Dr John Tawfik is a lifesaver as he managed to book me in for surgery 3 days after my initial consult as he could see how worried and anxious I was about my right trigger thumb surgery. Thanks to his urgency, I did not have time to stress or freak out, or worse, change my mind. Dr John is friendly, attentive and reassuring. He even referred me to physiotherapy for my thumb in the same building as his office, which was very convenient as I would see him first and then arrange for my therapy afterwards. Even though this is the first time Dr John undertook my surgery, this is my second time having the same problem, but on a different hand. My first surgery was in 2009. I am told in future I risk having this problem again in one of my other fingers. I am very fortunate to have found Dr John as I would not hesitate to go back to him. Dr John really took good care of me and his staff is kind and helpful.

Dr Tawfik and his team have been so lovely, reassuring and accommodating. I broke my radius overseas on a Wednesday, called Dr Tawfik’s office on the Thursday and had an appointment the following Monday, with surgery straight after on Friday. No mucking about!
I’m now 9 weeks post surgery and back into ocean swimming and Pilates. I can’t thank him and his team enough for giving me back the ability to do all the things I love in life so quickly. The care I felt throughout this whole process has also been incredible. Can’t recommend them enough!

Dr Tawfik and his team took amazing care of me. After a skiing accident, in which I broke my distal radius and required surgery, Dr Tawfik was able to see me within days and assigned a surgery date within the week. The surgery was a huge success and now, only three months later, I'm back doing all the things I love including yoga and ocean swimming. Dr Tawfik and his team were very kind, compassionate, patient and accommodating. I cannot recommend Dr Tawfik highly enough and I'm extremely grateful to him for the excellent outcome.

Dr Tawfik was a very personable doctor, always on time with his appointments and very modern with his patient files. His Macquarie Street rooms were light and airy and welcoming. I was able to obtain the last place on his operating list before Christmas and before the onset of the banning of elective surgery. St Luke's Hospital is a wonderful facility and I was very comfortable there whilst waiting for my surgery. My post operative appointments (2) were quick and easy and, again, Dr Tawfik was on time! My hand operation was a great success and I thank you Dr Tawfik and Crystal for making me feel welcome and for looking after me so well.

My experience with Dr Tawfik was positive from the start. His explanation of my condition and subsequent treatment options were clear and unbiased. His approach to my condition was that I should evaluate my quality of life in making my decision to have surgery. There was absolutely no pressure on his part to have surgery, which I found refreshing. I tried other options available to me over a period of months, unfortunately, these were short term relief solutions and eventually I decided to have surgery. Successfully executed and my present quality of life has returned to normal and I have returned to my employment.

Dr Tawfik’s receptionist is outstanding in her interpersonal dealings with myself. Again very refreshing to have such a wonderful frontline face dealing with your patients. Friendly but always professional, compassionate but realistic, efficient and genuine. Always a pleasure to attend my appointment or speak on the phone.

Dr Tawfik’s rooms are literally a room with a view. Clean, open and inviting. Easy access for anyone even those with a disability. The facilities attached to his rooms are also excellent and clean.

My surgery was undertaken at the Day Surgery Clinic at Wollongong Private Hospital. This facility is impressive. Beautiful is the first word that came to mind from the time I sat down in the waiting area for my surgery. Confidence was kept high by professional and friendly staff dealings. Overall it was a very pleasant experience where you were well cared for and informed of procedures and what was to come. Always reassuring when you have that information prior to surgery as it definitely helps to remove any anxiety you may have under the circumstances. An extremely professional team. Congratulations!

I must also make mention of my Hand Therapist, Anna, another gem added to DR Tawfik’s team that he surrounds himself with. Excellent care by my Hand Therapist which had a profound affect on my hand surgery recovery and personal confidence that over time, with dedication to instruction and patience I would regain full use of my hand. Thankyou!

All round it was, as I said a positive and successful experience. I am truly grateful for Dr Tawfik’s care and expertise and his surrounding team of professionals. Love your work!

John Tawfik is an excellent surgeon and doctor. He is empathetic and warm. He listens and takes notice. And his attention to detail has meant the best result possible for my crushed finger bone. I'm really pleased and really grateful, thanks John!

This was the second hand surgery procedure that I have had with John Tawfik and as with the first Carpal Tunnel operation the Trigger Finger surgery I have recently completed was extremely successful and the relief from hand pain and discomfort life changing, to say the least. Dr Tawfik's patient understanding and his heart felt consideration for my discomfort was indeed greatly appreciated and I thank him sincerely for what he has done for me. I would be remiss if I did not also add a big "Warm Fuzzy" for Crystal at the front desk who went out of her way to be of assistance and this, always given with a big smile! A great TEAM. Again Sincere Thanks Clive Pickering.

As a returning patient after several years, I had another great experience with Dr Tawfik. He was thorough, professional and considered in his approach to understanding all possible causes for my situation and clearly communicated all options and possibilities for me to consider. Highly recommend.

I have had four separate surgeries with Dr Tawfik for the treatment of trigger finger on both hands.

He is kind, caring and I never feel rushed during my appointments. I would happily recommend him, and have done so, to friends and family.

Thank you Dr Tawfik.

Due to the heavy work which i did in past has made my right hand really sore and made really difficult and painfull to move on some direction. My GP has refered me to Dr John Tawif. Such a woderful person. I expeined him all the things and he suggested me to go for a small surgery were i will be able to move my hand like before. He explained me each and every things about how the surgery goes and he gave me all the confidence i needed.

Surgery was perfect. Happy part i didnt even know or felt anything. After surgery he came up to me and said my hand is being fixed and told with the proper rest I will be able to go back to work soon.

Dont know what made him but he even reduced his surgery cost, which was really helpful for me. Frankly speaking hard to find such doctors. Thank you Doctor, really thank you for what you did. As long as me and my family stays in Australia Dr John Tawif will be our Doctor for future and I really recommend Dr John Tawif. Best Doctor.

I got a refferal to see Dr. John Tawfik, but he wouldn't even give me an appointment! Sent all my reports and scans to him, then someone called from his office and said he wouldn't see me. I insisted to get an appointment as my hand condition is really bad, and it has lost its function but the lady said that won't be possible!
wow!

A great hand surgeon who is humble, honest and truly cares for his patients by listening to them. For 14 months I was told by 48 doctors there would be no recovery for my non-functional thumb, index finger and the four paralysed muscles in my forearm. I was ready to accept my loss and do everything single handed for the rest of my life. Dr Tawfik was my last hope. After trying various conservative treatments over four months, we took the surgical option as the last resort. Recovery started within two days and four months later, I had full use of my hand and arm. I can't thank Dr Tawfik enough. Dinaaz Lentin

I have been seeing Dr Tawfik for a fractured scaphoid. It happened at the worst time of year when i didn't think that i would be able to get in to see him, to my surprise i was squeezed in that week to see Dr Tawfik. I found him and his staff to be extremely pleasant as well as professional. Definitely would recommend seeing him to anyone.

I saw Dr Tawfik in late 2019 about Dupuytrens contracture, which I'd suffered for a number of years. In particular I wanted to discuss with him the potential to use Xiaflex, rather than a full operation, to straighten the little finger of my left hand. He did an excellent job in communicating what would be achievable (and what would not) by injecting Xiaflex to give more flexibility to the tightened 'cord' which which had contracted my little finger severely. The procedure went well and I particularly appreciated the follow-up appointments where he monitored and helped me manage the physio-intensive recovery period.
