Experiment Farm Cottage reviews
8 An interesting property that once contained the first successful farm run by convict James Ruse and explains the history of the current house that stands on the grounds. The house is only open on the first and third Friday and Saturday of each month.
Staff take you around and explain the history of the land and the property. It takes about an hour to do the full tour. Staff are polite and informative.
There is a wheelchair accessible entrance at the rear of the cottage. There is no accessibility to the cellar. Assistance animals are allowed.
The place is small, so I would recommend prebuying tickets to ensure entry during peak holiday times. However, I went during the off-season, and there were only two of us there.
A wonderful view in to the past, looked after by an dedicated team of people.
It’s an easy tour, guided by knowledgeable people.
I went there on Sunday, but I don't think they are doing any tours right now. Until recently, there was evidence that it was put inside, but it was put away and could not be entered. The business hours sign has also been removed.
An interesting historic house though not much emphasis is placed on the owners. The furniture is from that period and nice but the building itself is the main attraction.
Great place to visit, such a significant site. The tour guide was absolutely wonderful and made it a thoroughly enjoyable and educational experience
Haven't been to the farm cottage museum which is open Saturday and Sunday but the slopy park beside is a perfect little spot for sun bathing.
Very interesting place and guide was really knowledgeable. Good reminder of the beginnings of Parramatta
One of the most important historic sites in Australia, the site of the first farm and a fascinating cultural museum as well.
