Cumberland State Forest reviews
47 Great place in the heart of the hills for a walk amongst nature. There are numerous tracks to walk of varying lengths. Feel the temperature change as they drop down into the lush green coolness along the creeks and streams, shaded by the canopy above. Listen to the Kookaburras as they fly above amongst the trees.
There are various picnic areas as well as a Cafe with a great choice of food.
There is also a Treetops Adventure area for those who want to get up into the trees.
Multiple parking grounds, good for bush walking. Most walking trails are easy and don't take long to complete.
A small forest inside Sydney with small walking tracks, a cute beautiful nursery, playground and picnic area.
It is beautiful, (on the day) peaceful and quiet. The coffee was very good and the amenities clean. A very nice place to picnic or visit for a stroll.
Simply Beautiful!
You would never know that you are in Sydney, seems like you are a million miles from anywhere!
Lovely place to visit.an oasis amongst the busy traffic and suburban streets.
Plenty of bird sounds.
Walking tracks.
Cafe.dine in or takeaway.
Toilets.
Plant nursery.
Peaceful easy walk on The Sensory Trail. Great for prams and people who need a reasonably flat & even surface to walk on. Bonus Cafe and plant Nursery near by to entry of Sensory Trail and parking.
Great place to walk and enjoy the outdoors. The sensory walk is easy and interesting to do with kids.
Lovely bush trails for a range of ages and abilities. Lots of bird life, including bellbirds at the top of the hill near Castle Hill Road. Toilets are usually quite clean, and the addition of more near Swains Picnic Area / Treetops Climbing is a very convenient bonus. Cafe and nursery on site if they are of interest to you, and several picnic areas.
Gorgeous forest and easy beautiful walks, there’s also a nursery and a cafe ️. The best is you can take your dog with you. Will be coming back for sure!
Being a local I often frequent this wonderful forest while talking afternoon walks. Honestly the quality of the forest trails are truly excellent and I would highly recommend visiting this oasis of nature within suburban Sydney. I have been coming here since I was 4 and 20 years later it never ceases to amaze me.
Nice place to walk in the forest and enjoy the beauty of the nature. There are several picnic areas with barbecue places. If you go too late on the weekend, finding a proper car park can be an issue.
Great for short walks with the family (30-40mins) in a circuit. Even has a lovely pram accessible track (sensory trail). Beautiful outside cafe where you can bring your dog and wonderful nursery filled with natives, vegetables and indoor plants.
A great place for a family picnic (big field surrounded by trees after the nursery).
There's also plenty of parking.
There is a big nursery with a cafe. Plenty of toilets so you won't get caught out.
Some nice short trails through the Forrest. Very picturesque and feel right in the bush.
It is a nice bush walk within the Hills shire, with multiple trails. There is a small trail which is pram friendly and is hardly 100mts walk, it is especially good for little one's as the trail offers sensory experience. The Palm Gully trail is good for 4-5 years old at the end of which is a nursery with quite a good options for flowering plants
Very nice bush walk trails. The forestry trail got better view and you can see the tree top above. Great walk with a 3 yrs old.
Nice place to be especially with young kids. The routes are well-defined as easy, medium and tough etc. Has a beautiful plants nursery at the end of the reserve.
Sprawling forest tucked away into mid-90s suburbia. Great place to see trees if you’ve never left the hills
Surprisingly diverse. Great place to go for a walk through tall forests so close to suburban Sydney.
As the only Metropolitan State Forest in Australia, it is served as the lung of Greater Sydney Region. Consisting 40 hectares of native trees and vegetations, Cumberland State Forest is located on a hill slope of West Pennent Hills, and just 26 kilometers from CBD. I very much enjoy wandering on those Bush Walking Trails and listening to the songs of various birds; as well as shopping at its well established Nursery. Within the Forest, there are also Cafe; Picnic, BBQ facilities; and a very popular Tree Tops Adventure Park. With Koala Park just stone's throw away, it makes Cumberland State Forest a wonderful destination for one's weekend getaway. I have taken some photos with my Phone Camera, and I am uploading a few as my recommendation.
