Elizabeth Bay House reviews
48I was here just last night for my birthday week and I enjoyed the game so much! Everyone played their character so well and with so much charisma and energy. It was fun trying to solve the mystery being guided around the house and asking questions. Definitely an experience I would like to share with others
Historic grandiose mansion maintained in pristine condition for today’s tourists. Step back in time when you do the tour and see how the other half lived in luxury and isolation in the wilderness before the entire peninsula was carved up into modern high density urban sprawl. The ultimate intimate wedding reception venue with harbour views and clout.
Beautiful place, lots of history and amazing views. The staff is very friendly and they know a lot about the place!
Nice place to visit with the family especially if you have travelled to sydney and like The history
The staff were friendly. The were extremely helpful. They had an answer for every quetion I had. They are all very knowledgeable.
Beautiful historic house. Lovely place to visit with beautiful views, charming old architecture and furnishings.
Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, very willing to answer questions.
Good value for the very reasonable entry fee. I spent over two hours here, wandering through, reading the interesting historical information and talking to the staff.
I had the most fantastic and informative tour from enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff.
Thank you for the gift of a morning we shared.
I hope to return to the House for some of their events.
Enjoyed being able to wander on a self-guided tour. The employees are lovely and very knowledgable.
I love these hidden gems of history in the city.
I highly recommend taking a guided tour through the property. Not only do you get a wonderful history but you may be fortunate to get some behind the scenes access (like the attic) and see how some clever things work (like the blinds/shutters folding away and the toilet in the master bedroom).
If you sign up for a Sydney Living Museums you get unlimited access for a year to this and other museums around Sydney.
A very informative tour, and a beautiful narration to colonial Australia. A must go for Sidney residents and visitors alike.
Amazing place! Vintage decorated and furnished, it's a hidden gem of the colonial architecture! I will never be able to thank enough miss K.who shared with me the secrets of the house.
Wonderful house. The people that work there are so helpful and are very knowledgeable. Thank you Sarah for a great afternoon at the house today.
Please follow the guide tour. The staff would help you know more about the amazing history behind the house. View from window is so amazing I love it so much.
Elizabeth Bay House is not only a beautiful venue and a wonderful insight into Sydney's early history but also an amazing venue for a function or wedding ceremony. We were luck to hold our ceremony there in April 2019 and couldn't have been happier with the service from the function co-ordinators and onsite staff. Our guests were delighted by the elegant interiors and atmosphere and it made for a perfect day. Thank you EBH!
This was an amazing experience as all the rooms are restored to the original looks and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Defiantly would recommend.
This is a well maintained property with stunning views of the harbour. It's incredible how talented people were in days gone by because it was so cool in the the house without fans or the ac yet boiling outside. Elizabeth Bay House is located in Elizabeth Bay and was one of the largest houses at one time. The only house at the time to have an oval atrium and a staircase without support. Rooms are maintained as they were more than a 100 years ago. It was fascinating to see how the rich lived, the furniture they had, the toys they played with or how they looked after their servants. Around 500 metres down the road is a seat with an overhang carved into the hill where the lady of the house would go and sit to read or knit when it was hot (that was in the middle of lush gardens all those years ago.now amidst buildings but still there!)
Interesting historic point. The tour guide Howard was fabulous and fulfilled us with interesting facts.
A romantic experience by low light and candle light gave an ambience to romance in the early years of Sydney and a beautiful house.
Beautifully preserved building with stunning views. Be sure to visit the park across the road which has a lovely pond and grounds.
Lovely early Sydney mansion. Informative and interesting guide. Easy to get to from King's x Station, would highly recommend.
