Eckersley’s Art & Craft reviews
35 This has to be the worst customer experience I have ever had.
I came to the store today (23/05/2023 at 11am) to look for a piece of acetate sheet. I stood by the counter and was ready for check out. Since there was no one at the counter, I rang the bell. The sales lady unwillingly came over. She asked if I was a member, I said no. She then proceeded to ask for my surname. I couldn’t hear what she asked, so I asked her to repeat herself. She repeated herself and I answered her. To which I felt very strange, as I am not a member and I came to only purchase a piece of acetate sheet. She went on to ask for my given name. Again she was mumbling, I did not hear her clearly so I asked her to repeat herself. After she repeated the question, I asked her if it was necessary to know my given name. In a very blunt manner, she said that I told her I was a member. I reiterated that I am not. She responded by stating that I should speak clearly. I replied by saying that it goes both ways as I couldn’t hear her properly either. ‘Excuse me? ’ she said with a detestable look on her face. She then flared her temper at me told me to ‘Just go’.
The sales lady was very unprofessional and clearly lack customer service skills. The interaction I had with her left me feeling very disrespected, I will never come back. If all staff are like her, I would strongly advice people to not purchase from this store.
Helpful service, had everything I needed. Would recommend this place for art supplies if you’re in Chatswood.
I normally don't like leaving poor reviews, but under the circumstances I feel a sense of responsibility to warn other visitors, and possibly provide feedback that might improve the customer experience for others.
I was very disappointed by my visit to Eckersley's; the staff (Jessica, who completed my checkout, and a very slim young woman wearing glasses and a septum piercing) were disinterested going on comatose and made me feel as if they couldn't wait until I had left so they could get back to whatever they'd been doing before I came in - which frankly didn't seem like much. They were both perched behind the counter and did nothing to greet or engage with me; if there had been a line of people waiting to make their purchases, I would not have minded about this in the slightest, but I was one of only two customers at the store, and the other person paid and left soon after my arrival.
The range of pigments available was limited to only a display stand of Jacquard items, which was patchily stocked at best, and I was astounded that there were no pre-cut origami sheets available - as there are in every other Eckersley's branch I've ever visited. I am a huge fan of this brand, and its stores are normally characterised by an inspiring kaleidoscope of colour and creativity. Not so in the case of Chatswood Chase, I'm afraid; the St Leonard's branch is just down the road, you would do better to visit that one instead.
Overall, the shop wasn’t bad. It was a bit small and the selection of items was a bit random. I would suggest that you go to a bigger store or maybe even an office works but, again, it wasn’t bad.
Live Eckersley's Art.
I am a Professional Face Painter in Sydney and I absolutely love the products on this store, including Face Painting brushes, glitters, and Face paint make up cakes.
So many crafts here to buy for you children.
Must visit Eckersleys to purchase all your children's art supplies
Absolutely fantastic experience. The staff are so knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. Thank you to the lovely lady who helped me and my son Charlie
Eckersley can never be bad, it's my dream store. Can spend hours in it.
The chatswood one is much richer in terms of product variety, and is located in an easy to reach place. I love the St Leonards's one too. Especially the staff in that little store are amazing. So helpful and friendly
Lovely workers that are so helpful one of the girls is tall and speaks like a beautiful elegant fairy! I love her!
Great range and stock, unfortunately however one of the staff members were a bit rude but other than that a lovely store
Great amount of art and craft; well displayed. Friendly greeting, offer of assistance and great farewell.
Very new to the oil painting world. I was helped by Alex and he patiently answered all my baby questions. Highly recommend the shop!
Very well supplied store with friendly staff who are happy to give you help and suggestions. Staff have great product knowledge and are great at recommending gift ideas.
Very good supply of a variety of art materials for all artists, beginner and professional. Friendly service. I'm sure you could order materials into the store if not on shelf.
Friendly staff, tons of supplies - not quite as well stocked as the Eckersley's in the city centre, but it's close!
I received VERY average customer service today. Having asked for assistance I received a less than helpful attitude, which I found disappointing given there were only 2 customers in the store.
Not going to get repeat business with that performance.
One of my favourite arts store to go to, I love how they have a generous variety of products that are not overly priced
Huge range of products with staff that know their way around! Shopping experience was smooth and quick.
Its a little hard to find at first, its tucked away between several kid's stores (or stores that hold items for kids and babies). However, its really big and has a very wide range of goods. The staff are very friendly and eager to help (but not pushy) and you'll definitely find what you're looking for here.
Always love going in here. Always leave with more than I'd planned. Staff are great, store is well stocked and presented.
I usually visit this art & craft store to purchase stuff for my art work.various ranges of stuffs, I love! But only problem is the price, quite expensive.
To be honest, the quality is absolutely gorgeous.
