop, always has been a great shop, with great staff, One could spend a couple of months straight in there checking out all the best and coolest stuff on earth
I love the shop
Unsafe and cramped store layout and I had to squeeze the middle section to find someone to help me with purchases. Terrible staff rude, unhelpful and I didn't feel welcome in the store. I found some items didn't have prices on them and some were dirty especially the body jewelry.
Quality 2nd hand CDs thousnd to choose from.even more records. Ask Mario at the back of shop for what u r after and he has awsome knowledge of what they hold plus the history of the rock bands and albums.could while away hours browsing what this packed little gem has!
Greatest, range, service and pricing, Can't ask for more than that, but there is parking as well!
Overall experience makes customers very uncomfortable. The shop floor is cluttered and hazardous to navigate, the staff constantly follow and glare at you without offering service.
Tons of stuff, easy to spend ages here. Annoying that the CDs aren't priced - girl staffer confirmed you have to ask for each price. More annoying was the guy I assumed was the owner watching me as I browsed. Made me uncomfortable.
