Crow's Custom Paint reviews
5 Steve at Crow's Custom Paint worked wonders on my Honda CB450 K5. The bike was pretty original mechanically when I got it, but it had been repainted a metallic red/brown that was way off the original factory Candy Garnet Brown, and the tank stripes had not been replaced.
There are no colour codes for the early 70's Honda's and through investigation Steve figured out that a green blue base overlayed with a Candy Tangerine would hit the original mark. He experimented with coat numbers and the results you can see in the pictures.
He painted the stripes to perfectly match the originals. No stickers or decals here. It is now a stunning reproduction of the original factory paintwork.
Steve is a very friendly, experienced, knowledgeable professional. The quality of work and attention to detail on my tank and sidecovers was exceptional. He has produced a piece of art.
If you want to restore the paint on an older bike, he has the industry history, the enthusiasm for classics, and certainly the skills to ensure you will get what you want.
We have been using crows custom paint for over 30 years now so thank you Steve for allways delivering perfection in motorcyle painting and body repairs
Let's be honest and agree that paint is 95% preparation, which means (no disrespect to your mate who's a "painter") if the preparation is superb it's pretty difficult not to have the paint turn out at least reasonably well.
With that assumption out of the way, let's examine why Crow's Custom Paint is the right place for your motorcycle.
1) They've been doing this since the 1970s, so they have the benefit of both having been there when these bikes were new, and probably re-painting a few since then.
2) They have original colour palettes! Yup, no guesswork required, just straight to the paint bibles, and discussion over.
3) What good is great paint over broken bodywork or pattern parts? OEM is the right way to do things, and Crow's agrees, so if your parts need some love, fixing cracks, dents, or tabs that have broken off, let these experts get them sorted.
4) A lack of planning on your part, doesn't equate to urgency on theirs.
For example, that project you've had lingering in the shed or garage for years, but never had the time to finish, now takes priority because you're "working from home". Ok, kudos for convincing your boss you're actually working, but don't expect your rusty gold to jump the queue.
5) You get what you pay for! In this case it means that you'll get a great finished product, with an appropriately great price tag, so make sure you warn the Mrs that the bank account is going to be a bit slimmer.
I've used Crow's for nearly a dozen jobs, and keep coming back because the quality is superlative, and the conversation is right up my alley.
Give them a try, and you might just enjoy yourself!
I've known Crow's for decades! They resprayed my Moto Guzzi V65 Lario superbly back in the late 1980's and I just had a scratched seat cowl touched up lately by them. When I ask people in the MC trade "Who do I go to for good painting work? " They always mention Crow's.
You'll be very happy with Crow's!
