Eight buns 笼笼香 reviews
27This place was definitely my favorite place. Super friendly staff and helpful. The restaurant was clean and honestly the food was so fresh and delicious I was impressed with everything. I’ll most certainly would come back to have more delicious food on the menu. Just walking past other people food I was oooh I want this … I want that. Compliments to the chef or chefs for making the delicious meals today. The dumplings are absolutely amazing.
I just came to this place today and I was very hungry. The family of seven had a great time eating here. The boss would specifically tell the chef to make the dishes lighter. The overall experience was very good! I will definitely come again next time I have a chance!
I stumbled upon this place because my hubby wanted a kebab from next door. I’m so happy I did because they were some of the best dumplings I’ve ever had, so light and fresh. Found my new fav spot! Thank you
Fish-flavored eggplant is super greasy
Rice is soft
Shrimp and pork dumplings taste worse than the ones I bought in Asia Supermarket
The food was excellent - it’s so nice to enjoy good Chinese cuisine in Newcastle. We ordered quite a range of dishes and liked them all - especially the lamb ribs and the spicy steamed fish. There was particularly good “wok hei” flavour in the fried rice. Will be back!
Waited over an hour in doorway to collect $100 takeaway that I was told would be 15 mins. Dry shredded beef was so burnt we couldn’t eat but can’t be bothered going back.
The best Chinese food I have ever had in 40 years. My advice would be to encourage everyone to eat at the restaurant rather than get a takeout. The food is fresh and delicious straight out of the kitchen. We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 6 and 4. We had spring rolls, colourful buns, cucumber salad, Mongolian beef, chicken and vegetables, duck roti and special fried rice and every mouthful was a delight. What we did not finish we took home and ate the next evening and the food remained delicious even after being reheated in a microwave. The children were happy and the staff were caring and kind to them from the moment we came in. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Had early dinner yesterday. Ordered a few dumplings, cold cucumber, and black pepper steak. Everything was yummy, good flavors.
Fantastic Food! The beat Chinese food I have ever had. Shared chicken and mushrooms, a tofu dish and shredded beef, rice. Generous servings, silky tofu.
Well priced.
Pleasant staff.
Cool bags for take away
Definitely returning for more!

Best bit - Duck pancakes…delicious! Worst bit - Finished our meal and still hadn’t received the rice we ordered. The food doesn’t tend to come in any set order, it just comes when it’s ready. I’d go back.
We were random walk in. The service was fast and friendly and the food was amazing. As a family we had set favourites - the chef took the food too another level. It was fresh clean flavours and was not coated in a layer of sesame oil. So delicious we even took home our left over rice!
Tried the Steamed Vegetarian Mini Bun, it was absolutely delicious. Me and my raved about it.
Really quick service (I was in for a really early dinner), everything was fresh and hot and the staff were helpful!
The food portion was big. We liked the Beijing Duck Chinese roti. It’s quite special and delicious. The special fried rice was just average. Chicken in chilli and Sichuan pepper sauce has too much sauce but the taste was nice.
If you are in Hamilton this place is a must visit, it has nice decor and the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent.
We love this restaurant and have been coming here for years. Service from a young man who was kind and friendly. Food always yummy.
Extremely oily spring rolls n thick layered half cooked dumplings.says enough for my rating. Quite an unpleasant experience
Though I've only been once, I find it was well worth the price. The food was really good and I had a great experience there.
Eight buns kind of subverts expectations, not in a bad way, and probably not intentionally.
Despite being a street fronted store, there's plenty of space inside and had become quite crowded and restaurant-y by the time we'd finished.
The dish that I assume is the signature dish, a plate different colored steamed buns, weirdly only has 7 buns. They were good, but the colouring on some made me eat a bit cautiously
Ordering is kind of fun, you are given a menu with pictures and thnn a form on which you tick and quantity each item you'd like.
Dan Dan noodles were good, beef and celery dumplins were good. Little piggy looking things filled with custard were.buns with custard, exactly as described on the order form.
For your information - the drink listed as Plum juice is actually Prune juice (another subverted expectation!)
So.would I go back?
Maybe. There's a thousand noodle and yum cha places, one even right next door, all up and down Beaumont street. There's no reason I'd avoid 7 buns, but for me, there's no reason I'd choose it over any other
Absolutely clueless service. Just went to get a take away and was told 10 minutes. Kept getting told 10 minutes and after an hour I still didn't get my food. I watched countless Uber drivers collect their orders. I am so annoyed as just wasted my time with this business that doesn't know how to manage and provide a service. Bye bye restaurant, I'll use another
