This place is unbelievable,
The staff don't care about anyone & all the patients are put on paliperidone & orlanzapine which turns them into manageable zombies,
I was sitting on my girlfriends bed & one of the nurses said that it was inappropriate & I laughed, later on I was told that the nurse said that I was doing something sexual & I was almost banned from visiting my girlfriend
That nurse in particular is a putrid disgrace of a human being & I believe that she said that to get more funding
Don't take anyone to this place

I was scheduled here for two weeks earlier this year because of lying neighbours, emergency service workers and hospital staff. The psychiatrist assigned to me is related to my neighbours and provided them with info I told her in confidential sessions. She had me undergo unnecessary tests to try and find something that she could use to diagnose me with a mental illness I do not have. If you are a Freemason victim like me, then God help you because nobody else will.

My experience at PARINGA WARD was extremely unsafe and I am deeply concerned about the quality of care provided by this facility.

Firstly, the staff showed no compassion toward patients and their lack of care has had a significant impact on my mental and physical health. I was incorrectly placed in a ward where I felt traumatised by my surroundings. I was verbally abused, pushed and threatened by other patients, and staff did not provide me with any support or protection.

The facilities were horrible. The rooms were freezing and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The toilets were dirty and there were bugs flying around. When a patient vomited on the floor, staff cleaned it up with paper towels instead of using disinfectant wipes.

Moreover, I was mistreated by a specific staff member named Rebecca Marasignan. She showed utter disrespect towards me and staff put me on medications without my knowledge. When I asked what medication I was being given, I was lied to (only to find out when I fought for a copy of my discharge summary). In addition, I found a razor in the bathroom, which posed a significant risk to my safety.

The behavior of other patients, including fights and screaming, made me feel unsafe and scared (I have since been diagnosed with PTSD). Staff did not take adequate action to address these issues or ensure my safety. I also had food stolen from me and suffered torn ligaments in my neck due to brutality of the security staff (Dereje Abetua is the name of the security guard who tackled me onto concrete when I tried to abscond and shook me like a rag doll then laughed).

I am genuinely worried about the incompetence of the staff and medical “professionals” at this hospital. I have contacted the Health Care Complaints Commission who have been assisting me in attaining an apology for what cannot be ignored or questioned due to falsified information in my discharge summary. I hope that this complaint will lead to improvements in the quality of care provided by this facility and the removal of staff members who are not suited to this profession!

This is only a fraction of the information and I acknowledge that working in a public mental health facility is difficult and our health system is underfunded, however, compassion and honesty cannot be hard!

ANTIPSYCHOTICS AND ECT DOES NOT BENEFIT THE PATIENT it only benefits the lazy humans surrounding them. AND SHUTS UP ANY QUESTIONS FROM A INTELLIGENT HILLARIOUS ECCENTRIC ARTISTIC PATIENT. UR FAMILY WILL BE MOCKED & IGNORED WHEN BEING A WELL SPOKEN CIVIL POLITE PATIENT. Instead of talking to your loved ones Dr Sylvia barber mocks and intimidates patients & staff and ignores families simple questions.
SYLVIA BARBER is obsessed with abusing and resuscitating our mothers fathers sisters &brothers with 100s of (SHOULD BE LAST RESORT) dangerous E. C. T CYCLES with INTENTIONAL broken promises to release her patient 24hrs later. Sylvia wants all of our loved ones to forget absolutely everything including their own reflection. & including simple mathematics and basic but essential motor skills and should be investigated for her wreckless inappropriate behaviour.
Can Someone please teach Dr sylvia barber
Healthy body healthy mind
Sylvia barber is a gluttonous greedy swine.

The wait can be long so be prepared, but the nurses were very caring and checked in on us if we needed anything. Suggest getting a pcr test before coming in to avoid having to wait hrs for the results then to see a doctor.

I called them for information about the visiting regulations, the staff that answered was very rude, she sounding angry at me for not knowing the hospital's admission system process. Totally unhelpful and condescending.

Do not recommend.my mother in law was in for 6 weeks and came out 10x worst then when she went in. She was sent home with none of her belongings she went in with as staff managed to lose all of her stuff including; clothes, perfume, makeup ect.they also failed to inform us that she had caught Covid whilst in hospital. We only found out she had Covid because when she got out we had her tested so she could go to another hospital and the test returned positive. To say we are outraged is an understatement.

A huge Thank You to the medical staff for your firmness and assistance. Thank you for providing ECT and sorting out medication combinations. I had a family member admitted for 3 months and your systematic approach steered him to a much better place emotionally, you basically cared him back to life. Thank you!

Cumberland Hospital is an incredible organisation full of top people that care about the well being of their patients.

I know quite a few of their staff behind the scenes have the inside view of this organisation; and it's wonderful.

It has a top working culture, great facilities, the management care and the staff put their patients first.

There is also lots of incredible gardens and heritage listed buildings too that make it an amazing place to see and experience.

Great people and LOVE THEIR WORK!

Excellent nursing staff but very poorly staffed with qualified doctors at critical times and limited approach with little attempt made to provide dietary support to correlate with an appropriate diet provision that supplements mental health treatment and recovery. Poorly cleaned and requiring significant upgrade of comfortable bedding, temperature control, room for patients to exercise and incorporate a wholistic approach to recovery. No induction provided to patients about location of essential facilities and poor provision of treatment plans and communication with patients and families in treatment plans.

The level of care and attention to detail the team in Social Work has shown one of its consumers has been outstanding. As someone who has has a bad experience at other organizations It warmed the my heart to see this and has made me an advocate for its service's

Great Experience at the drug repurposement facility, I used to smoke pot, but now i am on a mixture of medications murdering my organs slowsly im sure, the nurses there have all of the knowledge and none of the power, the drs are just trying to figure out how to best spend the resourses with little to no attention paid to underlying issues no therapy, they just want to aleviate symptoms you have purely from being there, definately make sure your child isnt autistic before a visit here,
sometimes a visit here alone might send you autistic watching the beuaracratic process beat down every nurse dr involved one by one. I loved my time here, i got better and recovered. I cant thank the staff enough. Shout out to my HAinsworth OGS Jimmy and Andrew in hainsworth Magda Chris Nick evangaline sheila its nice there are people here making a difference, not just collecting a pay check. Krishna and Sonu Thanks for always being cheery, But stay away from the medication window, your dispensing the lawsuits of the future for alot of patients who are simply just scared of being there. And the long term effects of benzos are looking worse and worse over time. Theres a problem with information often taking 48 hours to make it to the nursing staff from drs apppointments, this results in countless escaltions, unneccesary trauma for the patients and staff, it creates a bottle neck and reactive culture in the nursing station, i submitted a form to HARI but he probably just binned it, it will results in less voilence against nurses, i rang the htc and was direted to the beuaracratic slum of a govertment sit. I lost the link and i need it again, can someone post here where i go to submit a form of operations for "AFTER APPOINTMENT WORK TO ACTION" to give patients and nursing staff to reduce overall stresss on the system.

Cheers cumberlands favourite Bipoliar patient, bipolaring forward for a better tomorrow.

It’s actually worth paying to go to a private specialist. I found a private specialist in Lane Cove who often sees me through Telehealth appointments and made a huge improvement for my health. I was even shocked when the doctor I had sessions with at Cumberland had numerous reprimands with The Medical Board. My husband encouraged me to withdraw from Cumberland’s services as I was getting worst, not better. The staff at Cumberland are inexperienced and simply wasted my time.

Some doctors name come to mind
1. Dr vandaraj or what ever the @@@@ your name was
What a joke of a doctor, makes accusations without reason and that are not even true. Provides exaggerated piece of reports without even having consulting or seeing the patient in the first place and resorts to being dismissive when confronted. Kind of amusing the way he looks when he thinks he is above the patient and ignoring you.

Otherwise or in general
Sometimes other doctors lose empathy in their patients, ive seen it many times. I was denied a simple medicine change by another dr, when i had an impaired thought process, chronic sadness, a confused thoughts, and a crazy painful outburst reaction in my mind where is end up crying constantly. I never used to beg or plea or cry, but my state of perception was drastically impaired. Thanks for not believing your patients.
Pffft @@@@ you man.

Doctors have no idea how a mental illness is really like sometimes.

The nurses are nice though and i really commend some.but i'm not going to mention a lot of names anyway.
Thanks leo, you saved me a few times there hehe

Anyway just a review.

Ps.
If you have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and you are put here involuntarily, you probably will end up on a CTO (community treatment order). Hehe just saying.
Best wishes

Staff r nice. Condition of the hospital it’s okay. The room I was staying in was very cold and noisy. Other patients were generally nice. Not the best experience

As an former employee, this is the best psychiatric hospital I have ever worked for. The internal processes and controls are robust, the level of training and career development opportunities is excellent and; staff members are easy to work with and are cooperative. I even played basketball with the patients. From the perspective of patients I can understand why they may be dissatisfied with the level of care or are scared & frightened. This is an public acute psychiatric hospital where the acuity of illness is high.

Where do we begin?
It seems staff are not willing to have the patience and care for those suffering with a mental illness, Im really sorry to be of such a pain needing a drink of water while I sat for three-five hours in a waiting room with a prisoner on a couch next to me, corrective staff with their phone out sat opposite me and a woman having a complete and utter breakdown. Toilets were absolutely filthy, and the bin overflowing.
I was finally admitted to a bed at 4am, given two bits of jam bread. (I was basically forced to voluntarily sign in, Id prefer home). 8am I was awoken for a blood test, standard screenings Id had at my GP a week prior.
Not a great start to mood improvement! Vitals taken, considered 'healthy' despite a serious viral infection and being underweight. I then met with the mental health team who were very easily convinced I was ok to go.
It then took hours upon hours for the NUM to play footy after which he decided he would get my taxi vouchers from some other department then also put that with my mobile and put me in a cab. The voucher wasnt even enough to get home. The acute care team come one week later.
ZERO STARS

We get a lot of wrong numbers at my work from people looking for this place. Just had a call from a guy looking for his friend in Emergency. Maybe check the number before calling? Hopefully your contact number is up to date.
