I highly recommend Dr. Laurent for his extremely helpful support during some of the most challenging times of my life. His advice is not just knowledgeable but grounded in practicality. Dr. Laurent exhibited resilience and ethics by standing firm against false reviews (chucky), showcasing his commitment to doing what is right and providing help to me even when it could risk further retaliation. His services come highly recommended for the invaluable support and insightful guidance he offers.

Apparently partners of patients get to leave reviews these days (see 'Chucky'). So here's my 2c worth.

Steve has been helping my partner through her complex mental health needs for close to a decade now. He has maintained the highest levels of professional standards that I have seen, and I've interacted with a lot of psychologists both throughout my career and in my personal life.

He utilises wit and humour, mixed with compassion and empathetic directness to empower a person to understand, process and grow. Both my partner and I are incredibly grateful he exists. We simply would not be the well rounded, compassionate and effectively communicative couple that we are now if it were not for his sound advice and effective skillset in psychology.

Steven failed to diagnose my personality disorder. 2 years later after losing everything I valued I now have the professional help to rebuild my life and work with my personality disorder.

A very insightful and genuine experience where I felt comfortable and able to walk through several issues that had really held me back in life. Nothing but praise and appreciation for Steven. A great sense of humour as well! Thanks again!

It is a great pleasure to write a recommendation for Dr Steven Laurent.
Steven has worked with a member of my family for a number of years.

It is difficult to overstate the profound and positive impact he has made over this time.

His approach with a person who was cynical of, and jaded with mental health professionals was totally refreshing. Within the very first appointment he managed to make my family member feel heard, understood, validated and given real, tangible hope for a way towards a more positive, productive and meaningful life. There was even laughter - incredible!

Since then, Steven has been a highly attentive and skilled guide for my family member through the inevitable ups and downs of life.
Steven is hugely intelligent, yet also empathetic - a rare combination - with just the right balance of personal connectedness and professional detachment. He is highly adept at knowing when to challenge, when to help, practically, with reframing thoughts and misconceptions, and when to just sit and listen. He has empowered my family member by working with them to create a practical, methodical plan towards creating the meaningful life they desire.

Steven's intellect, generosity of spirit, patience, humour and evident care and genuine concern make him an extraordinary psychologist. I cannot recommend Steven highly enough. He has transformed my family member's life and for that I am eternally grateful.

Firstly, I highly recommend Dr Steven Laurent
Steven is fully engaged with his clients, he took the time and effort to understand the context of my mental health issues and the pressures that I was under (toddler and seriously ill partner). Over the past year he has really helped me get back on my feet and allowed me to lead a healthy and happy life again. This is something which I don’t think I could have done by myself.
Before Steven I’d seen a few other Psychiatrists and had become jaded and rather cynical in the process. Steven gained my trust and started problem solving ingrained emotional issues whilst pragmatically dealing with real world problems.
Finally, he is intelligent, empathetic and has a good sense of humor. A great psychiatrist and a great support to myself and my family.

I am the client in question (RE: Chucky) and I would more than highly recommend Dr Laurent who is extremely intelligent and intuitive. Steven is far from arrogant. He is professional, compassionate and makes his clients feel safe and understood. He has great insight into his area of expertise.

Indicated to his patient they didn't have any Anger Management issues and recommended them not to come back. His patient now has an assault charge as well as an AVO inclusive of their children. His patient is now taking Anger Management classes via a non for profit organisation and is finding it very helpful. Steve is a dangerous practitioner as he has demonstrated he can cause more damage due to his arrogance. Steve should not be practicing so you are better off seeking expert help via a non for profit who is dealing with issues on a high frequency basis and lacks the arrogance of Steve to take the time to work through underlying issues.

I have been a client Dr Steven Laurent for a number of years. When I was first referred to Steve, I was in a dark place: recent university drop-out, unemployed, single, deeply depressed, anxiety ridden and with thoughts of just ending it all. My life was a hopeless mess.

Steve has helped me to overcome all of those challenges and to get my life back on track. I am now employed full-time with a great company and in a long-term, committed, loving relationship for the first time in my life.

He can be empathetic and caring when it's needed, but is also willing to push you out of your comfort zone in order to get you to do what's necessary, which I often needed and I'm grateful for. I have seen a number of therapists over the years, but only Steve has been able to help me turn my life around.

Steve has been incredibly generous, gracious and patient with me over the years. He is also a genuinely great conversationalist, articulate, funny, well-read and well traveled.

I highly recommend Dr Steve Laurent for anyone suffering from depression, anxiety or if your life is just so hopelessly chaotic that you don't know where to start in order to put the pieces back together, I believe that Steve can help you as he has helped me.

I was first recommended to See Dr Laurent 2 years ago via my G. P. At that time I was going through a major relationship break up and I was also suffering from ongoing issues to do with anxiety and low level depression.
At first I had been quite reticent to make an appointment with Dr Laurent. I had by that stage, already seen a number of other psychologists.whilst admittedly at the time, it had been quite a cathartic process in simply being able to talk out many of my problems and frustrations, at the end of the day I had never really felt that any of the therapists which I’d visited had been overly insightful into my situation, nor had they ever felt enboldened enough to actually offer me any concrete advice in regards as to how I might begin to remedy my situation.
This all changed with my first appointment with Dr Laurent. From the word go I immediately noticed a major difference in his direct and focused approach towards unpacking the problems at hand. Dr Laurent was both highly methodical and analytical, whilst somehow at the same time presenting his findings to me in a concise and easily digestible form. Over the course of sessions I had with him, we also tried many different mental exercises; trying to get at some of the many subconscious fears and motivations belying my mental state whilst I was anxious or depressed. Essentially he taught me how to think outside of myself, and in this way I gained many an invaluable insight into the reasons behind why I seemed to keep falling into the same unhealthy habbits over and over again. Finally someone was giving me the tools I needed!
It was at this point when I began to realise that I was definitely on to something.
I could see the changes and improvements beginning to take effect. And not only that, but friends and family also began to tell me that they’d noticed a difference. I had never expected to end up enjoying the therapy as much as I did. I began to look forward to the sessions. So many times I found that Dr Laurent, whilst himself keeping a straight face, was actually able to have me in stitches! Laughing so much that by the end of a session, the gravity of all my problems began to diminish. It often felt more like I was chatting with a close friend than with a professional psychologist. This made it so much easier to let down my guard. I feel that we made progress a lot faster.
Most importantly, Dr Laurent was able to map out a cohesive, step by step plan of attack of how I was to proceed. He was not afraid to tell me exactly what he thought. He inspired confidence and gave me the solid advice that I’d sought after. Over a few months, with feedback from the recommendations he’d made as well as slight adjustments here and there to the plan; I was able to largely overcome come my anxiety and depression and to take back control of my life.
Dr Laurent is an outstanding psychologist and should be regarded as ahead in his field. I really cannot recommend him highly enough.

Over the years I've been to a number of mental health professionals, and I haven't always found them very helpful. For me, Steven is one of the very best I've seen. He's intelligent, he listens and remembers. He is generous, flexible, no nonsense, challenging and has a good sense of humour. I have recommended him to several other people and would happily do so again.

Dr Laurent is one of the best psychologists I've ever met. His ability to get to the heart of matters and reframe or resolve my problems and to have greater perspective on issues was an awakening and great healing process.
