El-Alamein Memorial Fountain reviews
16My brother Glenn, me and our personal protection apparatus, Pepe Chopper at El-Alamein Fountain Kings Cross, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
I've seen this fountain many times over the years. To me it's like the Opera House or Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Beautiful water fountain it reminds me of the water fountain in Christchurch, NZ. My little boy loved it too and we watched it while drinking juice.
Beautiful and iconic spot in the Cross. Usually sit here on a hot day letting the droplets from the fountain cool me off.
This little park and fountain are a lovely place to rest your feet for a few minutes when in Kings Cross. On Saturdays you can enjoy a small market with delicious local tastes and treats.
A nice relaxed space on the weekend. I really like this fountain and the cool spray it gives on a hot day.
Beautiful fountain located in the centre of Kings Cross / Potts Point. It’s a Sydney icon, and reminds me of a giant Dandelion. Built to commentate soldiers of WWll.
The park and plaza is a great place to stop and enjoy a coffee, lots of restaurant and cafe options in the area
One of the best fountains in Sydney, and close to numerous places to pick up food and then go over an enjoy it. There tend to be ibis and seagulls around quite often, but they don't disturb you too much. Finally, it's also great on a summer day when you can enjoy it's refreshing spray.
Beautiful feature of Potts Points. Apparently there's a Saturday market, which i stumbled upon and the area was energetic and lively.
Despite the gloom of covid-19, lots of people and pets (acting safe and appropriately ofc)
Around the fountains, there's a couple of birds with their poo bombs, so be careful of that when sitting around.
First saw this in 1974 but never knew where or what it signified (I was only 4 at the time!) Found it again last year when wandering 'The Cross'
Great area to visit and see. Beautiful foundation and on weekends they have an awesome farmers market to visit!
It's such a nice place to relax and the weekend market is awesome. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby.
A delightful fountain with great coffee right next to it.a bit like Europe. This is where I live.
Charming landmark. Completed 1961, designed by Robert Woodward. It's become synonymous with Kings Cross as a meeting spot. The park in the vicinity of the fountain hosts a weekend market with food stalls, fresh produce, flowers, bric-à-brac and buskers. Kings Cross police station is in the same vicinity.
Memories of adding shampoo and dancing in the water at dawn, are long gone. But still a classic landmark
Famous Sydney fountain in a once infamous district. A gloom has fallen over Kings Cross; but the fountain endures. But the water pressure no longer enough to 'fill out' the top nozzles of the installation; so much encapsulates The Cross. Aged and the aged, in tandem. So go if you want; the desolation of early morning evokes a heartache, if you want to torture yourself.
