Dr Rodney Allan reviews
13 Dr Rodney Allan & his team were life changers for me!
I was in chronic pain & they fixed my problem!
I can’t thank them enough!
They have given me my life back!
Thankyou so much!
Dr Allan is an excellent and remarkable neurosurgeon. I can't thank him and his team enough for all the care that they have provided me.
Dr Allen performed a microdiscectomy on my L5/S1 in 2010, at the time it was a WorkCover related accident so he was very eager to see me knowing very well that he would be able to charge whatever he liked as he was my prefered specialist. I contacted him this week for an appointment as I am having problems with my lumbar and cervical spine thinking that as a previous patient he would be able to give me some sound advice as to what to do, however, because I am now a public patient he refused to see me even though he claims on his website that he does see public patients. I can only feel that this Mr Allen does not care about people he has previously operated on, and he only cares about the big bucks.
So "GET LOST Mr ALLEN"
Had an appointment with Dr Allan on March 25th with positive news.
The assistance I received from his receptionists was extremely professional and helpful.
Dr Allan treated my mother for a complex aneurysm. His manner is compassionate and he anticipated our questions and gave excellent answers and brilliant support to us all. So thankful for his expertise
Dr Allan worked a miracle in re-arranging cervical neurosurgery during the covid lockdown when they cancelled elective surgery in 2021 by shifting me to the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. His skill and precision resulted in an excellent outcome. He is also one of the rare neurosurgeons who are on the Access Gap cover scheme with Healthshare and private funds so you have a known gap for private health care.
Many thanks am very relieved to be able to have an operation which will relieve my pain and mean I don’t need to take regular medication to manage my condition.
Great doctor who was prepared for my appointment, had expert knowledge and actually listened to me. I’m hopeful he can help where others couldn’t.
Dr Rodney Allan, he’s an excellent person, thanks so much Dr to see me in your private room. Im very grateful for the and happy to see him today!
Hes the best surgeon I've ever see. The miracle he did for my husband. No more pain and my husband can enjoy his life again. Thanks so much Doctor, God Bless you always.
I presented with a herniated disc. They call you ahead of your appointment to check if you have the operation ticket item in your private health cover, so they can fill their schedule with people they can potentially operate on - such a money driven approach.
Surgeon appointments are covered by Medicare and everyone should have a right for an appointment - I would be wary of a clinic that only wants to see patients they are hoping to operate on.
Dr Allen exhibits a financial conflict of interest by only taking on patients that will potentially earn him a lot of money rather than taking on cases that can also possibly be managed conservatively without surgery.

I was not after treatment in the public sector. I was referred to you specifically so that I could be treated in the private sector. I was referred as an urgent case. As stated above, the first thing I was asked when called about the appointment was did my health fund cover item 51011.
I was unsure at the time, and was told that if I wasn't covered for item 51011 then I could not be seen. I was quite prepared to pay in full if required. The hospital cover is only around $8.5K, on top of the $10K you have to pay out of pocket regardless of your health cover. It turns out that I was fully covered by my health insurance in the end, but it lead me into a dark spiral, worrying I might not be covered and delayed me getting treatment from another private neurosurgeon. My issue is with how shocked I was to be turned away if I potentially did not have 51011 covered by my health fund. I am sure plenty of others would be quite happy to pay in full if required, as I was.
In on 26 October 2017 I had headache, dizziness And vomiting.
After spending 3 nights in Bankstown hospital! I was finally been transferred from Bankstown hospital to RPA. They repeat of the same tests plus two special tests before deciding if I should have surgery.this took ten days in RPA before it was decided that my shunt could be the cause of my symptoms and that I needed to have surgery.
After having my surgery and been discharged from hospital! I had to wait eleven weeks for my post surgery follow up.
